Time to touch up on some games.

* The Minnesota Wild paid a visit to the Buffalo Sabres, and the Wild won 4-0. Devan Dubnyk has himself back-to-back shutout games for MIN. Officially scoring in this one for MIN were Eriksson-Ek, Zucker, Suter, and Koivu. Good times for the Wild after tonight.

* The Pittsburgh Penguins doubled up the New York Islanders 4-2 in Pittsburgh. The boys from the Steel City did most of their damage in the 3rd Period, putting a three spot on the Isles.

* Did the other NHL team from the Keystone State win? No. The Coyotes made the flight from Phoenix to Philadelphia and handed the Flyers a 5-4 defeat.

* Detroit and St. Louis couldn't handle their business in sixty minutes. They couldn't settle things in Overtime. So a Shootout was needed for the already hot Detroit Red Wings to remain hot with a 2-1 win (2-1 in the Shootout) on the road at St. Louis.

* Toronto tamed the visiting Florida Panthers 3-2 in Toronto. The Maple Leafs scored twice in the 2nd Period as part of the final score.

* Stars are sparkly, pretty things. Well, the Dallas Stars didn't shine too brightly tonight in Winnipeg. Texas' only NHL team took a 4-1 smacking in Winnipeg.

* Tampa Bay brought the lightning to Montreal, but it was the Lightning that got thunderstruck 3-1 by the Canadiens. The Habs now run their record to 7-0-1.

Congratulations to the eventual winners of NSH at LA and COL at SJ.

[UPDATE] Eriksson-Ek is the fellow's last name. Changes made.

Not related to the NHL, but the 2018 IIHF Junior World Championship Game will reportedly be an outdoor game. It was recently announced today.

Taking a look at the standings so far, here are your current division leaders heading into tonight's games:

* EAST-ATLANTIC: Montreal (7-0-1, 15 pts.)
* EAST-METROPOLITAN: Pittsburgh (5-2-1, 11 pts.)
* WEST-CENTRAL: Minnesota (5-2-1, 11 pts.)
* WEST-PACIFIC: Edmonton (6-1-0, 12 pts.)

There are six games on tonight. Go ahead and enjoy some hockey this Halloween weekend if you'll be watching some games. And, I made the changes to my previous post.

4-0 win for the Wild against the Dallas Stars at home tonight. Devan Dubnyk back stopped us to our 3rd straight shutout. The goal scorers were Mikhail Granlund(SHG), Nino Niederreiter, Eric Staal(PPG), and Tyler Graovac. That's now a league leading 18 different goal scorers, and perhaps the best all round game of the season for the Wild. Graovac was very good after being called up from the AHL as was Cristoph Bertschy who was also called up. Erikson-Ek had perhaps his weakest game so far, but it was still an NHL level game. He looks much stronger at Center than wing

Wild scratches: Eric Haula, Zach Parise, Marco Scandella

After the last couple games it's weird seeing people still in the stands at the end of the game.:lol:

They may be getting out-shot but at least they are making what few shots they get count.

Devan Dubnyk doin' work. Got to hand it to Duubs. It almost seemed like that game was the makeup for the almost comeback by the Wild in last season's playoffs against Dallas. Hey- keep the good times rolling in St. Paul, Wild!

Now for some other Finals as of this post...

* Somebody finally cooled off the Detroit Red Wings. In one of two Original Six matches today, it was not a good night in Hockeytown as the Joe saw their beloved Red Wings go down 1-0 to the Boston Bruins.

* The only Canadian Original Six members clashed in Montreal, and the Canadiens took down the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1. Montreal's strong start continues. How about them Habs?

* The score was 3-0 in Buffalo as the Sabres took down the Florida Panthers.

* The New Jersey Devils rocked at The Rock with a 3-1 victory over the other Florida team- the Tampa Bay Lightning.

* Keystone State pride was on the line as the state's two NHL teams clashed in Philadelphia. It was Pittsburgh who won 5-4 at Philadelphia.

* The St. Louis Blues served not only Midwestern hospitality to the Los Angeles Kings, but also a 1-0 win over the Kings.

And as mentioned, the Wild whacked Sanji Himura's Dallas Stars 4-0 in St. Paul, MN. Congratulations to the eventual winners of: COL at ARI, WAS at VAN, and NSH at SJ.

NHL Network is showing Tampa Bay at the New York Rangers. So if you're looking for a game, maybe check out NHL Network.

I read that Detroit Red Wing Steve Ott's account is $2,222.22 light after spearing Zdeno Chara in last night's 1-0 loss. The spear he put on resulted in Ott getting fined.

