NFS Hot Pursuit 3

One question:

Does it succeed in making that V8 sound even more like it's devouring bears, lions, and tigers? I don't know how they did it, but Koenigsegg's have the best V8 rumble, echo, and tone I've ever heard - Jesus Christ.

Look it up on YouTube, and yes it does still sound pretty muscular.

Just did. Sounds pretty much exactly like the transition from the CCR to the CCX - same godly noise, just more of it (read: raspier). :D

You get used to the physics after a while to the point where they can be fun, I did a 1'17 in the Dark Horse race and a 3'26 in the Roadster race. I don't know where everyone gets these super times from, these runs feel almost perfect to me.

Its taken me a while to learn it, I think I'm finally getting there. I had the same feeling, I felt like my runs were clean and fast, yet I was in the 3'30's and the next guys were a few seconds faster, with the fastest on my list @ 3'25.xxx. I have gotten my times down, and now in the BMW I'm at 3'21.xxx. I think the Porsche is faster, or at least more easy to maintain a higher speed.

Much like a racing sim, make the corners as straight as possible, out in out. Only drift on the corners you have to and don't turn any more than you have to. Every touch on the wheel will drop your speed. Drive into oncoming traffic/draft/near miss and only boost until your speedo goes red, and just use the boost to maintain the top speed as need be.

Only use the shortcuts that are faster. The shortcuts take a good chunk out of your top speed. There really is only one shortcut to use for the fastest route. When you come up to the long winding bridge near the end, you don't take the first left off into the shortcut, you continue down the straight, drift the left hander then take the shortcut to the right down onto the sand. Follow this shortcut all the way around until your forced back onto the road for the final stretch.

Don't hit the walls, don't hit anything, as it slows you down too much. After a corner, boost back up to max speed, then just maintain it while building up more boost by driving into oncoming traffic so when you have to drift again, you have plenty of boost to get back up to speed quickly.

Needless to say, I'm loving the game and definitely a day one purchase.

And it's twin-turbocharged instead of supercharged ;). Or it will be, I believe the prototype Agera (one at Goodwood) has the CCX engine and transmission, with the new exhaust which is why it's louder. The production car will have the new engine and optional 7-speed paddle shift gearbox. 👍

That's pretty much everything I've been doing, but I'm still stuck with a PB of 3'26, a 3'21 would be insane!

I think the one thing I forgot to mention was don't boost when your turning/drifting, you gain very little from it, and the boost is fairly limited, so only use it when you are dead straight out of a turn.

Other than that, practice I guess. 2 days ago I couldn't believe some of the times people were getting. Now I'm ahead of my friends by 4 seconds. I have attempted the one race nearly 50 times now I think.

Hmm, well I have been hitting the nitrous while still cornering, I'll have to be sure not to do that any more then.:) Next go will be tomorrow now though. Do you use much boost on the dirt in the shortcut?

Only enough to keep my speed at around 200kmph. But often not for the first section of the shortcut, once through the 'caves' and you come around that long left I'll boost a little just as I'm going up the hill. And then again after the tight right hander I'll boost a little to get my speed back up, but you need to have ample boost after coming off the shortcut for the final run through the tunnel to the finish.

Also if your near max/at max boost meter, use some boost, even if its an area you normally wouldn't. I have just found it better to use the boost and have it charge up again than save it for a long straight and miss out on the extra boost you gain for near misses/oncoming traffic

So what about the open world? Well you can choose to dive straight into Freedrive at any point while on the event screen
i don't see a button that says Freedrive on the event screen.

Not only that, if we could do this online, i'm getting a friend together to take photos...

On an S-turn I will park my car at an angle, and he will park his behind mine facing the opposite angle. Take a picture, new wallpaper.

posed like this, replace Red car with Agera, replace Black car with Zonda Cinque what do you think?

We need to have a photomode competition here a week after release.

The menu screen more than likely does not have the button/option to go free roam available to see.

Have they explained yet how you acquire cars? I can't imagine that everything's free game at the beginning.

Well I noticed in the demo it says Cars owned: 3/3. I don't know how you buy cars though.

Buying cars, I would assume, is like like Most Wanted where there's a car dealership. There's no "free roam" button in the demo 'cause it's a demo.

no.... Earning more thing is through bounty. no dealership...that's just silly as SCPD would have raided that ages ago... Seacrest = a famous tourist attraction... it also drew in people who want to simply race their hearts out.... if SCPD wanted to bust these guys and had a dealership, they would have done that before the game even began.

No "all cars are available" at the start because face it, no one is going to drive slower cars once a faster car is available.

If you're a street racer starting off with tuners, cops are going to need to buff up their cars to take you out. While you're doing that you're going to need to step up your game with faster cars...

It's like there's this super rich person underground who is secretly granting both parties better equipment as they progress.

Is it just me or does the DFGT not work with the demo, if so does anyone know will it be compatible with wheels.

No wheels work with the demo, but the full game will support them.

couldn't have searched in this thread "compatible" "wheel" " support"?

or at least went back a few pages from the most recent posts?

I took your advice but I could only do one run tonight before we played NBA instead. Either way, I hit a couple walls and still improved a tiny smidge. In a Z4 over my old Boxster time too.

Z4's got a higher top speed than the Boxster.... so naturally it should out run it (eventually)...

Someone claimed they got a really good time with the 370Z, which gets me curious to what the top speed of the 370Z is since the game doesn't reveal it.. but i've forgotten how fast i went in the 370Z

Hmm I've checked the thread and good news about wheel support in the full game.
Makes me wonder why it wasn't in the demo.

Playing a bit more jumping between each car I've noticed...

Porsche - Fastest Acceleration, lowest top speed attainable using boost. Balanced through the corners. Probably best for newcomers, but I don't think it will set as fast of a time as the others in the demo level. My fastest time is a 3:22.xx

BMW - Good Acceleration, higher top speed than the Porsche using boost. Easy to oversteer through corners, easy to drift but can cost you speed if your not paying attention. With practice very quick, good all rounder but requires some skill to get the most out of it. My fastest time is a 3:21.06

Nissan - Poor Acceleration, fastest top speed (highest I've been is 294kmph) using boost. Heaviest through the corners and shaves speed off like its nobody's business. Hardest car in the game to go quick with, although I think this car on the demo track could probably set the fastest times. Have to be ultra smooth and just maintain a high speed throughout the circuit, I don't think it could be caught, although thats much easier said than done. My fastest time is a 3:21.77

For the 3 cars, they are all fairly even, even with their differences, it would come down to the best driver on the track in the race would come out on top regardless of car. For time trial, I would have to give it to the Nissan, although I'm yet to prove it myself, I believe the Nissan will yield the best times.

The filming should be sort of related to the cover art, maybe a commercial? Too bad the cop car is not Reventon, but it still looks really good.

Jesus Christ that was effing awesome! This also appears to have active aero - leave it to Criterion to make a better game then EA.

Its still undeer the EA brand they have been letting other dev teams do there titles for awhile.

Wow, this game is a definite MUST BUY in my book.. Well, after GT5, of course. ;D

And guess who got 1:00.47 on Black Horse? :sly:

My tip: Road blocks. Lots of them. I took the last two guys simultaneously with a road block.
