In case you didn't get the results from last night...

* The bright lights of New York City didn't phase the Chicago Blackhawks, as they won 5-3 last night on the NBCSN Wednesday Night Rivalry game.

* The Colorado Avalanche caved in the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in Denver.

* Ear-to-ear smiles were on the faces of Minnesota Wild fans. RedDragon's Minnesota Wild iced the Calgary Flames 5-3 in Calgary. Back-to-back wins now for the Wild.

On this Thursday night, we got 11 games on the card tonight. Among other games... AnthonyD1993's Detroit Red Wings will meet a resurgent Sidney Crosby and his Pittsburgh Penguins in Pittsburgh. Boston77's Bruins will be at the Nashville Predators. The Tampa Bay Lightning will host the Winnipeg Jets. The Los Angeles Kings will head to the Midwest to meet kolio's St. Louis Blues. The other SoCal NHL team, the Anaheim Ducks, will entertain the Vancouver Canucks in Vancouver. Sanji Himura's Dallas Stars will head into the desert to meet the Arizona Coyotes. Will the Florida Panthers enjoy a fish dinner when the San Jose Sharks come to Sunrise, FL?

Enjoy tonight's action.

It's seems one of two scenario's are going on with the Wild as they've won 3 straight since Torchetti took over. They are now only 2 points out of a wild card spot so they could realistically still make it.

1) Yeo really was the problem.

2) The players are actually trying since their scapegoat is gone.

They should get a real test on Sunday in the pool game. I'm guessing ice conditions will be terrible as it will be flirting with the 40's. They really should have done this outdoor game in December instead of late February.

I have been thinking number 2.

It takes a good coach to keep players motivated and willing to really play their heart out every night.

Obviously not every team is going to play their hardest every night. A good coach can keep his players ready to bite.

Annnnd I basically just said reason number 1. So I guess I say it is both reasons.

Heads up! NHL Network's showing the 2016 Stadium Series Alumni Game between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Minnesota Wild/North Stars in the St. Paul-Minneapolis area. Should be a nice little game for those of you who'll be watching. Then of course, get ready for one of three big games the NBC networks will be showing- Chicago at Minnesota. Speaking of Minnesota, they have a brutal schedule coming up with theie next five games. Check this out: Chicago (tomorrow), New York Islanders, at Philadelphia, at Washington, and home against Florida. Yikes! The Wild are going to have to win at least three of these next five to help their Western Conference cause. Easier said than done. Not impossible, though.

Enjoy today's/tonight's games.

Good news! My Canucks set an NHL record last night!

Bad news! That record was to be the first team ever to lose 4 straight games by the score of 5-2. I think it's time to join #teamtank

Did you guys hire Mike Yeo after we canned him?
He can't be any worse than Willie Desjardins, right?
Seriously though, last night when down by 1 instead of putting out the Sedins after the other team iced the puck he put out the 4th line.

Minnesota won the Alumni Game 6-4 against Chicago. It was so cool seeing the old pictures of the players. But man... mullets and mustaches aplenty! I liked the little play fight early in the game. You know, it's pretty interesting having an Original Six team like Chicago go up against one of the youngest franchises with Minnesota. Of course, the Wild is the much younger team even with the old North Stars. I was surely pleased seeing Mike Modano. Also, amazing weather in Minneapolis(?) for this game. We could use that sunny upper 30s Farhenheit down here in Texas after an unusually upper 70s day here in Houston.

Not to be forgotten, but congratulations to Steven Stamkos for knocking down goal #300 in his career. He and his Tampa Bay Lightning won the only game that went Final as of this post- a 4-2 win for Tampa Bay at Pittsburgh.

And THIS JUST IN... Jaromir Jagr scored goal #742 as I was typing up this post. He's now third all-time in career goals scored, passing Brett Hull.

There were nine games today and tonight. So congratulations to all the winners from today.

St. Louis at Arizona game is in progress... and boy o' boy is it interesting.

5 goals in the 1st period. 4 of them being for the Blues. And poor goaltending set it all off.

EDIT: Alexander Steen is injured with an upper-body injury. I am positive he has an arm injury (left). I wouldn't be surprised if it is a fracture near the elbow.

This really blows. He is damn near the most valuable player on the team.

