hi hi! names mikey...im from australia and found this forum to see how the silvia-modifying world is in the US. loving the cars i seen already!!

Alright so my car has been drinking coolant WAY too fast and I just found out the top of my radiator is cracked. I'm thinking about getting a Koyo radiator now, and then maybe a Greddy front mount...hmm then there's that BOV, turbo manifold, cat, exhaust...looks as if I'll be busy for the next couple of months!

I should have a nice bunch of pictures for you guys on sat afternoon/night - our silvia club is holding a huge bbq cruise south of Sydney, we are expecting 60+ silvia's (s12/s13/180/s14/s15)

Should have mentioned this a while ago. My car's been through a lot in the past month or so.

It all started with a cruise down a canyon, about a month ago. I rounded a corner at 60 or so, and was faced with an impassable rock slide. The result of that was a bent core support, a smashed front bumper, and a pair of blown airbags.

A week or so after, my muffler broke off. Last I saw, it was in my trunk, and my car sounded insane. (essentially a 3" straight pipe, after all...)

The next week, I started hearing a clicking noise, almost a knocking. We checked the oil, and there was none in the car. Refilled it, and no luck. We took the motor to the shop, had it checked out, and it was toast.

So my car is currently down at Cartune, having a new motor put in. Nothing fancy, unfortunately, just a new(er) KA. It's a nice motor, at least. Came from a Kouki S14, less than 100k on it, and 175PSI all across. So, essentially, a new motor.

At the same time, I'm having my beat up old brakes replaced with a set of 300ZX turbo calipers, with Brembo rotors. Additionally, a few adjustable suspension pieces are going on the car, more to allow me to align the car so as to stop ruining tires than anything.

I've also picked up a few other items recently. One was a Schroth Profi III-FE ASM harness, replacing the crummy 2" Sparco I had in the car. The Schroth cost me $269, but it's well worth the price. This thing is top of the line. The only thing it lacks is an anti-sub belt, which I have no use for, due to my seat's design, but one can easily be added, as the camlock has a connection point for one.

I also picked up a Sparco 345 steering wheel with a Momo hub. (Couldn't get a Sparco one)

Also now in my inventory, although I won't really have it until christmas, is a Bell SR-Pro helmet.

I've made a large change in my driving philosophy. Rather than the Touge and drift orientation I'd been going for previously, I've decided that real motorsports are the place to be. So, once my car's back, I'll be attending regular autocross and track road racing events.

With this in mind, I've got a few near-future plans.

First of all, my smashed bumper needs replacement. I'm currently looking into bodykits, hoping to find something that will actually be functional. At the same time, it'll be time for new paint. I'm considering just getting a coat of Championship White, and working the car into a scheme inspired by the IMSA cars Datsun and Nissan raced in years past using Vinyl.

Next will be a second set of wheels and tires, so I can go the track, run all day, and still have rubber to go home on.

After that will come a rollcage, or at least a bar. I'm thinking I don't need any more than a four-point, as the speeds will be relatively low, and as a full cage can actually be dangerous (and inconvenient) in street driving.

Wow, looks like an awesome gathering. We never get to park our cars on the grass over here!

I see a couple 15s, too, not a lot of those at our meets...

One thing I don't see is any coupes with pop-ups. Are "one-vias" as popular down there as they've gotten in Japan?

We have almost no convertible silvias in Australia, very rare. Onevias are fairly popular I know a couple people with some but Sileighty's are more popular.

anybody going to D1GP or JGTC this coming weekend?

Don't remind me...

I live 2 states up from you guys... There's no way I can go see such things...

It saddens me so...

;)

man...the schedule was so ****ed up...

on the website, it said D1 was starting at 10 30 in the morning. so me and a couple of friends wake up early to roll up there around 6 30 so we won't have to wait in too big a line. first disappointment. there was no line. we could have got up alot later and still made it there in time. see, this time the event was at california speedway, which is a MUCH larger track than the track they were using before: irwindale. usually at irwindale we show up about 3 hours early, and STILL have to wait in a big ass line to get our tickets. so we were anticipating another long wait, but there was none. anyways... so D1 was supposed to start at 10 30 according to the online schedule. second disappointment. D1 wasn't even going to start until 5 PM!!! we ended up getting there around 8, so we would have had to wait for like 9 hours to see D1. but LUCKILY they had a couple of sprint races going on with the JGTC cars every once in a while, and that **** was very fun to watch. just getting to see the JGTC cars justified paying 35 dollars a ticket. we ended up leaving around 2 because there was just no point in staying out in the scorching sun that long. oh well, guess i'll just buy the DVD... haha...

