News from Sema

Why did anyone expect a release date at sema? Sony never said anything about that.

And as far as I know the only thing we heard about it going gold was from 1 game site that noone's ever heard of. I havent read any news releases from Sony or any popular source that the game went gold. As far as Im concerned that was yet another internet rumor.

I'm not going to argue points for which I have no proof, however:

1. I was not expecting a release date. But it was clear several hundred (if not thousand) people on GTPlanet were either expecting one or hoping for one.

2. Jalopnik is not a gaming site. It's an automotive blog and one of the most popular automotive blogs on the Internet. I wouldn't compare them with the New York Times but I wouldn't expect them post baseless rumors.

3. It's not exactly common practice for any publisher to make a big fuss over GM status.

I'd call him the least trust worthy source there is.
Point taken. However, there's a difference between the man taking on a complicated project and severely underestimating it's development cycle and publicly lying to a member of the media about discs being stamped.

Why is the winner of the GT awards 2010 not on the front page ? 💡

I know that it is in this thread some where, but In my opinion the red Camaro should be on the front page :)

It is after all close to the only real / relayble news we have had for sema this year, accept from "The discs are being stamped as we speak" of course :)
...because the front page is updated by one, single person who happens to be very sick at the moment and can barely drag their self out of bed. Obviously, it will be posted up soon, but it takes me time to get caught up with everything that's been happening while I was asleep.

Think about Amazon and how much money they have lost by refunding shipping charges for both the game and the Prima guide. I doubt it's just the 4 or 5 people here, including myself, that posted their email. To get my guide next day it cost me $4 (3.99 to be exact), standard Amazon Prime next day fee.
They don't charge until they ship it for a reason you know :dopey: I'm sure it's pissed them off though as I guess they factor it into their 'making money' calculator.

Well that just sucks. I've got a pretty serious stomach injury thanks to my brilliant idea to heed Uncle Sam's call. It didn't cause me any issue for a while till a few days ago(november 2nd). That would have been a hell of a way to spend GT5's release day... Didn't much help me getting my term paper done on time though. The forum posters here have been doing a pretty good job keeping all the current news posted on the boards however.

I think if what he said was incorrect, someone (like Sony) would have issued something saying it wasn't true.

Ha ha. You would have expected Sony to talk. They have been nothing but tight lipped as of late. They are hiding something and I fear the worst.

Hate to say it... but if Kaz isn't being honest about the discs being produced now, why would Sony say it isn't true? Look at the amount of people celebrating and treating it as essentially a given they'll have the game soon! Sony would be silly to crush those spirits with news that, no, actually, the game still isn't close to being ready (if that is true).

Get well soon Jordan!

Yeah, Kaz is both Sony and Poly. Kaz is one of the board so I think his words are solid. Personally I am aiming for the 30th of November.

If they were smart, they'd at least aim for Nov 23 for the U.S's black Friday. Sony would sell quite a few PS3s and GT5 titles. Even steering wheels will pick up sales perhaps. The 23rd would be great. On release day, Fans can get it and not fight the crowds and for the remainder of the week its first come first serve if they didn't get it on release day.

Ummm... Sony did confirm that Kaz was correct. Albeit, in a very Sony'ish way. But they still confirmed it.

Besides, Kaz isn't a liar. He is just optimistic and a bad estimator. If he said they are being stamped, and they are not, then he is lying. So, I wouldn't try and over-simplify Kaz and say he "is untrustworthy". Because as always, things (and people) are more nuanced than that.

In other words, the discs are being stamped, but Sony is still working out the final logistics. Once they have it worked out, they will tell us.

But, this is certainly annoying, to say the least.

That is exactly what I'm hoping for. It really makes best financial sense for Sony. People will be buying PS3s with Move and then think "I need a really amazing game" and buy GT5. A release after Black Friday isn't nearly as beneficial to Sony.

Confirmed what and how.

Edit sorry. Your talking about the production run of discs. Where did Sony confirm this.
