You own what I own, a 240sx. Regardless of what you do to an American S13/S14 chassis vehicle, it will still be what your title/insurance says.

Putting a SVT motor in a V6 rustang doesnt make it a Cobra. Putting decals on a G20 doesnt make it a Primera. Same applies to a 240sx.

yup...but this argument goes on and on. No matter how clear you are...people still want to argue. I don't care if people put badges...maybe people just find that it looks better. But saying your car is a true silvia..thats a completely different story.

if you own a 240sx, 180sx or 200sx they are still are S13, S14 or S15's because it still says it on you vehicle identification plate (chassis code). if you choose to call you car that, its your own choise. as for the name 'silvia', only the japanese models are called that.

well i like to call it silvia because thats what the front end is and the end of it is, i dont care if you want to call it a 240, it will always be a silvia to me

based on your definition of what MAKES a silvia..the front and back end, then if an integra with r34 headlights, tailights, fenders, and bumpers be a skyline? I don't think so.

in australia we generaly call them all silvias because all S13's are imported (so they are silvias), most S14's and S15's are australian spec but there are still alot of imported S14's and S15's (silvias) so we call them all silvias and sometimes 200sx. and even aussie spec S15 (200sx) still has silvia writen on the headlights clearly

Actually the only reason why in australia there called 200sx and not silvia is because nissan australia didnt want to sell a performance car with what they call a chicks name.

Techincially the body shape is a silvia like viper said ppl usually go by the chassis code cause its easier

thanks Vman.

lol.

one more question about silvias.

are there any differences between the onevia and s13 besides the front clip?

i want to get as much edjuhmuhkayshun as possible. im really interested in owning a silvia at some point. thanks.

It depends whether your talking about the USDM One-Via, or the JDM One-Via. The USDM One-Via (the only S13 in the US), has a KA24DE engine, where as the JDM model, has either a CA18DET, or an SR20DET, if I'm not mistaken............ I am starting to really like the One-Via, and I wouldn't mind seeing more Type X (kouki) conversions, to the front clip.......

;)

oh, yeah i know about the engines.

just was wondering about chasis and suspension, etc.

its the same right?

Uhhhh sorta right. 240sx's in the US came as either coupe or hatch as far as S13's go (89-94). Coupes (what I own) are what you are calling a "one-via", although I'd be a poser to call my car one (as it is neither a 180sx, silvia, or a mixture of both, its a 240sx coupe). Hatchbacks look like 180sx's. 89-90 they came with the KA24E motor (sohc). 91-94 they came with the KA24DE (94 was an only convertable year).

fine im not a poser though
i'll call it a 240
geese you are all posers i dont think you have freinds with JDM Cars? Or a 3 Freinds With a sil80? hmm hmm? lets see how many?

I'm not really sure what you think I got wrong? In the US we have the 240SX coupe (S13), and the 240SX fastback (RPS13). However, I agree that they are in no way the same as their Japanese counterparts....

Holy crap, you're WAY off! S13 = a chassis code for silvia's, 200sx's, 240sx's and 180sx's. You said the "one-via" was the only S13 we got, which was wrong. Now you say a 240sx fastback is an RPS13? RPS13 means that it is a 3 door S13 with an SR20DET, which is extremely wrong when talking about a 240sx. The 3 door 240sx's the US got have the chassis codes of RHS13, RMS13, and KRMS13. The chassis code for the coupes are HS13 (which is what I have) and MS13 (there is a KMS13 but I've only heard of it existing in Canada).

I dunno... alot. I am in the USAF, and was stationed at Yokota for a couple years. Used cars are cheap as hell in japan, I owned a 180sx while I was there and was still able to maintain payments on my 240sx (S14 chassis) back in the states. Alot of my buddies have JDM Nissan cars (R32 and 33 GTS's, S14's, S13's, Cima's, Cedric's, etc).

Hi ^^ I'm here to join too!

My question given is I am looking between two different s13 1991 Silvia which are both a little different you see. Neither car is hatchback as Both are a coupe with sr20det. They do "appear" to be Japan imports to start. They got different body kits, the back clips look the same except different bumper/body kit, and there are different spoiler's on them. My conclusion is that I really don't know for sure if anything is the same with the backs or not.

Neither of these have a S15 front clip, that I can be sure of. But this is where I lack information:

One car has the pop up lights while the other car does not. I haven't found anywhere the significance in this difference pertaining to which type came with which model number. I would like to know what this all could possibly mean as it has been the single most confusing thing to me. Also is one type advantageous when it comes to turbo or intercooler?

thanks in advance =->

And to clear it up: the Silvia without the popup headlights has lights that look just like the ones as seen here http://www.uploadit.org/dadbdon/MVC-002F.JPG

This is just a second post to keep things separate since I updated my research. I know most people seem to know this already but please take into account what I've asked in my post and the following also.

The pop-up lights Silvia seems to be a coupe model converted to an Onevia. Was a Japanese Onevia (that being the coupe with the pop-up lamps) ever sold as RHD in Japan or is this only done as a front clip switch in Japan? And if it is a front clip switch does this mean it doesn't have the Japanese SR20DET engine that it came with originally or is it impossible to find that out?

Now the Silvia coupe with the fixed lamps, I'm thinking this may be an original Japanese model but I'd like to know what indicators there are to look at to find out if it is from Japan or not because I'd like to know exactly what I'm sitting in. I know that last part may sound uninformed but I'm asking it because I "am" uninformed. Basically what unmistakably identifies it as a Japanese make if I may ask, other than a rhd?

I'm asking those specifics for different reasons and to help minimize space and time spent with the replies. thanks in advance ~_~

and its not an s15 jus because it has a strawberry face kit. no matter what you do to a 240sx itll still be a 240sx. since when was it soo cool to be jdm? "Oh yeah man I have a Silvia"...the truth is...you dont...unless you got it imported. Anyway thats all i hafta say...im not in anyway calling you guys posers...i jus want to clarify why ppl always call their 240s "silvias" even tho they rnt... Theyre dif from their japanese counterparts...

oh yeah and about ricky's 240... its jus a regular 95 240 with an s15 sr20det and s15 strawberry face. It doesnt mean its an s15....
