Hey, the Wings are actually on a 2 game win-streak.

Howard was a boss last night.

One of the most interesting games tonight is San José at Pittsburgh- a rematch of the 2015-2016 Stanley Cup Finals. About 11 games are on tonight. Yahoo! Sports is showing Colorado at Tampa Bay. Games to be played later tonight: LA at DAL, CAR at CGY, STL at EDM, and BUF at VAN.

[UPDATE] Colorado at Tampa Bay, not Tampa Bay at Colorado.

The Red Wings beat the Predators with a 5-3 victory last night.

The biggest thing from the game was Dylan Larkin's fight. Not exactly a highlight reel fight, but given that he doesn't try to mix it up in general, he really held his own against Yannick Weber.

Hey, y'all! I just remembered- today is the Heritage Classic in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The Alumni Game is currently going on. Most legends have retired and stuff, but I think it is so cool that these retired players and such play like they still are active players. This would be like if Richard Petty was still racing in NASCAR trying to secure an eighth NASCAR Cup championship.

12 games on today and tonight. So enjoy some NHL hockey today and tonight, GTPlanet!

Joel Erikson-Ek is making his NHL debut. He played pretty well in the 1st period. It's been a defensive game so farat 0s after the 1st and no real scoring chances either way.

Here are a few NHL musings...

* Seems like either the Red Wings have turned things around after a slow start, or maybe Hockeytown is enjoying winning vibes. Either way... ride the wave! Keep up the good work so far. 3-0 victory against the Stanley Cup runners-up isn't too shabby.

* I saw that the Minnesota Wild lost at the New Jersey Devils 2-1 in Overtime. Sorry, RedDragon and the rest of Wild Nation.

* There was Original Six action in Boston between the Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens. It was the Habs who took down the Bruins 4-2.

* The Washington Capitals were taken down by the visiting New York Rangers 4-2 at home.

* Colorado could beat the Tampa Bay Lightning, but they couldn't beat the other Florida team. 5-2 victory for the Florida Panthers over the visiting Colorado Avalanche.

* Laugh now, cry later? After Columbus defeated Chicago the other night, they went down to Dallas and defeated the Stars 3-0. So the Blue Jackets are now 2-2 on the season.

* Pittsburgh vs. Nashville could be a Stanley Cup preview to some people. If that's how you feel, then consider Pittsburgh screwed because they lost 5-1 tonight in Nashville. The Preds asserting themselves nicely here.

Congratulations to all other winners from Saturday.

Guess I better say this while I still have the chance. The Canucks, picked to finish dead last in nearly every preseason rankings, are 4-0-1 to start the season. Don't get me wrong, this is a terrible hockey team and if they keep playing like this things are going to get bad in a hurry. But I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

They still have the Sedins, that's who beat my Blues in OT the other night. Preseason picks don't mean squat.

Lot of hockey deals you all are looking to arrange. This is quite the marketplace! :)

Only two games on tonight. This Monday Night will see the Philadelphia Flyers at the Montreal Canadiens, and the Calgary Flames will be at the Chicago Blackhawks. The team with the best record of these four teams is Montreal at 4-0-1. The one with the worst record of these four is Calgary at 1-4-1. Philly is 2-2-1, and Chicago is 3-3.

So go enjoy some NHL hockey tonight.

[OMISSION] When looking at the NHL Network's Bottom Line, I learned of a certain milestone reached by one player. I want to give a shout out to @RedDragon's beloved Zach Parise on cashing in his 300th goal of his NHL career.

There will be 11 games on tonight. Yahoo! Sports will show the Arizona Coyotes at the New Jersey Devils. NBCSN will show a doubleheader: the Buffalo Sabres at the Flyers followed by the Anaheim Ducks at the San José Sharks. So if you're looking for some games to follow, I've given you three of the 11 games to be played tonight. So go ahead and enjoy some Tuesday night NHL hockey.

The Wild looked much better tonight by winning 5-0. There were a couple stupid penalties though that should never have happened.

Congratulations to the Minnesota Wild. Let's see how everybody else did tonight...

