you cant have a GTA game in a non-english speaking country? COME ON!

A made up city based on new orleans or new jersey is my best bet. Please not London. Im english and i know they would get americans to do bad english accents/

If they could do a tri-county South Florida map, that would be awesome. Or even if they did just Dade county, that would give plenty of variety. We have everglades instead of countryside, though, and the land is all flat which kind of sucks.

Hong Kong would be great because its an island and along with Kowloon / new terroitories (the bit stuck to the mainland) it would be a large enough area to have a good GTA game. They could even use the excuse in game of not having an SAR passport so you can't cross the border into China... and a Typhoon has meant the cross harbour tunnel and ferries are not opperating! Its GTA heaven! They could also have missions where you travel to other Hong Kong islands like Lantau or even a mission to Macau! oh oh! and a prison break from stanley prison!:sly:

That coupled with the gang culture, the 24 metropolis lifestyle, the varing enviornments it really is perfect... and the cars! THE CARS!

Yeah, good points there. An ability to go to Macau would be great with all the casinos and clubs. Did you know that more money goes through the Macau casinos in one year than Las Vegas? That's madness. I had to laugh at the China passport thing too. Getting a visa to go there now requires a ridiculous procedure.

Well, if they they did base it on Hong Kong I would put my services forward as a researcher! They wouldn't have to pay my flights and accomodation. Although I guess researching a city on company money is one of the developers greatest perks.

Im related to a former Triad boss in some way

dont ever get to see him tho :sly:
Ive seen him once but that was when I was a kid

EDIT: Ye Hong Kong all the way!!!

Is is a good idea to tell people that on the internet?!

Yeah I heard that Macau makes more money than Las Vegas but I'm not really surprised by this. Vegas didn't start to make a lot of money until they started advertising to younger folks. After the mob left it became a haven for old folks looking to spend some of their retirement money.

Plus isn't Macau bigger than the part of Vegas where all the casinos are located?

The thing is, the big casinos i.e. The Venetian, MGM Grand have only been open less than a year, whereas Vegas is so much more extablished. I guess when you have a potential 1.3 billion punters obsessed with luck and fortune and living in a country where gambling is illegal on your doorstep, you start to see a fast profit!

[satire]Why? They've set them in the USA for years...[/satire]

Niko Bellic is voiced by an English actor...

I would like the next game to be mainly set in a completely updated Vice city, with a bigger map and more detail. Also the ability to fly to another city (two blu-ray disks?). It would be good if it were also set in the '70s era, like the driver games.

how about Rockstar moves more onto the middle east aka the UAE like Dubai, no i'm not just saying that cause i live here, but because it would be something else.

But now a realistic point of view. In GTA IV in one mission they mentioned Dubai quite a few times. SO how about you can take the plane to Dubai and do missions, explore the city , etc and then fly back to Venice, Paris, Cuba, etc

Chris

Quite like the Dubai idea, though I agree it would have to be as part of something else. I've been out to Sharjah a couple of times (gf lived there) and I think the mix of having wealthy Dubai, traditional Sharjah and a nice bit of coastline and desert would be a good mix, though I'm not sure there's enough material there for an entire game. Plus in my experience you'd spend half your mission stuck in a traffic jam :P

I'm not sure I like the idea of having definite separate regions in the game though, unless you could easily hop on a plane from one place to another, in the same way you could city to city in SA. The cities in Driver for example were too separated - you went from one, to another, to another. San Andreas was great because no matter how far you were into the game you could hop back to the first cities.

haha true. I dont know when the last time was when you were here, but the traffic has gotten worse IMO.
Well it would make the game interesting with all that traffic lol, i mean look at LC at star junction, you got heavy traffic there too at times.

Off topic, when was the last time you were in dubai / shj?

I agree and realistic Miami would be good but I would prefer it set in modern times.... was there even anything in Miami in the 70's? (you know what I mean).

I like the idea of Dubai but its quite a small city at the moment and very linear (i.e runs straight along the coast) but the story and visuals could be really exciting... Rockstar would probably redraw the islands in to some offensive shape  and they could use the desert as a boundary excuse for the game... go into the desert and die of sun stroke...:ill:

Vegas isn't a big enough city. Only the strip has any sort of tall buildings. Otherwise it just kinda sucks. I say a San Fransisco-esque city!

I wish that new city would be Istanbul. huge city, historical places, 20m population, 2 long see bridge, 6 small island, highways.. what else? :P

The Bay Area has Alcatraz, sports stadiums, and all that other stuff. :P

Was there for a few weeks in April (I think... time flies so quickly) this year, and previous to that for 10 days last October. Been staying in SHJ but ventured into Dubai a number of times. It'd definitely make a good GTA environment - flying choppers around the Burj Dubai and al Arab, gun battles around the Madinat (would make a good multiplayer area too!), races up Sheik Zayed road etc.

What about Detroit? It's like, the most dangerous city in the US now.

OT: I know someone related to a Chinese gang member who shot Jin.

Uh, it was already in DRIV3R so Rockstar don't have to do it as well. :P
I second sLg idea. Maybe Rockstar would do Detroit!!!! :D

Wasn't San Fierro San Francisco-esque? If it was then their is no reason to focus on that city.

I think if R* chooses Miami, Nice, or Istanbul then a lot of Driver fans will be pissed because these were the cities chosen for Driv3r. But if R* chose Miami then I would like to see if they can out due Atari and Infogrames. I think they did one hell of an job at upgrading the city compared to the first Driver.

Oh and for those that want Detroit I think it would be also be a good idea because then our Canadian fans can get in on the game if R* adds the Ambassador Bridge.

istanbul in driv3r was too small ;)
in your opinion then we should eliminate chicago and san francisco because they were in midtown madness :)

They've also been in Driver 2 and Driver respectively, but even with a ficticious slant on them, Rockstar can no doubt do them better than Reflections or the creators of MM did given the advance in technology.

I very much doubt we'll see New York/San Francisco/Las Vegas/Los Angeles/London/Miami again though because Rockstar have already said they won't return to those cities for the next installment.

So Detroit it is then. ;)
Or maybe somewhere like in Washington, or perhaps Canada?

Naw they should do a Canadian city like Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver or St. John's (hometown, I had to say it)

That would be awful, your would fall into pot holes and if you mugged someone they would have no money...unless they did the suburbs around Detroit as well. At least they could call the game GTA: Motor City.

Well who says it have to be like that? ;) For all we know, Detroit would make a great place for a storyline just like in real life! Also, remember this:
GTA = Grand Theft Auto
Detroit = Motor City
Yes, thats a recipe for mayhem........ :mischievous:

how cool. you should have let me know, could have showed you around :P

true i was thinking the other day, madinat jumeirah gun battle then fleeing with the chopper from burj al arab and like in GTA: SA you can parachute down burj dubai.

Off topic, next time you visit, gimme a buzz and we hang out :)

Grand Theft Auto: China Town Wars has been announced for the DS. Hopefully they will take it down the Triad route and set it in Hong Kong.