Unless the 2016 Daytona 500 is a snoozefest, the NHL has your back, especially with three great games on the NBC Networks. First, we got the Pittsburgh Penguins going into upstate New York to meet the Buffalo Sabres. After that is the Stadium Series with the Chicago Blackhawks meeting the Minnesota Wild at the University of Minnesota's football stadium. And finally on NBC Sports Network, it's Original Six action as the Detroit Red Wings play at the New York Rangers.

These are three of today's six NHL games. Enjoy this fine Sunday of action.

Let me touch up on some of yesterday's games.

I didn't really see this game because of the Daytona 500, but the Pittsburgh Penguins went into Buffalo and took down the Sabres 4-3.

The Minnesota Wild had themselves a jolly good time in the snow and whacking the Chicago Blackhawks. 6-1 was the final in that one as Minnesota led early and often. It almost seems like "addition by subtraction" for Mike Yeo to get canned as Wild coach and for John Torchetti to take over. Now the Wild have won four straight. This is still a tough five-game stretch for the Wild as they'll host the Islanders next. So I don't forget, and albeit a good bit late... congratulations to RedDragon's beloved Zach Parise on surpassing the 600 goal mark this past Wednesday.

Original Six hockey was played in New York City as the Rangers hosted the Detroit Red Wings. The game would have ended 1-0 in favor of the Rangers, but that goal in the 3rd Period was disallowed. So DET and NYR needed Overtime, and the Rangers won 1-0 in Overtime. Detroit probably want to play all of their remaining games at home because this is yet another successive road loss for the Red Wings. The Red Wings will be back at The Joe Louis Arena tomorrow night when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Other Sunday results: CGY at ANA (5-2; Anaheim), TB at CAR (4-2; Tampa Bay), and COL at VAN (5-1; Vancouver)

Tonight is a four-game night. One game will be on NBCSN. Here is tonight's lineup:

* ARI Coyotes at WAS Capitals
* COL Blue Jackets at BOS Bruins
* NSH Predators at MON Canadiens
* SJ Sharks at STL Blues

Go enjoy some hockey on this Monday night.

I read that G Brian Elliott of the St. Louis Blues will be on the shelf for about four months with his injury. Sad break for the Blues. All the best to Elliott in his recovery.

We got nine games tonight. NBCSN will show tonight's match between the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Detroit Red Wings. Here are some more games on tonight... RedDragon and Northstar's Minnesota Wild will host the New York Islanders. The Philadelphia Flyers will be at the Carolina Hurricanes. It's Sanji Himura's Dallas Stars going up to Winnipeg tonight to take on the Jets. The Los Angeles Kings will be hosting the Calgary Flames. The Nashville Predators will head up to Toronto to meet the Maple Leafs.

Well, go enjoy some NHL hockey, friends.

Elliot is out for a while. 4 months. :(

I am not sure how long Alexander Steen will be out though.

Ryan Reaves may have consequences with his big hit early on in the game against the Sharks.

The Red Wings finally won a game what felt like a million game losing streak.
I watched from 3rd Period to the end. They got robbed by the early whistles twice. The first early whistle, I could understand why. But not the second.

It is the final Wednesday of February 2016. So let's go one more time with Wednesday Night Rivalry. Tonight consists of four games. Here's how this Wednesday night look:

* MON Canadiens at WAS Capitals
* PIT Penguins at BOS Bruins (NBCSN Wednesday Night Rivalry)
* SJ Sharks at COL Avalanche (also shown on NBCSN)
* BUF Sabres at ANA Ducks

Other musings...

* Speaking of Montreal, there was a social media incident which has hit the Montreal Canadiens hard from a promotional deal by the Habs. What happened? Here is an article I found on MSN Sports: http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nhl/habs-apologize-for-twitter-disaster/ar-BBpUttq

* The Minnesota Wild will put Jason Zucker on injured reserve (concussion). Hope he'll be alright.

* Wish Scott Hannan well in his retirement. He's hanging it up after 16 NHL seasons.

Enjoy some NHL hockey tonight. Good luck to all of your teams.

