I'm amazed. Detroit actually got a goal in the third after giving one up. That's extremely rare since they always wind up giving up goals in the third but usually don't score any in return.

They almost had 2, but Miller made what might possibly be the save of the year.

Wow... I just saw that save aarror posted. Man! You'd expect to see a grab like that in baseball. That save was almost like that catch in Major League Baseball in 2014 for the Washington Nationals to preserve the no-hitter for Jordan Zimmermann then over the Miami Marlins. Wow!

Here are some finals from this Friday night's games...

* Regulation solved nothing in Buffalo. The New Jersey Devils downed the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 in Overtime.

* The Flyers were grounded in Toronto as the Maple Leafs doubled up Philadelphia 6-3.

* If Toronto won, how did the other team from the province of Ontario do? The Senators dethroned the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 in Ottawa.

* As I was typing this, it went Final- the Washington Capitals picked up the win in Chi-Town 3-2. This game, though, needed Overtime.

Congratulations to the eventual winners of DAL at EDM and WPG at COL.

Hopefully the Wild can keep the penalties down tonight as Philadelphia is #2 in the league right now when it comes to Power Play percentage. :nervous:

Edit: 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

There was only one game on tonight- Tampa Bay Lightning at the New York Islanders. It was the Lightning that won 4-0. The New York Islanders are 7th in the Metropolitan Division.

Before I close this post out, allow me to congratulate the most recent inductees to the Hockey Hall of Fame. The 2016 HOF class includes:
* Sergei Makarov
* Eric Lindros
* John LeClair
* Mikael Renberg
* Rogie Vachon
* Bob Verdi
* Pat Quinn

Congratulations to these Hall of Famers for making it in, and also congrats to the Tampa Bay Lightning for their victory tonight.

Hey, hockey fans! Are you ready for tonight's 13 games? Here are some of the games slated for tonight:

* OTT Senators at PHI Flyers (to be shown on Yahoo! Sports)
* WAS Capitals at COL Blue Jackets
* TB Lightning at DET Red Wings
* BUF Sabres at STL Blues
* CGY Flames at MIN Wild
* NJ Devils at DAL Stars
* FLA Panthers at MON Canadiens
* NSH Predators at TOR Maple Leafs

These are among other games tonight. So go enjoy some NHL hockey tonight.

[OMISSION] Just now on "NHL Now" on the NHL Network, I heard that the Minnesota Wild will get Zach Parise back in the lineup. So that can mean only one thing to us GTPlaneteers- an ear-to-ear smile and a smitten feeling from our RedDragon. In all seriousness, though, this is good for the Wild. Parise is a solid player.

So we can't score and we are giving away far too many power plays.

It's going to be a long season if they keep playing like this. :indiff:

It could be a long season for Detroit as well. Yep- an unhappy night in Hockeytown as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated Detroit 4-3 at The Joe. And man... Nikita Kucherov is cold blooded evil. I saw the first goal he scored. It's like he just snatched the puck away from the Detroit goalie behind the net and quickly fired it in for Tampa Bay to go up 1-0. Detroit did tie, but this night was all about Tampa Bay. Oh, this was a game televised on NBCSN. I usually make mention to games you can see on TV if you're looking for a game to watch.

Time to run down some other NHL scores. Get ready...

* Staying in the Midwest, it was also a sad night in St. Paul as the Minnesota Wild lost 1-0 to the visiting Calgary Flames. Misery loves company, so this is a tough night for Red Wings and Wild fans.

* However, it was a good night for another Midwestern team- the St. Louis Blues. The Blues won 4-1 at home against the Buffalo Sabres.

* Florida and Montreal needed more than sixty minutes to settle their differences. The Florida Panthers got themselves the 4-3 Overtime win in Montreal.

* How did the other Canadian Original Six team do? Easy money. Toronto ain't never scared of no Nashville Predators. Just ask Nashville what it feels like to lose 6-2 in Toronto.

