How about a rundown of Wednesday's action? Here you go...

* The NBCSN Wednesday Night Rivalry game of the week was between Chicago at St. Louis. I saw most of the game, including what I thought was a clean hit by St. Louis on a Chicago player, but the fellow who made the shoulder-on-chest hit ended up getting ejected when I thought he shouldn't have. The game ended up going to a Overtime followed by a Shootout. In the Shootout, it was St. Louis who got the 3-2 victory. Can you believe this game was the 300th all-time meeting between these two?

* A Shootout was needed not only in St. Louis, but also in Toronto. Regulation and Overtime didn't solve anything between Toronto and the visiting New York Islanders. Toronto won at home 4-3 in the Shootout.

* Regulation didn't solve anything in Calgary, but this one didn't need a Shootout. Instead, the Calgary Flames scored the golden goal to beat the visiting Nashville Predators 3-2.

* Overtime was also needed in Vancouver as none of the games in Canada could be completed in regulation. The Canucks of Vancouver put down the Arizona Coyotes 3-2.

* Sixty minutes wasn't enough in Los Angeles, so Overtime was needed here too. The Los Angeles Kings reigned supreme defeating the Washington Capitals 4-3.

* The only game that was settled in regulation was in Denver between the Anaheim Ducks and the Colorado Avalanche. After sixty minutes and three periods, it was the Avs who downed the Ducks 3-0.

Five out of six games that went into Overtime and one shutout. There you have it. You're welcome, world. Congratulations to all winners from Wednesday.

Spare some thoughts for P.K. Subban of the Montreal Canadiens, who suffered a non-serious neck injury with an unfortunate accident involving one of his teammates. He was released from the hospital last night or so, and I think he has never missed an NHL game due to injury. Tough dude. Just hope he'll be okay, and I think he should be.

Happy day today for a few of our GTPlaneteers. It ain't name dropping. I don't do that stuff. Anyhow, 12 games today! Here's a look at many of the ones that went Final as of this post...

* Big win for AnthonyD1993's Detroit Red Wings at home, taking down the New York Rangers 4-3, but this one needed Overtime to settle the score. I'd imagine this was a happy day at The Joe.

* 4-1 was the score in Montreal as RedDragon and Northstar's Minnesota Wild took out the Montreal Canadiens.

* Boston77's Boston Bruins took down the visiting New York Islanders 3-1.

* Neither regulation nor Overtime could solve the issues between Philadelphia and Florida. Omnis' Florida Panthers took down the Flyers 5-4 in a Shootout at home.

* In-province pride was on the line between Ontario's Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators. In Canada's capital city of Ottawa, it was the Senators who took down the Maple Leafs 4-0.

* Out west in Canada, just win-nipeg, baby! The Winnipeg Jets won 3-2 hosting the Colorado Avalanche.

* The Carolina Hurricanes and Buffalo Sabres needed more than 60 minutes to settle their differences. When it was all said and done, it was the Buffalo boys who won at home over the visiting Carolina Hurricanes.

Congratulations to the eventual winners of games in progress as of this post.

If Pittsburgh is to make any kind of extended run, they'll have to do so without the services of Malkin, who was injured and is done for the season.

As of now, the Penguins are at the New York Rangers. Later tonight is a match between two Original Six teams separated by 230 miles (approx. 372 km) and the USA-Canada border- Toronto Maple Leafs at the Detroit Red Wings.

Enjoy some NHL hockey, folks. Don't forget to chime in here whenever you like.

Detroit doesn't deserve to go to the playoffs this year. If they get in, they'll get destroyed by whoever they play. They're playing like ass and just got completely outplayed by the Maple Leafs.

Brenden Morrow is expected to announce his retirement Thursday as a member of the Dallas Stars. I wish him well in his retirement.

I saw most of the Toronto at Detroit game last night. That game could have been 2-1, Toronto if those two goals prior weren't disallowed. The Red Wings could have had a little more playoff insurance had they win. I think Detroit will be okay, but they got to cash in a few more wins to help their cause. Now is NOT the time to stumble.

As far as Brenden Morrow is concerned, indeed. Best wishes to him retiring.

The Detroit Red Wings at Philadelphia Flyers will be shown at the bottom of the hour on NBCSN. So if you're looking for a nationally-televised game tonight, Detroit and Philadelphia will entertain you. DET at PHI is one of eight games tonight. Among a few others... we got Dallas hosting Los Angeles, Minnesota going up to Ottawa to take on the Senators, and Tampa Bay at Toronto.

Have a great night, everyone! Enjoy some NHL hockey.

Wednesday Night Rivalry is on deck. It's the Philadelphia Flyers at the Chicago Blackhawks on NBCSN. I'm sure Detroit fans are hoping the Flyers lose at Chicago to help out their Wild Card positioning. Chicago, meanwhile, have been on a bit of a losing funk. This is a playoff push, so of course you're going to root on teams you otherwise don't like or care much about just to help your team.

Enjoy tonight's games.

Edmonton Oilers is eliminated from playoff contention tonight following a 3-2 loss from the visiting Colorado.

Better luck next season to Edmonton, then. Other scores from this past Sunday's seven games...

* The Anaheim Ducks went up to Winnipeg and beat the Jets 3-2. This game, however, was settled in Overtime.

* New Jersey won 2-1 at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

* The Pittsburgh Penguins blasted the Washington Capitals in a very chippy game. 6-2 was the score the Penguins won by in Pittsburgh.

* The Calgary Flames traveled to Montreal and handed the Canadiens a 4-1 defeat.

* The Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks were too good to settle their differences in regulation. Overtime couldn't settle the score either. So in the end, it was Wild Nation prevailing in Chi-town with a 3-2 win in a Shootout.

