The car under the cover is most likely just a place holder. The car will be front engined.👍

..............I see. Hell, I'm still pumped.
Dunno how successful Nissan's gonna be with a front engine set up, but I'm sure it will be a big talking point leading up to the Le Mans itself. Good publicity stunt there, I'd imagine.

The car is indeed a placeholder, many sources said that it was a Ligier LMP2 chassis. Only a few fortunate ones (including Mr. @R1600Turbo of course) have seen the car's true form, we still have to wait to see what it truly looks like.

I remember reading an article waaay back when the R35 was about to hit the streets - its chief stylist was quoted as saying he designed the side windows in such a shape so when Nissan builds a silhouette race car, it can still be recognizable as a GT-R simply by taking a gander at the side window shape. This probably still holds true with the upcoming LMP1 - even if it might be long and swoopy, it'll still be recognizable as a GT-R...

Somebody has already used his imagination:

That's... not bad, actually. A bit strange looking, but not bad. Can defintely recognize where the R35 is on that car, and the livery is nice with the red and white (Japan's national colours, fit the car nicely).

I'll get excited when we have full details & confirmation.

Heck, as new/relevant content-starved GT6 is feeling lately, I'd gladly accept that Ligier LMP2 chassis with some concept-motor in it. Racecar is still a racecar.

Or the car under the cover is the car but Turbo is saying to ignore it to divert your attention away from it. Reverse psychology and all that...

The mystery deepens....

No, the car under the cover is definitely not it. Pointy nose gives it away.

I wonder what's the new "interesting" thing they are doing with the "powertrain" that will be "transferred into the new GTR" ?

Powertrain includes the engine, transmission, drive shafts, differentials, and the final drive (drive wheels). But sometimes "powertrain" is used to refer to simply the engine and transmission, including the other components only if they are integral to the transmission.

So any thoughts about what could that be ?

Two engines front and back ? ... With each powering the wheels under it (like the Jeep 'Hurricane Concept 2005') ?

Or an electric engine for the front when needed, including the KERS. But the KERS would go to all wheels ?

Cockpit is too high, but decent. If it runs no rear wing, the endplates will be shaped different. Theyll have to run the cockpit near the same area as the mid engine layout to fit the 3000 square mm mandatory fin.

According to Mulsanne Corner, the front wheels will be powered by the combustion engine and the rear by the hybrid/electric system.
