NASCAR is for rednecks who drive lawnmowers! :D :P

Onto the video, I'm really curious how it's going to play out and fit into the game all at once - I honestly think GT5 should adopt the GT2 method of racing events and whatnot. Leagues, HP restricted, Drivetrain restricted, etc. NASCAR could have it's own league and/or represent single manufacturer events.

Speaking of that, I think there will be a seperate hall for the licensed series. It might look like this.
Series Hall>D1GP, JGTC, LMS, NASCAR, WRC, WTCC.

Obviously a couple aren't confirmed but I figured it would fit the example.

Few things I need to comment on- He was moved by the sport, not its popularity.

2nd- He said a few more cars than GT4 not GT5Prologue.

Also, DLC is almost a sure thing now after that interview.

NASCAR is going to be freakin awesome.

well, this interviewer has been very direct and asked for a release date twice.. and twice, he got denied with a smile on Yamauchi's face.. lol.

But as said before in this thread.. it seems that GT5's release date is now no longer in his hands, sony is probably strategically placing it now between other bigger titles... and PD keeps polishing it in the mean time as long as they can.

i have never read anything as true as that on gran turismo planet.

are we sure KY meant more cars than GT4 and not more than GT5P?
If its the latter than what have we been waiting for all this time? I hope they have been modeling cars right? all these years?

Consider this, GT5 is probably the most important game that will ever be released on the PS3. .
I would probably say GT5 is going to be the biggest, most anticipated game in the history of video games. I've been gaming since the 1980's and I cannot think of any title that comes even close.

At the moment im sure Sony must of had numerous meetings discussing when to release GT5 is going to be released and how to market it. Im sure they won't just consider other PS3 titles but also the current state of the economy due to the global recession. This is why I maintain a Nov/Dec release because they are going to use GT5 to sell PS3 consoles and will coincide this during the peak shopping week of the year i.e late Nov/Early Dec. Im one of the few who would actually prefer a late 2009 release because im currently saving for a cockpit to go with my G25.:)

As for Nascar I must be honest I find it rather boring to watch on the TV. I have terrible problems sleeping and find watching Nascar on Channel 5 helps me fall asleep lol. However for online racing I reckon it will be great fun as it will provide a different challenge.

I will finally add that im going to be really curious to see how many PS3 consoles Sony sell when GT5 is released. I already know of 20 people on my Xbox live friends list who are going to buy one and I have read many people on the Forza forums say the same!

Some gaming critic said that gran turismo does not mean much anymore to US gamers but i think it means still very much and even to US gamers. I would not be suprised if half of PS3 owners bought the game.

Just thinking, will there be 4 current NASCAR cars (Chevorlet, Dodge, Ford and Toyota) with different liveries or will there be heaps of different cars? It dosen't really matter I guess.

I think he was talking about GT PSP, saying it will have a few more cars than GT4 + GT5P.

-> Hmm...when KY said to the interviewer "Sam-Sam" about did he attend the Press-Con. I would thought that the reporter was none other than Sam Mitani from Road&Track magazine!

^ Sorry I have to.

-> I recalled the term "Sam Sam"; from the Drift King himself Keiichi Tsuchiya calling Sam "Sam Sam":

-> Also Sam may have close ties with KY as he Test Drove the Mach 5 from PD themselves:

Special thanks to Warner Bros. Studios for supplying the car; Yokohama Tire Co. for their support arranging the photo shoot; Willow Run Airport for renting us a hangar, and Polyphony Digital Inc. for creating a virtual simulation of the Mach 5 that we used for our performance tests.

:sly:

^ Sorry for being off-topic a bit. :guilty:

BT-> But Sam is also *one of us*, he tries his best to spill KY regarding GT5 as proffesionally as he can! Too bad thou.

Sam also featured in the bonus DVD "beyond the apex" that came with GT5P in the US.

BTW it sounded like KY called him "Sam-san" not "Sam-Sam".

I could finally watch the interview.

First, that releasedate answer was pretty positive for me, because his "i cant tell you" while smiling could mean its already fix, but there is some sort of NDA, if he really wouldnt knew when it will come out, he wouldve answered a lot more serious.

That stuff with the cars seemed like he was talking about GT PSP, like there will be the cars from Prologue, plus a few more, nothing really surprising and the rest is from GT4.

The NASCAR stuff is already old, but still interesting, i love how open minded he his when it comes to motorsport, unlike a lot of people here on the forum...

It would be cool to have classic NASCAR cars also.

I wonder if Kaz is also considering IRL, since besides the actual cars used that and NASCAR seem to go hand-in-hand.

IRL, GP2, F1...all of 'em.

I want this damn game already.

KY was actually moved by a Nascar race he saw in Texas. Described it as "an event" not just a race. Seemed to like this.
He should go to Mac Tools U.S. Nationals as well then, and perhaps we'll see NHRA drag racing in GT6!
