If you play this game expecting Underground 3 with cops, you're going to be disappointed because the customization is nowhere near the level of Underground 2.

It seems to me that this is more like Hot Pursuit 2, with less cars, but with limited customization. But the visual customization has nothing to do with the game except that cops begin to recognize your car. You can change it if you want to lower your beef with the cops, or just leave it as it is. Customization is NOT required so you dont have to rice out your beautiful car if you dont want to.

I think someone said something before...basically you can choose to keep tuning up your car and racing with it, or just keep upgrading yourself into a new car, because each of the blacklist racers you defeat unlocks 2 or 3 more cars you can purchase. 2 different approaches to the same game.

Cop chases are alot more fun on MW mainly because of the open environments. They havent really been that hard yet, Im maybe 10% into the game, but in the pc demo they were pretty brutal so Im just looking forward to that for now.

Graphics are kind of a disappointment on Xbox. Im not sure what they were going for but it sure looks pretty grainy, even with S-Video cables. Feels like it was rushed to be a part of the 360 release. I havent compared yet but Im pretty sure U2 looked better.

Sound is pretty good as usual for the series, but still no custom soundtracks.

Car physics, like said in many previews/reviews of the game, feel heavier. In general it feels more realistic than HP2 and UG1/2. Its still definately an arcade racer, and still feels like an NFS game.
------------------

Thats just some of my views on it from playing last night. Im not gonna sit here and argue which game is better or worse than MW, or argue against others opinions. Personally I like it as a game but they kind of botched the online mode again. STILL only 4 people in a room, No cop chases online, like CAMAROBOY said only Circuit, Sprint, and Drag races. It doesnt kick you out of the room after a race, but now its got some gay perpetual countdown timer that auto launches the race unless someone is changing options. EA servers suck my **** and ruin everything.

Someone's just got to find a glitch like U2 where you can free roam the city. ;)

Hot pursuit was a sick game. This one is pure poo. I mean when you press on acceleratefrom standstill each car does a burnout as if the front brakes are on thatis just plain crap.

Put the joint down and walk away. NO WAY IS THIS BETTER.. More than half the people in this thread said the same thing. This game is crap and It will be returned tomorow. Period. Where is your drifting online? I know you way too well there is no way you will stay interrested in this game.
You can use any excuse to justify the $60.00 you just wasted but its not worth buying this game. Period.

well thats where you are wrong, you dont know me as well as you think you do !!!

the drifting was fun at the time, but after playing FORZA you realize how fake NFS: UNDERGROUND drifting was.

my favorite part of the NFS series has always been the police chases, this game blows all the other games away in that aspect, like GVan said the cars handle way beter that the other games too.

also like GVan said the online is kinda disapointing but we still had fun with absolutly no lag.

im not trying to start a big argument over this game, but to tell people not to buy a game because you dont like it is just stupid, do you really think people are going to read your post and decide not to buy it ??? i highly doubt it.

Mabey not one person but when you get 10 people or more replying saying the game sucks then more than likely people ARE going to listen or think first before buying. :sly:

I'll judge it off the demo, if I like the demo then why would I suddenly think, hey 10 people on this board don't like it, I won't get it then. Most people who bought NFS:U 1 and 2 will buy the game regardless.

I really enjoyed the underground series and hot pursuit. I wonder if they maybe dumbed it down for pc and ps2 and then when its released on xbox360 we will all love it.

as for me Im not gonna even rent this game. Im gonna get me a copy for free.

Although I respect Camaroboy's opinion on a lot of things, this is one thing I have to disagree with him on. This game doesn't appeal to everybody, but is fun in its own right. I enjoyed the Underground series, and this is better. I am currently playing the PC Demo at 1600x1200 with everything turned up all the way and the environment looks great. They did change the physics around a little bit, which I am having to adjust to with my DFP. It definitely has more pluses than minuses.