A few games went final as of this post. Here is my report...

* Detroit suffered their first loss after their hot streak. Now, they've lost back-to-back games as the Florida Panthers defeated Detroit 5-2 in Detroit. The Red Wings' next game is part of NBCSN's Wednesday Night Rivalry as Detroit will be at the Philadelphia Flyers this Wednesday. Speaking of Philadelphia...

* The Philadelphia Flyers were on the road at the Carolina Hurricanes. The Flyers won 4-3 at Carolina.

* The Winnipeg Jets hosted the Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo grounded the Jets 3-1.

Current scores of games in progress:
* TOR at NYI (2-0; NYI, End 2nd)
* LA at CHI (1-0; CHI, 0:28 left in 1st Period)
* TB at NYR (0-0; End 1st)

Games to be played:
* OTT Senators at EDM Oilers
* WAS Capitals at CGY Flames

Congratulations to all winners up to and beyond the time of this post.

I wish Ales Hemsky of the Dallas Stars a speedy recovery. He'll be on the shelf for five to six months for hip surgery. That's a LOT to time to lose. Almost basically the regular season.

I think Minnesota Wild player Zach Parise is week-to-week with a lower body injury. Hope he'll be alright.

No games on tonight. However, there will be 12 games on tomorrow night. So get psyched for November NHL hockey.

A number of teams have played about 10 games so games so far. It's VERY early, but here is how all of the teams have shaped up so far heading into tonight's games:

--- EASTERN ---
ATLANTIC: Montreal (8-0-1, 17 pts.), Detroit (6-4-0, 12 pts.), Ottawa (5-3-0, 10 pts.), TB (5-4-0, 10 pts.), FLA (4-4-1, 9 pts.), BOS (4-4-0, 8 pts.), BUF (3-3-2, 8 pts.), TOR (2-4-3, 7 pts.)
METROPOLITAN: Pittsburgh (6-2-1, 13 pts.), New York Rangers (6-3-0, 12 pts.), Washington (5-2-1, 11 pts.), NJ (4-2-2, 10 pts.), PHI (4-5-1, 9 pts.), NYI (4-5-0, 8 pts.), COL (3-3-1, 7 pts.), CAR (2-4-2, 6 pts.)

--- WESTERN ---
CENTRAL: Minnesota (6-2-1, 13 pts.), St. Louis (5-2-2, 12 pts.), Chicago (5-3-1, 11 pts.), COL (4-3-0, 8 pts.), WPG (4-5-0, 8 pts.), DAL (3-4-1, 7 pts.), NSH (2-5-1, 5 pts.)
PACIFIC: Edmonton (7-2-0, 14 pts.), San José (6-3-0, 12 pts.), Vancouver (4-4-1, 9 pts.), CGY (4-5-1, 9 pts.), ANA (3-4-2, 8 pts.), LA (4-5-0, 8 pts.), ARI (2-6-0, 4 pts.)

Again- it's very early in the season. There are still lots of games to be played before we ultimately find out who will play for Lord Stanley's Cup. You can't play for his beautiful trophy in November. However, you don't want to lose with regularity to where you will not have good enough standings to play for the title starting in April. Keep on fighting and keep on playing hard!

I found out Zac Dalpe had knee surgery and will be out 4-6 weeks. Man... the Minnesota Wild have themselves quite the MASH unit.

There are 12 games on tonight. So go enjoy some NHL hockey tonight if you'll be watching.

Let me touch up on a few finals as of the time of this post...

* New York beat down. 5-0 was the score the New York Rangers whacked the St. Louis Blues by in New York City.

* While the Rangers did good, their best friends, the New York Islanders, did bad in Brooklyn. The Rangers WON by five; the New York Islanders LOST by five. Like, 6-1 lost by five.

* They beat Dallas in Dallas, but can the Columbus Blue Jackets beat Dallas in Columbus? Yes, sir! This game needed Overtime as the Dallas Stars fell again. It was a 3-2 victory for the Blue Jackets.

* Let's stay in the Midwest and say hello to the Minnesota Wild. Not a good night at "The X" as the Wild lost 2-1 to the Buffalo Sabres in St. Paul, Minnesota. Devan Dubnyk's shutout streak of three games was snapped, and so was the Wild's winning streak.

* It was 5-1 in Chicago as the Blackhawks iced the Calgary Flames.

* At the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida; the Florida Panthers were taken down 2-1 by the visiting Boston Bruins.

