ah, ya lost your airconditioning.

BTW do 240sx in the US come out with climate control (not that manual crap) option like silvias and 180sx's do??

pRaHjeC, out of interest.. what would it set you back to get a SR in the states?

i could get you an S13 front clip for 2000 bucks. and if you live in southern california, my friend will install it for about half the price of a shop. he'll do it for about 700 bucks (i think), shops do it for 1500 now i think.

here are some pictures we took yesterday at my friend's house, just had a little kick back with about half of our "team".

the ECU is on the passenger side near the back right. at least that's where mine is...

here's an S13 me and my friends have been working on for the past week or so. the original SR had a blown cylinder, so we waited for another SR to come in, and then swapped it in less than 8 hours.

1st picture is my friend geoff in the empty engine bay of the S13 at 1pm today.
2nd picture is the whole car from the driver's side
3rd picture is of the engine finally in the car and running at 8:30 tonight.

Holy **** you bought that car? I saw that on Autotrader.com a couple of weeks ago.

what? no i didnt buy it, none of my friends bought it either. a marine on the base near san diego bought it and asked my friend and us to fix the SR, so we did.

pRaHjeC, im actually from Australia so that might be a problem with your previous idea.. lol

I will be getting a front cut around november (70% chance red top / 30% black top - depending on how hard I save) should set me back $2500-3500ish.. and thats in AUD! so you guys arent doing so bad price wise!

go with the redtop, better bang for your buck. blacktops are just wastes of money unless it comes from an S14...that's my opinion at least =]

If its a Japanese S15 blacktop, the standard turbo is quite good and can produce quite abit with alot of work.

Wanted to get a late model engine if possible.. and I plan to use the T28 BB from the JDM S15.

but whatever I end up with I would just be happy to have an SR20DET in.

australian silvias dont come with SR20's?

my friend is running an S15 T28, and some other small assorted items, and is currently running 320hp to the wheels. it's a VERY fast car and he spent minimal amounts of money on it.

damnnnnn man, your car is hella nice. i'm not feelin the S15 "S" emblem on the front though =[

but man, you get your cars like that stock (with the silvia front), we have to pay 600 bucks + to get the front panels to convert our cars...and then it still has a ****ty non turbo truck motor =[

well...at least we have 2.4 liters? =]

What fronts do you get in the US?

The Coupes we get in the states, are called One-Via's (the opposite of Sil-Eighty).... The front nose is taken from the 180SX, so it has the body of the S13 Coupe, and the nose of a 180SX Hatch....

The KA24DE isn't a bad engine.... With minor mods they can be pretty fast.... However, an SR20DET will definitely be going in mine, after I play around with the KA24DE for a while, and build up the funds.....

;)

I know what a Sil-Eighty and One-Vias are (So does just about everyone that like silvias) But thats weird, wonder why they did that (I know why they originally done it but I mean why in the US)

well I wrote a report on the history of the silvia and discovered that the Silvia was actually going to be brought to the states, but something changed that (dont know what did) and well we got the 240SX basically a 180SX but isntead of the CA18 giving the 18 in 180, we got the KA24 giving it the 24 in 240 but the 240 was basically built using left over parts, hence the engine and drivetrain. also the front springs, they figured take 2 cars put them together then you have 3 toyota did the same with some of their vehicles as well.

hope that answered some questions. :)

i'm fairly sure the reason they didn't bring silvia's and 180sx's to the US is because of the smog regulations and all that bull****. japan doesnt have smog regulation, and they seem to be doing just fine...except that they have to get a new engine every 30k miles or something like that...or maybe it's 60k...i forget. but yeah, the US should be more lenient, and engine swaps should be legal. muscle cars and SUV's put out way more smog than we ever will, yet they get to run rampant =\
