Except they only promised all that until March and that's it. You should expect less because PD haven't immediately promised anything beyond the two manufacturer updates (Audi VGT and Toyota Super Racing Concept) and the start of the FIA championships so they don't owe you a thing right now. Expect more without promise or prior warning, prepared to be disappointed.

While I, fundamentally, agree that people shouldn't expect what's not promised, I have to play devil's advocate here and say that these expectations are also, in part, the developer's fault. You see, as a developer, you need to manage the expectations of your audience. What you say and what you don't say play an equally important role. PD has this habit of long periods of silence, with little information. This can lead to rampant speculation and unrealistic thoughts about what's to come. "But", you say, "these people are getting overhyped by themselves! PD has nothing to do with that. It's unfair to PD.", and, to an extent, it's true. However, the reality is the expectations will build and, when they are not met, it's not just the speculators that will take a hit, but the company too. PD is watching the gossip flames grow into a raging fire and yet, just because they didn't start the fire, they don't need to dowse said flames, they're fine letting the house burn down. It wouldn't kill PD to just say, in a quick statement, that content won't be continuing at the same rate as before. This would be appropriate managing of expectations.

No. Appropriate managing of expectations would be to not expect the world when you don't even have a map of your current surroundings. Two things were announced for this month. One of those things released on the 9th. The other is expected to be released on the 27th when the next update drops. Anything expected outside of those two things has been brought on by people speculating. Now I understand that after 4 months of 12 cars + 1-2 tracks each month, people would expect that to continue, but PD never said that it would be that way beyond March. They've only stated that more cars and tracks would come in the future, to which no specific amount of either element was given.

At this moment, expecting anything to come in the update outside of the Supra GR Concept and any bug fixes is probably expecting too much considering there was no hint at an update like we've received from December to March. If anything extra does come it'd be a pleasant surprise, but I expect at this point most users here would be disappointed regardless of what PD put in the update because they've been predicting and speculating on what they wish would show up. Nothing against that as they have every right to temper or not temper their expectations when things haven't been announced or hinted at.

And in all honesty, if Kaz had tweeted a darkened silhouette picture like he did for previous updates and it only contained the Supra GR Concept, I would have found that immensely hilarious just to see how the reactions to it would be on this forum.

Yes. People will always build expectations and, as a company, sometimes, you need to drop in a notice telling people to cool it, otherwise it can backfire. If you think wild speculation can only hurt those who are speculating, you are sorely mistaken. How many times have the famous, and large corporations, had to issue statements to clarify things? Many times before. Speculation will always happen and, even if you did nothing to start it, it can hurt you if you let it run rampant. If you have it in your power to end the speculation and calm down the storm that's heading towards you, yet you refuse to use that power, then can you really complain when the storm blows your house away? Yes, you didn't form the storm and it's unfair for you to pay for something that you didn't start. But that's reality. Storms will always come and sometimes you really should say something as a company and take it on the chin, just like the speculators take it when they don't get what they expected.

As far as I can tell, Community managers only exist because people have no concept of patience and only seem to want anything to satisfy their self-entitlement RIGHT NOW instead of waiting.

So because people have no concept of containing expectations, he's automatically "Evil" for not satisfying the "Right Now" crowd?

Agree fully with the whole post.

Would add in many cases community managers and roadmaps exist because the company is trying to sell you something....ie paid DLC.....

So far GTS does not do paid DLC despite delivering to schedule over 50 cars, couple of tracks and track variations......

Kaz is on record as saying more is coming and that this is a long term project not an 'annual' (or bi-annual) update like many other full 'new' games......

For April the 'clues' suggest this is focused around preparation for the 1st real season of FIA championships the 'raison d'etre' for GTS !

I'd personally hoped to see more 'real' tracks before the start but not sure April update will have any now.

But that's getting into "Damned if you do, damned if you don't". I will never understand the mentality, but somehow PD saying nothing, means everything to those expecting to get everything from nothing.

That's basically how it is. There will always be people with unrealistic expectations. You're never going to be able to make them all go away. What you can do is reduce their number. Think of excessive gossip as an infectious disease that spreads quickly. You, as a company, can't sit back expecting everyone not to spread the disease, because there will always be those who do. You have to establish some quarantine. You may not be able to stop the disease from afflicting some, but you can do something to prevent an epidemic. That's what I mean when I say PD should just give a quick statement whenever there is a major shift in plans, it's the quarantine to prevent the speculation virus from getting out of hand. Community managers exist for this purpose: to manage the community.

You would be right, if the game was finished with the full size of a Gran Turismo Game in the first place. I don't know why the after-contents should be count as DLC, when they are just to make the game playable.

Don't get me wrong, GTS is for me a really great game, one of the best I've ever played. But it just has not enough tracks, especially real world tracks.

And there is not really a comunication with the community.

I don't know why PD always have this communication problems, they don't know how to keep their loyal fans motivated, they should have weekly news and also provide future plans in advance so people can be aware, it seems like everything is a mystery or a secret.

And then when they suffer setbacks to that progress, you get people complaining that they can't stick to set deadlines.