* In Toronto, Ontario, Canada; the Maple Leafs hosted the Edmonton Oilers. The game needed Overtime, and the Maple Leafs won 3-2.

* It was also 3-2 in another part of Canada, but this one was settled in regulation. The Washington Capitals defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 in Winnipeg.

* The last Canada game for this post was a game in Canada's capital city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The Ottawa Senators hosted the Carolina Hurricanes. Sixty minutes and three periods didn't solve anything. The Senators pulled through in Overtime for the 2-1 win.

Congratulations to the eventual winners of NSH at COL, SJ at ARI, and ANA at LA.

On Wednesdays, we love haters! It is the first Wednesday in November 2016. It's the "Hump Day" of the week to some people. If you want Wednesday night hockey, here is tonight's schedule:

* VAN Canucks at MON Canadiens
* DET Red Wings at PHI Flyers (NBCSN Wednesday Night Rivalry)
* PIT Penguins at ANA Ducks

Looking on Yahoo! Sports, Detroit has lost 11 straight games in Philadelphia heading into tonight. The Red Wings will hope to make sure it doesn't become 12 straight losses at Philadelphia tonight.

Enjoy tonight's games!

Philadelphia remains a House of Horrors for the Red Wings. Detroit couldn't maintain their 2-1 lead after two periods, end up losing 4-3 in Overtime. Their losing streak at Philadelphia is now 12 straight losses. Detroit haven't won in Philadelphia since 1997, I think I read.

Western Canada meets eastern Canada, and eastern Canada won. 3-0 was the score in Montreal as the Canadiens took down the Canucks. Next up for Vancouver will be a trip to Ottawa to take on the Senators.

Congratulations to the eventual winner of PIT at ANA.

Three games on tonight. There will be the Montreal Canadiens at the Columbus Blue Jackets. It will be Gordie Howe Night at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. This game is to be televised on NHL Network tonight as the Detroit Red Wings host the Winnipeg Jets. The only all-American match tonight is the Arizona Coyotes at the Anaheim Ducks. No matter what games you want to check out tonight or this weekend, enjoy tonight's action and this weekend's action.

Of course, good luck to all of your team(s).

Somebody upset the heck out of Columbus. The Canadiens went to Columbus, OH; and they got handed a 10-0 defeat. Yikes! Columbus put four-spots in the 1st and 2nd Periods. Slap on two more and completely overrate Montreal. Dang. That was ugly. Montreal going down in flames tonight in their trip to the Buckeye State.

It may be MoTown, but MoTown was singing the blues as the Red Wings lost 5-3 at home to Winnipeg. So the Red Wings are stuck on six wins and have now lost three straight. I didn't see the later stages of the 3rd Period, but the Red Wings can't seem to win or maintain leads.

Congratulations to the eventual winner of ARI at ANA.

From Saturday's games, it's great Montreal bounced back after being whacked at Colombus on Friday. They won 5-4 at home against the Philadelphia Flyers. Columbus unfortunately failed in Overtime when they played at St. Louis. The Blues won 2-1 over the Blue Jackets as Overtime was needed in this match. You can't win if you don't score. That was the unfortunate fate of the Minnesota Wild at the Colorado Avalanche. The Avs won 1-0.

Congratulations to all other winners from Saturday.

Some sad news to report... former Colorado Avalanche player Marek Svatos has died at the age of 34. It isn't known how he died, but I surely offer my condolences to the Colorado Avalanche as well as all whom have known and loved Marek Svatos.

On a lighter note, six games are on for this Sunday. Those matches:

* EDM Oilers at DET Red Wings
* COL Avalanche at STL Blues
* NJ Devils at CAR Hurricanes
* DAL Stars at CHI Blackhawks
* WPG Jets at NYR Rangers (to be shown on Yahoo! Sports)
* CGY Flames at ANA Ducks

So you all go enjoy some NHL hockey today and tonight. Hope your favorite team(s) win.

Just now on "NHL Now" on the NHL Network, I found out that announcements regarding the Las Vegas NHL team will be made on November 22nd. A tweet I saw on Twitter was that the NHL team name will be revealed in this meeting. Possible names include the Desert Knights, Silver Knights, or Golden Knights. Team name and team logo to be determined on Nov. 22.

Three game were on Monday. Let's see who all won.

* Boston has floundered at home so far this season. Not so tonight. Just ask the visiting Buffalo Sabres getting blanked 4-0 tonight in Boston.

