Nissan Silvia Fan Club

I want the Lip, theres a chick at school with a Kouki and she said shed sell me hers, but she hasent given a price yet. Whats a good price for that lip?(hers is pretty scuffed up too)

kouki what? if it's an S14, the lip won't fit your car. what you need is the lip from a zenki S13, that's where i got mine. i've seen them going for around 100 bucks, they're pretty rare. offer the girl like 50 bucks and see what she says, chances are she doesnt know how much it's worth so you can probably hustle her for it.

and all i'm selling is the bracket for the zenki, it really has no function unless you're putting the lip on a zenki S13.

im not sure, i've never tried it. ask her if you can borrow it, then just line it up without screwing it on, and see if it fits. you can always trim off a few inches of the lip on the sides....but it might come out looking horribly =[

best bet would be to find a lip from a zenki S13, and put that on yours. that's what i did, and i just powerdrilled the sides into the bumper to attach it.

the front is a little bit too low for driving in CA, there's waaaay too many dips...but oh well, the price we pay =]

yeah, i tapped a low curb with the corner of the lip there as you can see.....

it is now ziptied =\

redrilling and screwing it in every time was annoying me =\

you will want one if you get a SR20DET conversion (if thats what your planning)

Well, after 17 pages, I've finally returned to this thread, as my Silvia purchase seems imminent.

However, there's a shortage of Manual S14s, and even rarer are low mileage S14s. So I'm thinking of getting an S14 front clip and swapping the engine and tranny.

However, there is a issue when it comes to getting the 14 smogged. I see that many of the people in here are from California, how have you managed to get the car to pass the smog test?

Check some other Nissan forums and do a search. This really isn't the best place to ask. I know that if you get a 96-98 and swap in an SR, you're going to have OBDII issues when you try to have it inspected or smogged. A 95 is your best bet if you want an S14 with an SR. Anyway, you might want to head over to one of these sites and ask your question there:
240sxforums.com
zilvia.net
240sx.org
etc.

I've talked to the guys on other forums as well. I'm just asking at different places to find out how different people have handled it.

I already know the route a lot of people take (let's just say it involves a "sympathetic" smog shop). Just wanted to see if you guys had any other ideas.

oh yeah, as soon as someone says S14 it think 200sx

Yeah, there is quite a difference......... SR20DET - KA24DE.......

Despite what a lot of people say though, the KA24DE has huge potential if you throw a turbo on there............... (making it KA24DET). I have a friend who has a 240sx S14, and he just put a big turbo, FMIC, etc.........., and now he's pushin' around 600hp, and it's light as hell................. God Damn that's a nice car!!!!!!!! I will definately get an SR20DET in my Silvia (when I get it, after I sell my current car), but I will toy with the KA (header, full exhaust, Intake, etc........ until I have the cash for the engine swap...... I can hardly wait........

;)

The problem with the KA24DE is that most of them already have a hundred thousand miles or more. So it doesn't make a lot of sense to mod such an old engine.

That's true, but you can get rebuilt, KA's that are like brand new, for much cheaper than an SR20DET (even though, red top SR20's are quite cheap nowadays). However, I will most likely throw an SR20DET in my Silvia, ASAP........

all my friends with SR20's go up to LA to get smogged. there's no way you can legally smog an SR20, so you better find a hookup soon.

i'll have an S13 silvia front by this summer, and enough money for an SR by august, so i have plenty of time to look for a bumper that is ideal for an FMIC. just gotta get working harder and more hours..

ive just been looking at a couple damaged s13's today that a crash repair mate is thinking about getting. one s13 has front damage that we are thinking of getting a front cut and a RB20DET then convert it (it currently has a CA18DE:rolleyes: ), but it will take alot of work, because the firewall is also pushed in abit. its only going for $1500AUS

hmm not sure what to do yet?

no you dont sound like an idiot, if you dont ask you'll never know