* The Arizona Coyotes paid a visit to the San Jose Sharks. The more ferocious animals in this one were the Sharks. The Sharkies won 3-0.

And as our Sanji Himura mentioned, the Edmonton Oilers lost 3-2 to the visiting Colorado Avalanche. Congratulations to all winners from Sunday.

Really disappointed at the Edmonton loss. They had 1 job and they stuffed that up.

Yhe Calgary game was the first start for new Flames and ex-Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom who wss traded for David Jones.

Challlie Coyle in the shootout! Wow!

In less than an hour, NBCSN is set to show the Los Angeles Kings pay a visit to the Minnesota Wild. The Wild are currently on the outside of the Wild Card race. If they want to make the playoffs, they may basically have to win out just to secure a Wild Card berth. Tomorrow night's Wednesday Night Rivalry game is a good old Original Six match between the Boston Bruins at the New York Rangers.

Go enjoy tonight's games, NHL fans.

Presenting today's marquee game:
The good guys: Your Minnesota Wild!
The bad guys: the colorado avalanche
Location: Pepsi Center, Denver, Colorado

Let's go Wild!

At this rate, I'm pretty certain that the Wings are missing the playoffs this year. I kind of had a feeling that this year would be the year it would happen especially with the coaching change.

The Stanley Cup. You know you want your team to win it. Guess what? Time is running out. Games are running out. I've already seen commercials hyping up the playoffs coverage on the NBC networks. If your team(s) are still in it or haven't yet clinched a playoff berth, there's still time... just not too much left.

Only two games on this 14(!) game day went final as of this post was Pittsburgh at Detroit. And unfortunately, the Joe Louis Arena wasn't too happy seeing their Red Wings get stomped on and run over 7-2 by the Penguins. Ouch. The other final was the Buffalo Sabres defeating the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 in Buffalo.

Congratulations to all other winners from Saturday's games.

Three. The Stars beat the Sharks 4-2. They played an afternoon game.

4. That's also the number of goals scored at the Pepsi Center as the Wild #rekt the Avs post-season hopes with a 4-0 victory to move 5 points clear

Three games? Okay... FACT: I use the Sports application for Windows 10. I somehow found there were 14 games when I checked. The app has been a bit erratic for me lately when I use it. That's how I normally keep up with NHL scores. So I apologize for this.

As for other games up to and beyond the timeo f this post, congratulations to the Stars winning on the road at San Jose 4-2. Congrats also to the Minnesota Wild winning 4-0 at Colorado. RedDragon's beloved Z. Parise accounted for two of the Wild's four goals, and Dubnyk got 29 saves and his fifth shutout of the season. Dubnyk was probably like, (finger wag) "no goals for you, Colorado."

On right now on NBCSN is the Buffalo Sabres at the Detroit Red Wings. They are then going to show a California showdown as the Los Angeles Kings pay a visit to the San Jose Sharks. So go check out NBCSN if you're looking for a game to watch tonight.

DET is currently ahead of BUF 1-0 with 12:39 left in the 2nd Period as of this post.

According to ESPN's Bottom Line, Ottawa is the only remaining Canadian team that hasn't yet been eliminated from postseason consideration. Of the four major American sports, there are MUCH more Canadian teams in the NHL than the NFL (which has none), NBA, and Major League Baseball combined. It would stink to not have any Canadian teams in this upcoming postseason. I think I also read Canadian teams have made the postseason every season since 1979. So imagine no Canadian teams in this upcoming postseason if it happens.

Elsewhere, tonight is the final Wednesday Night Rivalry for March 2016. Here is what your Wednesday night looks like:

* OTT Senators at WPG Jets
* WAS Capitals at PHI Flyers (NBCSN Wednesday Night Rivalry)
* CGY Flames at ANA Ducks

So are you ready to see the Capitals show no love to the boys from the City of Brotherly Love in Philly? Enjoy yourself some hockey tonight.

Tsk, tsk, tsk Chicago. During last night's game between the Wild and the Hawks big Challlie Coyle knocked Duncan Keith over. Keith then swung his stick and hit Coyle's face open. Keith got a match penalty and was ejected for intent to injure. The thing is, this isn't his first time doing this. He almost took out Jeff Carter with a malicious chop of the stick during the playoffs a few years ago. Hopefully the league has a long look at this and gives a punishment that matches the crime.
In the 2nd period there was a great fight between Andrew Shaw and Matt Dumba. Dumba had the better of Shaw the entire fight and took off his helmet with one of the first punches.
In non penalty news the Wild took down the Hawks 4-1 to complete the 1st sweep of the Hawks when playing 5 or more games in a single season since the 1930s

Yeah, I thought about you, RedDragon when I learned of Coyle taking that high stick. Hope he'll be alright. I am pretty sure the suspension to Duncan Keith will be closure.

As of this post, the WAS at PHI match basically just started. No score with about 17:35 left in the 1st Period.

It's good that Keith was thrown out if the game because Coyle was ticked off. Not sure if the Hawks player would have survived the rest of the game honestly...

No Canadian teams will be in the playoffs for the second time ever in NHL history. The only other time it occurred before this year was 1970.

Howe do you do? Say happy birthday to Gordie Howe, who turned 88 years old today! Still going strong and kicking. Got to love it.

The Arizona Coyotes have been officially eliminated from Playoff contention with a 4-1 loss here in Dallas. Dallas has now 103 pts, with 4 games remaining and the St. Louis Blues, sitting at 101 pts, and Chicago Blackhawks, sitting at 95 pts, play tomorrow night against Boston and Winnipeg respectively.

In other news, Washington Capitols have clinched the Presidents Trophy.