* I think NHL Network or NBCSN asked which is the most surprising team in the NHL. One of the answers to a poll was the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets surprised the Washington Capitals with a 2-1 win at home. So the Buckeye State boys took down the Caps. Washington will return home tomorrow night to be entertained by their rival Pittsburgh Penguins as part of NBCSN's Wednesday Night Rivalry.

* In Dallas, the Devils and Stars had to add some Overtime to solve their problems. The Devils escaped Dallas with a 2-1 Overtime victory.

* The Winnipeg Jets were none too kind to the visiting Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago had to accept a 4-0 thrashing by the artists formerly known as the Atlanta Thrashers. I DIDN'T KNOW... ...that the old Winnipeg Jets became the Arizona Coyotes. So I'll follow a bit more when Arizona and [today's] Winnipeg play.

* 1-0 was the final in Raleigh, NC as the Carolina Hurricanes blanked the visiting San José Sharks.

* A Shootout was needed in Philadelphia as the Ottawa Senators defeated the Philadelphia Flyers. It was a 3-2 victory for the Sens.

Congratulations to the eventual winners of NYR at VAN and EDM at ANA.

These are last night's results. Last night in Washington, D.C. was not even close. Somebody on Twitter put it perfect- Capital Punishment by Washington winning 7-1 against the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins. The Calgary Flames won at home 2-1 over Arizona.

Tonight is a ten-game slate. Yahoo! Sports will show Tampa Bay at Buffalo. The Florida Panthers will play at the Toronto Maple Leafs. We got a Western Conference Final rematch between San José at St. Louis. The Minnesota Wild will welcome the Boston Bruins. The New Jersey Devils will go way west and play at the Anaheim Ducks. These are among several other games to be played tonight.

Thursday night hockey. Go enjoy some hockey tonight, and good luck to all of your teams.

This isn't an NHL news bit, but I read about a player in the AHL named Craig Cunningham who collapsed on the ice. The game was postponed as a result. I certainly hope he'll be alright. You can read more about this incident by checking out this link: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ahl-ga...ig-cunninghams-on-ice-collapse-040836707.html

There are five games on today. The only one that has gone final as of this post was Columbus at Washington. The Capitals fell 3-2 to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Other games to be played...
* WPG Jets at CAR Hurricanes
* FLA Panthers at NYR Rangers
* CGY Flames at DET Red Wigns
* LA Kings at ANA Ducks

WPG at CAR will be shown on Yahoo! Sports.

From yesterday's games, the Minnesota Wild fell 3-2 against the visiting Colorado Avalanche. If the playoffs started today, Minnesota would not be among the Top 3 in the Central Division (currently 4th in the Central Division of the Western Conference), but they would be in by virtue of their Wild Card position. Colorado would be way out as the Avs are dead last in the Central.

Congratulations to all the eventual winners of this Sunday's games.

Tonight at 9:00 PM EST, the new logo and such will be announced for the new Las Vegas NHL team. We'll see what the NHL's 31st team will be known as.

This is very late, and I know Quebec City was considered an expansion candidate, but I think I've once heard a rumor of a possible NHL team in Baltimore. So if in the future Baltimore gets an NHL team, it would provide that Baltimore/Washington, D.C. rivalry. We already have the Ravens vs. Redskins in the NFL along with the Orioles vs. Nationals in Major League Baseball. So imagine Baltimore getting in on the NHL mix and evening out the number of teams at 32 with 16 teams in both Conferences.

Five games are on tonight. Ottawa will play at Montreal, this game on Yahoo! Sports. NBC Sports Network will show the St. Louis Blues at the Boston Bruins. Enjoy some hockey tonight, including whatever becomes of the new Las Vegas NHL team.

The Wild really need to get this penalty thing sorted out. They are giving away far too many power plays for things that shouldn't happen.:indiff:

Edit: And there's another one. :rolleyes:
Hopefully the Wild can keep the penalties down tonight as Philadelphia is #2 in the league right now when it comes to Power Play percentage. :nervous:

Edit: 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
I can't even begin to imagine how Wild's discipline is worse than Saint Louis this season.

I am pretty sure we have had 5 Too Many Men Over so far, a few Delay 'O Games and silly hooking calls. Honestly, the Blues have been horrific. I think they might actually be leading the league.