* Sunshine State showdown. This time, in Sunrise, Florida. Panthers ain't never scared of no Lightning. Omnis' Florida Panthers did good- a 3-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

* Two freefalling teams met in Brooklyn. It still seems sad to have a New York City team called the Islanders when they no longer play on Long Island, but that's the way of the world. Anyhow, something had to give in this one. Vancouver traveled thousands of miles to end up getting doubled up 4-2 tonight.

Congratulations to all winners from tonight's games.

Regardless of whomever becomes President of the United States, I think in regards to the LGBT community, how much more evolution and process will be made in regards to more rights and such for the LGBT community? Could we have better legislation and such and more rights for such people? I do not involve myself in political matters. However, this is an interesting story to follow as we elect a new President of the United States and the link to LGBT matters.

According to something I read on Yahoo! Sports, the new arena for the Detroit Red Wings will now cost about $733M USD. It will be called Little Caesars Arena. I think a lot of people would probably it be called Gordie Howe Arena or so. But of course, you got corporate money involved. You can read more about it here: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/detroit-red-wings-arena-cost-jumps-105m-733m-172621080--nhl.html

Detroit is among many teams playing tonight in this ten-game night. The Red Wings are on the skids as they will be at the Philadelphia Flyers. Both Detroit and Philadelphia have the same record: 6-6-1. Among other games... Original Six action tonight in Canada as the Boston Bruins will be at the Montreal Canadiens in this classic rivalry. The other Canadian Original Six team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, will host the Los Angeles Kings. LA will be on a five-game road trip starting tonight in beautiful Toronto. The Winnipeg Jets will host Sanji Himura's Dallas Stars. It's Election Day, and the Washington Capitals are at home ready to host the San José Sharks. The game Yahoo! Sports will show the Edmonton Oilers at the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Whatever game(s) you will follow, enjoy some NHL hockey tonight.

Recently wrapped up...

Winning feels good, doesn't it, Detroit? The Red Wings picked up a win at their House of Horrors known as Philadelphia. 3-2 win in a Shootout. This is the Red Wings' first win at Philadelphia since January 25, 1997. Hockeytown is off the losing skids at least temporarily.

So you feel bummed over whom was elected President of the United States? Or maybe you want some therapy after all the election madness? You know what? The NHL has your therapy tonight. Wednesday Night Rivalry can cure anything! Or... almost anything. Maybe these three games will help you feel better if you're down:

* ANA Ducks at COL Blue Jackets
* OTT Senators at BUF Sabres
* CHI Blackhawks at STL Blues (NBCSN Wednesday Night Rivalry)

That Blackhawks/Blues game could be a good one. Good old Midwestern hockey. Enjoy this Wednesday night of action.

And so I don't forget, congratulations to the winners from last night's other games.

Did any of you see that Blackhawks at Blues game tonight? That was crazy! This one couldn't be settled in sixty minutes, so Overtime was needed. It was the Chicago Blackhawks that downed the St. Louis Blues 2-1. All Chicago needed was 28 seconds of Overtime to settle this one, I'm told.

Congratulations to the winners of the other games from tonight.

There is still a lot of season left, but in case you're interested, here is the Wild Card race heading into tonight's games:

--- Eastern Wild Card (as of NOV 10 2016) ---
* New Jersey (6-6-3, 15 pts.)
* Detroit (7-6-1, 15 pts.)

--- Western Wild Card (as of NOV 10 2016) ---
* Los Angeles (7-6-0, 14 pts.)
* Winnipeg (6-7-1, 13 pts.)

The two best teams from each Conference not leading any Division can win the Wild Card. But again- there is still plenty of season left and plenty of time to make playoff runs. Who knows? Some of the teams you see here may even lead their respective Divisions and maybe even win their division.

This Thursday night features 10 games. If you're watching on Yahoo! Sports, they'll be showing the San José Sharks at the Florida Panthers. There are other matches tonight like the Minnesota Wild at the Pittsburgh Penguins and the St. Louis Blues at the Nashville Predators. Enjoy this Thursday night of hockey, folks.

The Wild really need to get this penalty thing sorted out. They are giving away far too many power plays for things that shouldn't happen.:indiff:

Edit: And there's another one. :rolleyes:

They snapped their 2-game loosing streak and scored a nice open-net goal. It seems like they have figured out their East coast issues as well.

The penalties still worry me though.

The Sedins might not be as quick as they used to be, but every couple games they still pull of something insane like this. I'll be sad to see them retire in a few years.

Too bad apart from Brock Boeser the Canucks don't have any prospects in the pipeline that look like they'll be legit top line forwards. It's gonna be a tough 5 years or so.
