NISM0's 240 Thread: Still Around

I know that retro rims are the fad now but I'm not liking those at all.
I also don't like dark wheels on light colored cars.
Sorry.

The car has a black greenhouse. The black wheels will match it nicely.

and im pretty sure they can help you out with what sizes are best to use

Ah, 17's-18's seem to be the dominate force there. Well that does help, it appears to me that I'll have to start looking at those now. My dad got his wheel so easy so it gave me a bad impression. I guess that's the good part about a Focus and off brand Tire Rack wheels.

So, how do Rotas sound? I know they have a rep, from what I've heard, but the do have the Work Meister replicas. They're 17x8.5 with 25mm offset. For now they should work, they're cheap and can just get the job done.

Or another Rota set, 17x9/9.5 with 12mm offset. They come in white, and the others are gold, which I'm not a fan of. The white ones are the Grid, and the gold ones are D2s.

Don't cheap out and get Rotas, please. Just keep what you have on and continue to save money until you find something that you will want to stick with for a while.

I'd run old school 15/16s before I ran Rotas. Not to mention they aren't even that cheap anymore. MB's and XXR wheels are cheaper, come in good sizes, and aren't known to crack when mounting a tire on them.

They also aren't blatant copies of other wheels.

Perfect Balance

+1. It's crap that they can do that. Mind you I don't think Work etc are too worked about it, at the end of the day it's an inferior product and people who want the proper look and quality will go with the people who originally designed the wheel...

Yea, I don't know what happened last night. My dad got new tires and I was in the mood and wasn't thinking. About two hours after I posted that, it hit me. So no worries, just a bad lapse in judgment.

No worries, it's crossed all our minds at some point.

Also, I'll repeat: Enkei is now making new 92s and J-speeds!

I feeling the 92s still. They've always been in the back of my mind and when I first go the 240 I wanted them. I'm thinkin' I'm going to go with them until I can afford other wheels, if I don't get attached to the 92s.

15x8 -30, 195/50 front 195/60 rear:

I say stick with 195/50 or 195/55 all around.

What about this:

Enkei 92s, Grey
Front: 15x7 +38
Rear: 15x8 +25

I want white ones, but they don't make those :grumpy:.

15x8 +25 front and rear. Plus 25mm spacers = decent fitment.

240s have a crapload of space under the fenders. Don't waste it on 15x7s.

For reference, these are 16x8 +0 Sportmax 002

Decent fitment, but not so much that you need to modify anything past beating the lips of your fenders in.

15x8 +25 will 25mm more in than these wheels, and the 15x7 even more sunk/will look stock.

Alright, so I'm set on the Enkei 92s, 15x8 +25. Tire wise, I see a some sites are saying 225-235 are best for 8' wheels. Again, I'm a little better with tires, but I'm going off what I see, and the 225-235 are the most common showing up for 8'.

Honestly, I'd run 215/50/15s myself, if you can get them. Probably cheaper than your other choices and will still look square on the wheel. 235s will look like an autocross car, with big bubbly tires, not to mention it's not easy finding 225s and 235 a decent price and tire for 15s.

Anything I can find that's semi slick. Toyo seemes to be coming up a lot, It's just the sizes that I'm still figuring out.

You'll be ponying up for R-comps no matter the size. Keep in mind that summer tires typically run wider than all seasons per size, and the effect is usually more pronounced the further up the performance ladder you go.

205/55 or 215/50 (blegh) are my size opinions. I'll look them up after work.

Toyo RA-1s or Nitto NT01s for R-comps. But I wouldn't ever run R-comps on the street. They're loud, they pick up everything on road throw it around, and they don't perform well when not warmed up.

So, I ordered Enkei 92s from a guy that Eric told me about. I'm going to wait until the wheels get here to decide on tires, and wait for my funds to build up too. They don't make them in white :grumpy:, so I have to paint them white myself, not the rims though, they be stayin' chrome.

Those are going to look awesome, hopefully I get a chance to see the car in person before Michigan weather turns awful.

I knew the wheels would look good, but for some reason, I wasn't expecting them to look this good. On the interwebs, they looked flat and dull, but in person....they're not :dopey:.

Joey, I can bring a wheel to AutoZone tomorrow, so you can see a part of the car .

Mah, lip :D.