EDIT: We literally just took a penalty 1:04 into this game against the Bruins.

EDIT 2: Now we just took a "Holding the Stick" Minor about 7 minutes in and it cost us. Our Ex Captian David Backes scored it too! :(

THIS JUST IN...

Ladies and gentlemen, get to know your new Las Vegas team. They are...

...the Las Vegas Golden Knights!

So in the 2017-2018 season, we will be discussing the Golden Knights of Las Vegas as they take on the other teams. I don't know... I dig the logo and the name. They'll be in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference. Here is an article I found for you all: http://www.tsn.ca/vegas-golden-knights-introduced-as-nhl-s-31st-franchise-1.614604

That's all. Take care and have a great day/night. And welcome to the Golden Knights.

At least no matter how bad the Canucks' season goes I can take solace in the fact that they aren't called the Golden Knights. What an awful name

Yes, that's a terrible name for a hockey team. They could of at least dropped the Golden, and just been the Las Vegas Knights. That names almost as bad as the decision to put a team in Vegas in the first place, especially right near the strip. Locals shy away from the strip, because of all the tourists, and how many people are going to visit Las Vegas, and go see a hockey game?

Usually when I think of "Golden Knights," I usually think of the University of Central Florida Golden Knights. Maybe a more original nickname would probably suffice, and I thought naming a Las Vegas team as the "Gamblers" would be too cliché and too bland. Let me give you a sort of different take. Before my NFL team became the Houston Texans, one of the considered nicknames was "Wildcatters," since one of Houston's nicknames is "The Wildcat City." Some sports names work better than others. Maybe just "Knights" would be better. Look at franchises like Anaheim in the NHL and Tampa Bay in Major League Baseball. Anaheim used to be the "Mighty Ducks" before being just the Ducks, and Major League Baseball's Tampa Bay Devil Rays became just the Rays. So maybe Las Vegas will simply be the Knights in the future. Or maybe they move to Seattle and go under a different name... Oops! Did I say that out loud?

Tonight is "Thanksgiving Eve," and we got 12 games on tonight for your hockey pleasure. I don't think we have a Wednesday Night Rivalry game on NBCSN tonight, but NBCSN will show the Philadelphia Flyers at the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight. Joey D and AnthonyD1993's Detroit Red Wings will leave Hockeytown and entertain the Buffalo Sabres in Buffalo tonight. Northstar and RedDragon's Minnesota Wild will try and defend home ice from the visiting Winnipeg Jets. Tough task for Sanji Himura's Dallas Stars heading to the Music City to do battle with the Nashville Predators. Can kolio and prousonhairy's St. Louis Blues tame the Washington Capitals in Washington, D.C. tonight? These are among the slate of 12 games. And of course, I just want to shout out to the more active GTPlaneteers member of these NHL discussions. So you're welcome.

Should be a busy night! Enjoy the action!

[UPDATE/OMISSION] They are the Vegas Golden Knights, not the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

Happy Thanksgiving! Today, only two games are on. Those games:

* CAR Hurricanes at MON Canadiens
* BOS Bruins at OTT Senators

Besides this, I figured I'd share a Standings update. How are your favorite teams looking so far?

--- EASTERN CONFERENCE ---
ATLANTIC: Montreal (14-4-2, 30 pts.), Tampa Bay (13-7-1, 27 pts.), Ottawa (11-7-1), BOS (11-8-0, 22 pts.), FLA (10-9-1, 21 pts.), TOR (8-8-4, 20 pts.), DET (9-10-1, 19 pts.), BUF (7-8-5, 19 pts.)
METROPOLITAN: New York Rangers (14-6-1, 29 pts.), Pittsburgh (12-5-3, 27 pts.), Washington (12-5-2, 26 pts.), COL (10-5-3, 23 pts.), NJ (10-6-3, 23 pts.), PHI (9-9-3, 21 pts.), CAR (8-6-4, 20 pts.), CAR (8-6-4, 20 pts.), NYI (6-9-4, 16 pts.)