* The Pittsburgh Penguins knocked off the visiting Florida Panthers 3-2. I read Sidney Crosby (who was a game time decision) accounted for one of the Penguins' goals.

* Maybe they just got off to a poor start. Whatever is working for the Detroit Red Wings, they'll need to keep on doing it. The Joe Louis Arena was pleased to see their Red Wings take down the Carolina Hurricanes 4-2. Good times in Hockeytown right now.

* The New Jersey Devils hosted the Arizona Coyotes, and the Devils won 5-3.

* TOUCHDOWN Lightning! 7-3 was the final in Toronto as the Tampa Bay Lightning took good care of the Toronto Maple Leafs. For a weird football reference, this would be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL leading the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL with a touchdown compared to a field goal by Toronto. Yes- I made this weird comparison. You're welcome.

* Two of my personal favorite NHL uniforms clashed in St. Louis. I love St. Louis' uniforms more, but they sadly got torched 4-1 by the Calgary Flames. So not a good night in St. Louis for kolio and prousonhairy's St. Louis Blues.

* One of two games televised on NBCSN was between the Buffalo Sabres at the Philadelphia Flyers. PHI made a comeback down 3-0 to tie the game. An extra five minutes of Overtime didn't solve anything. Afterwards, the Flyers complete the comeback winning 4-3 for the game and 2-0 in the Shootout.

* I was going to post this, until one game went final. In Dallas, it was the Stars who took down the visiting Winnipeg Jets 3-2.

And as mentioned by Northstar, the Minnesota Wild won on the road 5-0 at the Boston Bruins. Congratulations to the other winners from Tuesday.

"May I interest you in some hockey, sir/madam?" While the NBA may be warming up and while Major League Baseball is winding down, the NHL remains hot. Tonight is another bout of Wednesday Night Rivalry. On this 300th day of 2016 (66 days to go), this is tonight's schedule:

* MON Canadiens at NYI Islanders
* BOS Bruins at NYR Rangers (NBCSN Wednesday Night Rivalry)
* WAS Capitals at EDM Oilers
* NSH Predators at ANA Ducks

So you want some Original Six hockey? Well, you got it with the Bruins at the Rangers. Nothing like a Boston/NYC rivalry. Plenty of other good matches in the United States and in Canada.

Enjoy this Wednesday of NHL action, GTPlaneteers.

A couple of games went final. Let me touch up on them.

* The Boston Bruins scored the very first goal only ten seconds into the game. They'd knock in another later in the first period. Since? Five unanswered by the Rangers. NYR CRUISES to a 5-2 victory. The Rangers have now won three straight games. Also, the Bruins remain winless without T. Rask at Goalie (now 0-4-0; were 3-0-0 when T. Rask starts and 0-3-0 when not starting heading into this game).

* How did the other New York City team do? They lost. 3-2 was the margin of victory as the visiting Montreal Canadiens took down the Islanders.

Congratulations to the eventual winners of WAS at EDM and NSH at ANA.

* I was going to post this, until one game went final. In Dallas, it was the Stars who took down the visiting Winnipeg Jets 3-2.
That was a fun 4 minutes and some change. Dallas set up a 38 second two-man advantage and two minutes later, we were on the PK and their netminder pulled. That was their only cash in of the night on the Power Play as the Jets were 0-3 with the man advantage before that point. Ironically enough, it should have been a 4 on 4 with an interference call that wasn't called and offsetting minors.

Edit: I had an overview of the penalties dished out over that play, and we had an interference call that was called with offsetting minors. The Interference call was a BS call.

Interesting note about one of tonight's games... the Florida Panthers will play at the Toronto Maple Leafs. Florida comes into this game 3-2-1. Toronto comes into this game 1-2-3. Funny play on numbers, eh?

Nine games on tonight. Among some of us GTPlaneteers, we got Minnesota at Buffalo, Tampa Bay at Montreal, Dallas at Winnipeg, and Detroit at St. Louis. Games underway as of this post: MIN at BUF (1-0, MIN; 13:16 left in 1st), ARI at PHI (0-0; 19:50 left in 1st), and NYI at PIT (1-0, PIT; 13:05 left in 1st).

Congratulations to Thursday's winners once the games wrap up.