 I live in FL so.. thats even worse

I'm in Florida too...! I got a 93' S13 hatch... (3rd 240sx owned)

are you in South Fla? If so, check out SFLDrifters.com (I'm AlchemistXL there)

should go over to Hialeah Speedway on Feb. 5th, there's going to be a drift event.. you can go route for me haha

did anybody get to go to the shine street meet in LA on this past saturday? i went up there with about 15 other cars, it was fun. there were about MAYBE 150 cars there total throughout the whole day, it was alot of fun and i met alot of interesting people.

Alright it's nearing the time of a new exhaust system and I am going to go with the Blitz NurSpec. However, I also need to replace my downpipe because it is cracked. I'm thinking about running the XS cat delete downpipe because I will be running straight pipes until smog time. My question is, will the cat back exhaust fit with the cat delete downpipe without any problems?

Also, I've been looking for a non-viscous LSD for quite a while, but havn't been able to find a good cheap unit. If any of ya'll could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Im just going to throw this out there, if you like it you can answer it, if not just send it right back....hehe,

My good buddy has a 91' 240sx with an SR20DET. Mods include intake, ecu, and a full exhaust system(downpipe, and a FULL 3" pipe out the back. NO CATS, or restriction of any kind.) Car's a 5 speed, boost peaks at about 9 psi. My question is what do you think the car would run in el quarter mile. any input would be appreciated.

My friend has a 1992 180sx SR20DET manual, full 3inch exhaust (no cat etc), pod intake and running about 0.8-0.9 bar (around 12psi) and he pulled a 13.7@101 mph.

So with the setup your friend has he should get anywhere from mid to late 13 second pass.

Which SR20DET has he got btw?

Viper, its a Redtop.

Dorifto im not very keen on the best exhausts for 240s/SR20 cars....my friends is not any brand" its just a custom 3" setup, heck i don't even know what type of downpipe its got, i just know hes got one. I don't know if your new exhaust would fit that DP, but hey check around and maybe call the company and ask them if you need to...its their job to know what is compatible or not so they *should know. :) good luck!

New stuff on my car!

Nismo 2-way LSD!
Exedy Street Stage 1 Clutch!

Maybe pics later. They're sorta inside the car and all, but we took pics of the install.

I have the XS cat delete downpipe and Blitz Nurspec exhaust on my car as well as a custom Greddy type RS BOV kit from phase2motortrend. In the mail is a very very rare Nismo 260 kmh gauge cluster! This summer when I am working a lot more I'll put on a Nismo street LSD and maybe a FMIC.

damn... i haven't posted here in like 6 months.... but new updates!

i now have apollo coilovers... i love them... 12/10 spring rates, stiff as HELL and i love it....

i also got advan AVS wheels, but i only have 2 of them on my car because i can't afford tires for 9 inch wide wheels right now... and STILL no paint... but it's okay.

and also....

S13 Blacktop
TODA built head
TODA cams
nissan forged internals
harmonic balanced crank
new seals and bearings
rehoned and resleeved block
pulsar GTi-R pistons
rebuilt transmission with taller 3rd 4th and 5th gears
ogura racing twin plate clutch with titanium flywheel built in
KAAZ 2way LSD
S15 T28 ball bearing turbo
Sard R2D2 Type 4 BOV
HKS adjustable wastegate
greddy oilpan
skyline radiator
Blitz 3" downpipe
3" Testpipe
RS*R ExMag GTII 3" Exhaust
Stock charge piping and sidemount intercooler

yeah i left the stock sidemount intercooler with the stock piping... and even the stock heat shield over the manifold. i left that stuff cuz it makes it look stock. i spent so much money... but damn, it's FAST... on 10psi its running around 270hp to the wheels, but it might be higher or lower because i haven't dynoed it yet. but damn, i love it...

i've beaten some pretty fast cars with it. i take WRX STi's like nothing, evo VII's like nothing, c5 corvette's i can beat, M3's i can beat, SVT cobras i can beat.... it's fun beating expensive cars with a janky looking 3000 dollar car like mine ;]
