( for ps2 ) Well, I rented it and played maybe 4-5 hours this weekend, and even though I hated the demo, man I had A LOT of fun with this game! It is going on my christmas list for sure. I love the free roam cop chases and the nice mix of cars and finaly some *****ing porsches to look forward to. Sure it may screw up my driving skills for the ST series temporarily, but its so much fun I don't care. I gotta say, the one thing about the game that pisses me off is the fact that I cannot change views wilst in motion...its was there for NFSU2, why not this? But that aside, I cannot wait to get farther in the game, and am enjoying it. 8.3 outa 10 for me!

The cop chases are quite easy in the beginning, but progressively get a lot harder as you work your way up the black list and up the bounty on your car. I have the game for PC and the visuals are vastly improved, along with the physics of the cars from Underground 2. I play with the DFP on my PC, and as far as I can see the PC version does not support 900 degrees rotation. Even though there is less options for modding your car, I do like that everything is centralized in one shop. I hated driving around to various shops (wasting tons of time) in Underground 2. Now you just go to a shop and it gives you the options for performance/visual/body/etc. The AI gets me worked up a little bit when it decides to slam it's breaks for no reason and come to an almost complete stop right in front of you. After you slam into it, or frantically avoid it, the car quickly catches up and passes you. :yuck:

Visual Mods as far as I can see:

1. Bodykits (no individual pieces)
2. Hoods, Rims, Spoilers, roof scoops
3. Paint, Vinyl, decals, #'s, window tint, etc

I am sure there is some that I have left out, but there is nowhere near the amount of visual customization in Most Wanted as there was in Underground 2. This game focuses more on working your way up the black list and bounty, unlike Underground 2 where you had to visually customize your car to advance the game. I like the new layout because I don't have to add a bunch of junk to my car that I don't need.

I agree 100% .

i suppose he has a point. I mean, now many getaway cars have you seen with bright green or deep blue glows underneath the car? hardly any i should imagine.

Well, some of the modifications available actually weren't that bad looking but at some stages the options you gave you to advance your Star Rating were absolute crap so you had to deal with it. But as you advance there are many varieties of modifications to fit almost anyone's liking.

In the beginning it was ok, mid-way through it was horrendous, and by the time you got to the end the big wing, ugly bodykit, neon under carriage, etc had grown on you so getting the 10 stars wasn't all that bad. The cars I drove in Quick Race mode were like night and day compared to the cars I drove in career mode. Not having a star rating to worry about is definitely a breast of fresh air :)

Very true. But if you had enough money you can make a side project car that you don't have to worry about the star rating.

in underground 2 there was only about 40 decals to put on the doors, windows, and quarter pannels, in most wanted there are 103. there is a back room where you select your unique parts and you dont have to use them, you can save them all for later on to build a really fast car.

also, in underground you had to make your car look beter to get rep, in most wanted the customization is used to change the look of your car so the cops dont recognize you ;)

My brother rented it but they only had is for PS2, god it sucks on PS2, I really need to get the Xbox version.

I almost cringed when I saw how it ran on PS2. Just awful. It's almost like EA didn't even try. Clearly, this game was designed for the Xbox 360 and whitewashed for the other consoles. It looks like a good time to upgrade my computer or wait for the 360 version.

It makes me not want to play the game (and play Burnout instead) when I have lackluster graphics and a control scheme that is sluggish at best. Maybe EA should have called this Need for Speed: Underground in the Day Time.

👎

The last version I would buy for Most Wanted is PS2. It looks horrendous, and is supposed to be the slowest version. I hear Xbox isn't that bad, but if you want to really enjoy the graphics/gameplay go with the Xbox 360 or PC.

I started to play it last night and I didn't like the control scheme too much (rearview on triangle sucks, how am I supposed to press it without stop accelerating the car?). I went into options to change it and one of the schemes had a camera change button, but I don't remember which.

I've played it for only about an hour and I liked it. The graphics aren't the best on PS2, but the only NFS with great graphics on PS2 is HP2 really. I liked the story so far, losing your M3 racing and having to earn it back sounds cool. The phisics are arcade as always, but now it seems the car turns too much in corners. Or maybe I'm just unused to NFS games, I kept hitting the inside walls a lot last night because of that.

But even with its problems I think I'll like this game better than the UG series. 👍

I agree, I like the storyline, working your way up the black list...ricing cars isn't the focal point...I really enjoy this game.

You can change the views while driving, just re-map the button.
You can't re-map only one button on the PS2 version, and because of that I got stuck with rearview on the triangle button. :grumpy:

Hey, FatAss! :) bring up the pause menu while you are cruising or in a race, go to performance tuning and you can tweak the handling or steering to your liking, and really get your car dialed in.

Thanks, man. I'll try that tonight. 👍

i only have a PS2, should i still get this game becaue i really want it and what is so bad about it on the PS2?

Quote from IGN:
The PC, GameCube, and Xbox versions display minimal to no flickering or aliasing, while the PS2 version instantly gives away its limitations.

The PS2 version seems to have the lowest visual quality. Others here can help you in that department, because I play it on PC. The game itself is very fun if you are into the Need for Speed series. They put more emphasis on racing/rising up the blacklist than putting visual addons to advance in the game. To be honest, when I got my Golf GTI at the start of the game I did Bodykit/Rims/Paint, and have only added a Carbon Fiber Hood since (not counting performance mods) and I am already on blacklist #10 and I believe 18%-20% completed.

The AI leaves a lot to be desired, however. One thing that is less than appealing to me is the fact that they brought back the 'Catch up' feature from Underground 1. If the AI wrecks and you get a huge lead, it will diminish shortly after. Another thing, have you guys noticed that the AI will slow down if you wreck and they take the lead? I play with the DFP so no keyboard banging, but doesn't it just irritate you when the AI will come to a complete stop for no reason at all causing you to either A) Wreck or B) Frantically avoid them and then gas it and be up to full speed in a matter of secs?

If you can see past the games obvious flaws, it is actually quite fun. The driving is a much more enjoyable experience than Underground 1 & 2, the cars actually feel like they have true weight. Everything in the environment minus buildings and the like is destructible, and there are plenty of shortcuts that require you to bust through fences and drive down back alleyways..I could go on forever, it is a great game. Rent it before you buy it, and see if you like it.

wow, i had to go through alot of **** to get to this guy:

i got my new porsche impounded:

i had a chase over 13 min long:

i broke my speed trap record:

in the end i beat #6 and got his pink slip, i also unlocked the VIPER 👍

Oh I dont doubt that many have beaten the game already. Im about 1/2 of the way there myself.

The only place that seems to stock the "black" edition is GAME. if thats the case i am not going to buy it, cause i cant trade there (well i can but i dont want to get ripped off).

Is it really worth the extra £12?? (normal £33, black £45!) It says the only extra bits (of interest) is
-2 cars straight off
-specialy tuned cars
-new races.

On the M3 & the camaro, does that mean you do get them normally, you just have to get them up as apposed to them being there straight away in the black version??
Specially tuned cars?? whats that mean??
New races??
