Just bizzare. Who could have predicted a Coyotes-Kings WCF? And a Capitals-Devils ECF is looking possible too.

I almost had a heart attach while watching my Rangers play last night. Scored tieing goal with 6.6 seconds left and then scores in OT to take a 3-2 series... man oh man was that close!!

I so want to see a Rangers x Devils playoff!!!

That would be worth watching

I want to see LA beating Desert Dogs and Flyers-Caps ECF and Stanley Cup final as LA-Flyers and LA winning in 4-6.

You know who I want to win. :D

But seriously, the underdog team who has never been this far before actually winning the whole thing would be EPIC. Especially since they are being sold. :(

Well, Devils are through to next round. Hopefully my Rangers win tonight and then the local smack talk can happen. I might try to pick up some tickets for Devils arena cuz the MSG playoff prices are ridiculously high

I thought I read that they're 1200 bucks? That's insane.

As an aside, the NHL is holding their breath here I think. They're potentially dealing with a NYR-LA final, or a PHX-NJ final. One would be a ratings explosion, and the other a disaster.

NYR-LA or NJ-LA final = Good ratings. Any final with PHX is just going to be awful for ratings. A shame because Phoenix has a lot of talent, but they have **** fan support. Kind of sad when the majority of Arizona has no clue that they have an NHL team, or just doesn't care. Does the heat make some people delusional?

Well when you have a team that never gets this far, like, ever....

Same thing happens to the D-Backs. They lose -> nobody cares. Happens to a lot of teams in pretty much any sport. Also doesn't help that most of the games lately have been on a cable channel that I don't get.

I hope you realize that New Jersey, and the New York Islanders are in pretty bad situations too. Devils games are constantly very under capacity.

As an aside, I swear it seems like Canadian hockey fans don't want hockey to succeed in Phoenix. Southern expansion has been great for growing the game, sometimes the big picture is more important than having a team in Hamilton.

The expansion has only worked in a few markets in the south (Tampa Bay because of their success). Teams in Atlanta failed twice (Atlanta Flames moved to Calgary, Atlanta Thrashers to Winnipeg). The California Seals had 2 name changes, a relocation to Cleveland, and ultimately merged with the Minnesota North Stars.

The reason Phoenix is failing, like other teams, is because they didn't have the instant success required to garner fan support. Then again, you can't really expect much out of an expansion team, problem with Phoenix is that the arena they shared with the Suns, the arena wasn't made to accommodate an NHL rink, the result being that capacity was limited to 16000 seats, meaning the lost revenue from 2000 seats that couldn't be used lowered the amount of profit possible. What is surprising, is that from the team's relocation from Winnipeg in 1996 to 2001, they had 6 straight seasons of .500 hockey. When the Coyotes struggled from 2002 to around 2008, fans pretty much gave up on the team. Then again, who could blame them? Nobody wants to watch a team that sucks. And despite the fact teams have improved, it will take some time before attendance in Phoenix improves.

And you're right, I don't want hockey to succeed in Phoenix, when there are better markets out there that don't have a team, Seattle is a good example.

Actually one of the biggest reasons Phoenix is failing is because of where they built the rink. It's more than an hour outside Phoenix... People in Arizona already aren't nuts about hockey so if it's difficult to get there why bother to make the effort?

Secondly the upper management there is atrocious. For example look at Nashville. Definately not a hockey town however they make a profit there year in and year out. Why? Well since they were an expansion franchise they have started high school hockey programs and helped fund them in 16 high schools. Dallas has done roughly the same with their "Junior Stars" hockey program. That gets people interested as both fans and players by atleast making them aware of the game. Phoenix has done none of that.

Infact I come from a city of less than 50 000 people outside Vancouver. We played Phoenix's top ranked team when I was 15 and we beat them... There isn't a lot of hockey development there at the grassroots level and it hurts their ticket sales. The old owner of Phoenix and now the NHL never put a dime into that community and in fact have taken massive sums of money ($92 million) of their tax dollars. Now if I was a resident of Glendale, where the team actually is, I'd be pretty mad that money wasn't going to education, health or protective services. It won't ever work where it is now and I don't know why so many people with high paying jobs can't see that.

Kings won 4-2. :D Undefeated on the road and now we have home ice advantage!

Brown, Kopitar and Quick still keep it going.

[Edit]: Lol Derek Morris red line goal.

What is a sieve? (Im from Finland)
A sieve is literally this:

It's Canadian hockey slang for a bad goalie, the joke is a sieve goalie lets pucks through just as easily as a sieve allows water through.