--- WESTERN CONFERENCE ---
CENTRAL: Chicago (13-6-2, 28 pts.), St. Louis (11-7-3, 25 pts.), Minnesota (10-7-2, 22 pts.), NSH (9-7-3, 21 pts.), DAL (8-8-5, 21 pts.), WPG (9-11-2, 20 pts.), COL 9-10-0, 18 pts.)
PACIFIC: Edmonton (12-8-1, 25 pts.), San José (11-8-1, 23 pts.), Los Angeles (11-9-1, 23 pts.), ANA (9-7-4, 22 pts.), CGY (9-12-1, 19 pts.), VAN 8-10-2, 18 pts.), ARI (6-10-2, 14 pts.)

Remember that next season, we will have to add Las Vegas (or just Vegas) to the Pacific standings. There is still a whole lot of season left. So don't feel bad if your favorite team is doing poorly right about now. Just hope they get it together rather than mail in the season.

That's all. Happy Thanksgiving!

[UPDATE] Tampa Bay's record has been updated to resolve a typo. I had typed Tampa Bay had 23 wins when they've really won 13. Changes made.

Apparently the Wild have the defending champs figures out. :lol:

Tomorrow I get the rare chance to see my second team play, unfortunately that's only because they're playing the Wild.

Yeah, I noted the Minnesota Wild spanked the Penguins 6-2 in St. Paul. Congrats to the Wild on a job well done. It would be something to think about if this season's Stanley Cup came down to the Wild and Penguins.

Would be nice to see Crosby being disciplined for that knee on knee hit with Christian Folin in the first period. Hopefully Folin isn't out for too long as he has grown to be a rather major part of our defense.

But it's Crosby, so nothing s gonna happen :/

The Wild are now 2-5 on Saturdays.:indiff:

They don't play again until Tuesday, which is a very late game (9pm local) so I doubt I'll watch it.

I still can't believe the Canucks won last night, the team is literally half AHL call ups there's been so many injuries. And now we've lost Edler as well, so things aren't getting any better.

Only two games on tonight:

* CGY Flames at NYI Islanders
* DAL Stars at STL Blues (on NHL Network)

I heard of how the Florida Panthers fired their head coach recently. It seemed pretty Bush League on how Gerard Gallant was fired. I am hopeful the Florida Panthers can get it together and have a better season. Florida is currently 5th in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference with a 11-10-1 record and 23 points.

Tuesday night NHL hockey. Who wants it? Get ready for 12 games tonight. Yahoo! Sports will be showing the New Jersey Devils at the Winnipeg Jets. The Dallas Stars will head up to Hockeytown to take on the Detroit Red Wings at "The Joe." From MoTown to Chi-Town, the Florida Panthers will meet the Chicago Blackhawks tonight. Florida's other NHL team, the Tampa Bay Lightning will meet the Columbus Blue Jacket. The Vancouver Canucks will welcome the Minnesota Wild.

These are among the many games on tonight. So enjoy some hockey and good luck to your favorite teams.

Let's end November 2016 with one last Wednesday Night Rivalry for this month. This Wednesday Night Rivalry on NBCSN will be a doubleheader. So what do your Wednesday night of NHL hockey look like? Here's the itenerary tonight:

* PIT Penguins at NYI Islanders (NBCSN Wednesday Night Rivalry)
* TOR Maple Leafs at CGY Flames
* SJ Sharks at LA Kings (NBCSN Wednesday Night Rivalry)

Off-topic... did you know the New York Rangers' franchise is worth $1.25B USD? The Rangers seem to be as rich as another New York City team- the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball. I certainly want some of that money- doesn't matter if it's the Rangers or the Yankees!

One last "Hump Day" of November 2016. Enjoy it and some NHL hockey, friends.

Travis Moen has now announced his retirement from hockey at the age of 34. He has played parts off 12 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, Montreal Canadiens and the Dallas Stars, recording 59 goals and 77 assists in 747 career games.

Moen helped the Ducks to the 2007 Stanley Cup, scoring the Cup clinching goal.

Wow... quite the journeyman at a relatively young age! My best wishes are with Travis Moen in his retirement.