It don't matter if they don't provide dead lines, they have met all deadlines for the last 50 cars. They did talked about reaching 500 cars mark but they should create another action plan for another 50 cars. That's not so hard to do, TBH

Because imho they see themselves as market leaders of the racing genre, and sales seem to back them up, so why they may think, change marketing and user engagement strategies that has been working just fine for them!

For PD, the internet is not for interaction, it is for patching games, because we are now the Beta testers, and delivering extra content, which is whatever random mix of cars and tracks they feel like producing, because they don't seem to listen to what people want. And released at a time when ever they want. Again, it works for them so what is the incentive to change!

After playing it almost every day since release, my interest has stated to wane over the last week or so. Hopefully something significant will be released this week, or in the near future, but I think my GTS bubble has burst. I hope they do something to get me hooked again, but I doubt it. Previous GT games kept me playing for years, but then this is not a proper GT game is it!

Thanks for your reply, I also feel that they don't appreciate their loyal fans. We as fans and GT series buyers deserve better from them. Honestly, it seems like they don't care about our feedback. How hard can it be for them? we waited four years for this game and they should be working harder for us. We demand more from PD...👍:gtpflag:

I don't see what the the big deal is. Only two things were planned for april, the Audi Vision Gran Turismo on the 9th and the GR Supra at an unspecified date within this month. It doesn't take a detective to figure out that the car is finally coming on the 27th of April update. PD already delivered on their plans to add 50 more cars to the game by the end of March. This gross overreaction over "communication" just seems unnecessary when they already told us what to expect and just makes the community look silly and immature.

No 12 car pack with three new tracks for free this month? Get back to work, peasants! PD only exists to serve GT Planet and our whims!

It’s not like Kaz is a busy man with many connections in the industry and is in another continent almost every month! He should be locked away in his room making free content for ME!

Get back to work slaves!

But seriously, now that March has passed, we should be expecting a lot less.
We should be expecting more, far more, than we’ve received previously. Even if it’s in the form of paid content. Car packs are welcome, but the absolute bare minimum, considering the launch line-up. As for track content, frankly, it is pitiful, the worst in any sim, let alone a AAA, big budget, production.

Without continued significant updates GT Sport will be dead years before GT7 (or whatever it’s called) is ready for release. It’s frustrating as GT Sport is the ideal base for a games as a service model. Yet here we are, little more than 6 months after release, hanging on a tweet from the games creator.......when PD have the entire PlayStation marketing department at their disposal.

If PD and Sony could reveal their previous plans a mere month after release, there’s no excuse not to have detailed DLC plans, for one of their flagship titles. It should be up and plastered across the PS Blog’s, their social media accounts and.....here’s a radical idea......maybe an interview or Q&A on GT Planet?

Uggghhh, why do people keep saying about DTM being in Gr2? Just because they share a common chassis in real life does not make them compatible in the game. When they ran laps at Motegi there was a 4 second a lap difference favouring the GT500s.
It would be like asking for a balance of power for Gr4 to run with Gr3. Ridiculous.
The laptime difference is almost entirely down to power (100bhp+) and tyres (confidential development).

With cars running on the same tyres in GT Sport, BoP could quite comfortably ensure cars are competitive with each other.

Kaz should tweet out a pic of the Supra car and tell everyone that it for April update. I want to see the reaction in this forum. I like to see reading the anger in this from the user.

Not really expecting much from this update apart from the promised Supra and maybe another track as a bonus as nothing was announced for after March except an extremely vague "the updates will continue" quote from Kaz. I suspect the 50 cars plus tracks updates were just a case of finishing off stuff that was already there but not ready at launch (2016 Super GT cars are a bit of a giveaway since if they were done from scratch they would be at least the 2017 cars) so my guess is that they will continue with new cars and tracks but not necessarily release them then say for example in July that they'll add another 50 cars plus some tracks between August and December with possibly a car or two each month until then.

Totally agree with everyone who says PD's communication with their customers is garbage, I mean how hard is it to simply tweet or post via the PlayStation Blog whether the updates will continue in the same way they have for months or if they are changing now the 50 car promise is fulfilled?

To be honest I doubt many would be angry at the content as it's at least clarification of what's coming, most of the anger would be towards the fact it took them so long to tell people.

At least it is all for free

This. PD could easily set up paid DLC

Honestly though, I'd rather see more tracks and all possible variations added (e.g. Tsukuba Short, Nurburgring GP/D, etc) over cars.
And we need way, way more events. The last update only had three, there needs to be more added in than that (and dirt events as well).

I'm expecting Supra and maybe a scapes update centered around a Summer theme (we had Red Leaves, Snow and Spring before). If PD is really generous maybe Fuji Speedway (because of the Toyota connection). Also a few tweaks to get ready for the FIA Championship. Expecting anything more is just gonna lead to disappointment.

I just emptied my bank to buy the XJ13 so I bloody hope the Supra is 1 million or less

I keep seeing comments on “communication problems”, but I’m not sure what exactly PD needs to communicate right now? We already knew the new Supra was set to arrive in an April update, and we now have a date set for that. If there is anything else coming to the update, I don’t see why PD should be obligated to reveal what it is before the update launches.

We know more car/track content will be added beyond March, but we haven’t been given quantities or deadlines/schedules - and again, I don’t see why PD needs to give that out right now.
