I just finished some interior paint mods and a smoke job... Check it out...

Here's an example of the old yellow painted interior accesories...

Here are some examples of the interior parts after I painted them black/alluminum... (Every item pictured used to be bright yellow)

All in all, I think everything turned out great... Next I am going to half smoke the taillights (smoke the upper part of the taillights (amber/clear part))...

;)

pretty cool. how come you didn't just get the JDM half and halfs? i used to have those when i had popups, and i liked em a bunch. that's cool though man, haven't seen anybody around here with those.

Your car is a ugly piece of crap. J/k
:) nothing tops my car in that category at the moment

No sir, mine is lord ugly. I'm sure its just going to get worse sitting with a car cover on it for 2 years. Boy oh boy am I going to have to do alot of work when I get back.

I probably will get the JDM half and halfs... Eventually... However, this smoke job looks really mean... and for $8 it was definitely worth it...

Could be many things causing the idle problem

heres some suggestions, im not sure what car/ engine combo you have, So I cant be specific.

Could be a faulty or dirty idle control valve? (although it must work to some degree to keep the idle high on cold starts)
Could be incorrect timing?
the idle speed maybe to low, just up the idle alittle?
On Skylines the fuel pump works low on idle and the switches high when you put your foot down, this sometimes cause idle problems when you fuel pump is not working good.

there are many more problems it could be.

Have you tried upping the idle on the idle control valve, there is a little screw. (only do it when its warm)

*edit* I never had stalling probs with SR20's so I never looked in to it, It would be better if you checked silvia forums that have detailed explainations of other peoples similar probs.

Heres one http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=58518&hl=stalling

too bad the idle control valve isnt so easy to get to like on a Skyline.

No probs,

its most likely just dirty. You can pull it off and clean it with carb cleaner.

Yep...

I had that same problem with my Jetta... I used carb cleaner to clean the ICV, and it solved the problem...

I finished smoking my taillights (well, HALF smoking actually)... Here's a little step by step...

First I masked off everything but the amber and clear section of the taillights, and sprayed them with "Nite Shades" by VHT:

Then I unmasked the red portion and sprayed a high gloss clear coat over the whole taillight:

Then I unmasked everything, and removed the "SE" from the right rear... Shizzam!!!, a clean new look:

The clear coat spattered a bit (stupid faulty spray can), but after a little wet sanding, it's less noticeable, and most people will never know it's there... All in all, I think it turned out really good...

Alright I have another question about my car. When I am in the upper regions of the RPM range(5-7000), I hear this odd, sort of high pitched squeal. I know it's coming from my turbocharger, but I do not know what it is.

is it along the lines of a whine like from a jet engine ? if so that's pretty much how your turbo should sound ... unless you are having abnormal behavior from your turbocharger.

To be honest with you, I think it sounds like metal on metal, which is NOT good. It's really hard to describe the noise, but if I could it would be like when a train brakes, and there's that squeal.

Sounds like your turbos not loving it, not alot you can do exept replace/rebuild it.

S15 (JDM) is a great turbo, good power to be made there, why would that kill your other plans? money?

sound's like your bearings are bad ... check the turbo for shaftplay . .. if you are looking for a inexpensive fix i'd suggest getting a t25 rebuild kit and doing it yourself .. shouldnt be too difficult ... imho it would be more worth while to upgrade to a s15 t28 dual ball bearing turbo

What oil weight do you use? Whats your oil pressure like? Check your lines. You also may have a coked turbo...

FINALLY after years of waiting... my redtop has arrived from the land of the rising sun, and Ive just got back from paying for it etc, so its all mine!

Thankyou...

Yeah, the car is "Cranberry Red"... It's a different shade than what's on Hatches and 89-90 Coupes... The color is growing on me... I definitely like it better than the more maroon shade...

Nice!...

Everyday I dream of the day my engine will resemble the picture you have posted...

What are your plans for the SR?... Do you have a boost controller, turbo timer, or any other upgrades?...

;)

Silviadrifter,

mods purchased pre-conversion:

3" s/s GP Sports exhaust system
3.5" high flow cat
3" x-force front pipe
3" hks dump pipe
Custom stainless coolant tank
Walbro 255l/h fuel pump
GReddy Oil Filter Moval Kit
Apexi ECV / RSM / EL Boost Gauge
Aftermarket sump
Grounding kit
Blitz DD bov
HKS Panel filter
Motul engine oil :)

If all goes well I might have videos of the car at a dyno night which is in a f/night, but for now id just be happy to have the engine in the car and running.

btw it set me back quite a bit, they are not an easy engine to obtain these days, very popular and hard to find in excellent condition.. so I had to play the waiting game but it looks like it has paid off.

👍