The next person who tries to tell me that Ryan Suter is an elite d-man and is the best on our team is gonna get punched in the face. Last night he make countless mistakes, turned the puck over and was out of position. The onlyreason he was able to get away with his mistakes was Jared Spurgeon, his undersized partner on the blue line. If you are looking for a true elite player for the Wild then Spurge or Jonas Brodin are our best. Not the over-paid lump of lazy 🤬 that is Ryan Suter

So do you think Ryan Suter could or should be traded, @RedDragon ? Or who do you think could be traded on the Wild?

I forgot to mention that tonight on NHL Network, there will be a movie called "Soul on Ice: Past, Present, and Future." It is a movie that is supposed to chronicle on Blacks in hockey. It seems like a movie that will be very interesting to know of black players in hockey. In today's NHL, you probably know of players like P.K. Subban, Wayne Simmonds, and Joel Ward among others. I probably won't see this movie, but I am very intrigued about it. I'm black myself, so this movie kind of hits me personally.

More information about the movie to be shown on NHL Network later tonight: http://www.soulonicemovie.com/ . It's just something you may want to check out if you'll be watching NHL Network tonight. I will probably be watching the NBCSN coverage of Pittsburgh at Boston tonight.

Reading that rant on Suter made me realize that I don't get as angry with sports team performances and the players for said teams as I thought I did.

Trade Suter!? He's one of Chuck Fletcher's golden signings. A $7million dollar contract at age 30. He's got a **** contract that no one would dare take on. As far as I remember ge has 7 years left on a 11 year contract. If we trade anyone it'll be Brodin, Spurgeon or Matt Dumba as they are the young talent on our blue line. The best case I think is Jonas Brodin plus maybe a lower level prospect for Jonathan Drouin and a 4-5th round pick or a prospect of some type.

If I was the GM, Suter would already be gone and we would hace someone else instead. Maybe Eric Karlsson as he is a very Offensive D-Man

Dan Hamhuis is being asked to waive his no trade clause as the team is seeking to deal him to the Chicago Blackhawks. What does this spell for you Canucks fans? A blown season?

EDIT: Also in more trade news (also involving the Blackhawks), they are making the very hard push to acquire Jets Forward Andrew Ladd by the trade deadline, according to sources, as he was a very late healthy scratch against the Stars last night.

Enjoy today's games and tonight's games- including the big Stadium Series match between the Detroit Red Wings at the Colorado Avalanche.

Nine games on tonight. Let me touch on a few of the games that went final as of the time of this post.

* First, the big Stadium Series game at Coors Field. Home runs are going to be hit, but home runs of a different kind. Some boys in red from Detroit decided to pay a visit to the Mile High City to meet the Avalanche. Ain't never scared, Detroit went into the 3rd Period down 2-1, and the MoTown boys won 5-3. No walk-off magic tonight for the Colorado Avalanche.

* The New York Rangers won 3-2 at the Dallas Stars.

* 4-2 was the score in Philadelphia as the Philadelphia Flyers soared high over the Arizona Coyotes. No win for the 'Yotes on this day.

* The Keystone State's other NHL team hosted the Winnipeg Jets. It was 4-1 in Pittsburgh as the Pittsburgh Penguins took down the Jets.

* Of the NHL's Original Six, two of them are from Canada, and both tangled today in Montreal. Putting on the 4-1 beat down was the Montreal Canadiens over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

* "Beat Down of the Day" goes to Nashville, as kolio's St. Louis Blues got whacked 5-0 by the Nashville Predators.

* Florida at Columbus couldn't be settled in regulation or in Overtime. So this one had to settled in a Shootout. The Blue Jackets tamed the Florida Panthers 4-3 in a Shootout.

Congratulations to the eventual winners of Ottawa at Calgary and Buffalo at Los Angeles.

The NHL Trade Deadline has come and gone. One will have to wonder just how every team will do moving forward with their traded players.

Tonight is a six-game night. Among tonight's six games is a Detroit at Dallas. So go enjoy some hockey tonight.

PLAY HOCKEY! It's the first Wednesday of March 2016. Three games are on tonight including this week's Wednesday Night Rivalry game on NBCSN- an Original Six match in MoTown at The Joe. Check out how this Wednesday looks:

* TOR Maple Leafs at WAS Capitals
* CHI Blackhawks at DET Red Wings (NBCSN Wednesday Night Rivalry)
* MON Canadiens at ANA Ducks

Go enjoy some hockey tonight.