I research games before I buy, and had I listened to a lot of people on various forums I would not be buying GT4/PS2 here shortly. People will form their own opinions of the game. If you are a sim fan, this game is not for you by any means. I don't know how it compares to the Burnout series though (I hear its a great series).

If you like y our sims research Enthusia, I bought it the other day, I didn't get it sooner because of GT4 and now GT4's not being used much I remembered about Enthusia, I'm not far into the game at all but it's superb.

live4speed,

That is what I hear. If you read reviews you would think that Enthusia is a complete bust, however I found that when you weed through all the biased reviews/comments you find a great game. When I purchase my PS2 here shortly I am getting GT4 and Enthusia (already have the DFP). I am looking forward to both games. 👍

Keep in mind my review is based off the Xbox graphics and game play. The videos and trailers for the PC look a lot better.
In the showcase for NFSMW the cars look excellent. But as soon as you start playing you can actually see pixelated (sp) cars. I will say again in the garage and the shocase the cars looked excellent but not in the game.
Also keep in mind I was a fan of every single NFS game ever made and beat them all. So it was not easy for me to give a bad review for this game.
But who knows me being honest might save some kids partent from spending $60 on a game their kid doesnt enjoy.

Camaroboy,

The graphics are clearly going to be better on the Xbox360/PC, but the gameplay is no different. Looking at screenshots it seems the PS2 version got hit by the ugly stick, while the Xbox came out with a little bit more love. I believe that the Xbox360 version will open up a lot of eyes, especially if it looks anything like it does on my PC 👍 My only complaint so far is when you get a shadow from a tree on your hood/whatnot and its all jaggedy because the tree is a sprite. That is a bit dissappointing, but other than that it has improved since Underground 2.

Where as the holy grail of graphical goodness (GT4) doesnt even give you a shadow from the trees on your car.

ok that was a low blow and off topic really....and I cant for the life of me see how I can delete my own post.

I am so confused as a potential buyer of this product...you all are making statements, I dont know who to trust...Does God play video games ? He might know for sure...

God, not DriftGod ! lol

just rent it, maybe its your thing and maybe not, its hard to tell since theres alot of people on both sides here.

its really not that different from U2 as far as gameplay is concerned. only there is less customization and a wider variety of cars as you probably know. And of course the cops once you get into career mode. Its hard for me to say right now if career mode is as large as, larger, or smaller than U2. Im thinking smaller since they re-introduced challenge mode (from NFS Hot Pursuit 2) and they got rid of Drift and Street X races for some new race modes. I like the one where it radars your speed at like 6 points on a point to point race, and whoever has the highest total speed(of all 6) at the end is the winner.

I wasn't comparing it to GT4 by any means. Just making a statement that if you are going to add in a feature such as that, atleast make it look good and not be a shadow of a sprite (which is pixelated).

Don't worry about who to trust, just rent the game and see if it fits your taste. A lot of people are not going to like the game, but just as many may like it. Also, check out http://www.nfsunlimited.net for more information (sorry if this is against the rules).

Like mentioned above. Just rent it first. If you like then you buy. If you dont then I saved you $60.00 ;) Guys posting about PC opinions. Make sure you specify that.

I have it for ps2 and I like it fine so far. With each game that comes out theres gonna be people that love the game and people that hate the game.Don't listen to anybody until you exprience it yourself.

Ps.why do people try to compare it to the nfsu series it has notheing to do with the undergrounrd series Or else it would be call Need for speed Underground Most wanted or something like that.
It's like compareing Need for speed hot pursuite to NFSU2 they have very little in common.I hope you all understand what I mean!

Well, the Underground series did introduce street racing/car customization . Most Wanted shares a lot from the Underground series (mostly Underground 2), while adding/taking away features. You still have Car Customization (although not as broad), a Free Roaming city, Street Racing, etc. Most Wanted is definitely moving away from the Underground series, although it isn't quite out of the neighborhood.
