As this also mentions GT Mobile will be out after GT5 can we now please get GT1 and GT2 on the PS Store? I would love to get a bit of GT on the go.

Not surprising at all. Remember how much GT4 got bumped from the original release date? What was it a year and a half?? I know it was around 15-16 months from the original release date. Then after all that waiting the game STILL did not have online. Thats when I started to dislike the GT series. I will give them another chance when I get a PS3 but I knew it would be a long time fore GT5 came out.

Oh snap... i really understand they want it perfect, but 2010!? allready GT5P is collecting dust, sure they will update it every now and then, but if they say 2010 its either around march 2010, or the end of the year 2010, if not later (again).

Deep down we all knew this was coming, just look at the updates they've been doing with Prologue, new features are now going to become available (i.e. music...maybe one day). But not only that if you look at GT5:P is really is a rough draft, especially when it comes to online play and they want it to be perfect, they don't want to just throw out there like Forza and say alright punters have fun! The amount of cars we're expecting is going to take a long time get in there properly. The thing is with all their energy focused on this game the past several months its really not much of a surprise, I'm not saying Sony/PD is doing a bad thing or a good thing, lets just see how this turns out. I'm sure they've got something in mind.

The only source available for this news is Joystick ,which was banned from Gaf and I don't think it was innocent, plus I don't think Yamauchi would have allowed them an interview just to talk about the report ,where's the original interview ?

2010 would be killing long ... but as said above, more sources. Still think it will hit store in 2009 as they have the possibilty to add content (for free) latter if needed.

2010 it is then 👍 I'll just race on my pc more until then haha. I want perfection out of the next GT game and have no problem waiting to 2011 if needed. Hopefully it will last more than 2 months like GT4 did (with a full time job too :))

Seems they bit off a little more than they could chew to bend backwards for us demanding GT fans.
In car view of every car, realistic damage. These to things alone add many many hours of development and modeling time.

All I know is GT5 will be epic in so many ways.

In a way im glad that its not going to be here too soon....means we get more prologue updates for what we have already paid for! Plus I want them to get the full thing right... they can take as much time as they want (within reason!) because at least this time we get drip fed new stuff via Prologue...

But we can still get the Japan version of the full game right? If you're waiting for the US version in 2010, that's cool, but the theme song of Gran Turismo will be omitted again in that version if you don't like Moon Over The Castle. I'm getting the Japan version instead.

Im afraid to say (IF THIS IS TRUE) that he was not talking about a US or EU release.. he just means the release wherever it gets released first (japan offcourse).

So it might even be 2011 for europe and the US if they release it around christmas time in japan.

These additional cars, tracks, and features (other than the PPV GTTV) better be free. I paid $40 for less than a quarter of what the $60 GT5 will be.

Thankfully, they probably will be free, and be a part of the Fall update. :)

To fully satifsfy the majority of Prologue owners, the fall update should include a minimum of 10 new vehicles, at least 2 new tracks (Nurburgring + Top Gear test track), more robust online functionality (private rooms, ability to view and save replays of online races), Photo Mode, damage, variable weather including day/night cycle, all-around graphical enhancements, and maybe even an extra tier or two of offline races to complete.

Maybe that's asking for slightly too much, but I expect no less than half of that stuff.

And that would be the first and the last Gran Turismo game to be on the PS3. According to an IGN article, Kazunori will have plans for GT5 around 2009 or might be 2010, but now he and his crew are focusing on GT5 Prologue first. Yep, pretty much what you said is true.

the only things i would love to see in future updates is 1) Private rooms 2) The nurburgring 3) The ability to race all car classes in expert mode online...

hopefully my vision will come to fruition so let's see....

E3 2008: Gran Turismo Q&A
We sit down with the creator and learn about the future of gaming's premiere racing franchise.
by Chris Roper

July 17, 2008 - At this year's E3, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Kazunori Yamauchi, the founder of Polyphony Digital and creative mastermind behind the studio's Gran Turismo franchise. The focus of the show for Polyphony was the full rollout of GT TV, the "television" channel built into Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Besides finding out about this portion of the game, I was also able to find out the status of the damage patch for Prologue as well as the current progress of Gran Turismo 5.

IGN: So to start off, can you give us an overview of GT TV?

Kazunori Yamauchi: GT TV actually came from a personal wish of mine to have programs that you could watch anywhere, anytime, because when I go home from work, I turn on the TV and look for car programs on cable and satellite, and they're not always easy to find. So that's why I wanted to provide a service where you could have automotive and autosports programs 24 hours a day, anywhere, anytime. We're starting off with Japanese programs and the BBC's Top Gear, and that's where this all started.

IGN: I noticed in some of the shots from the trailer that you're personally featured in some of the spots. How much involvement did you have with the production of some of the specials?

Kazunori Yamauchi: One thing that I want to make clear is that Gran Turismo TV is not a video distribution service - that's not just what it is. We're producing our own programs to spread more information about cars and the automotive world.

So to answer your question, with Gran Turismo TV we're going to be gathering interesting automotive events and news from all over the world, and these are going to be put into our original programs. We have a staff of about 30 people at Polyphony Digital who are dedicated to creating programs for Gran Turismo TV, and I produce all of this, so you could say I'm 100% involved in all of these programs.

IGN: How much of the content is geared towards the hardcore fans versus the more casual racing fan?

Kazunori Yamauchi: For example, we have BBC's Top Gear, which is more of a casual show. It's for anyone from kids to adults. And then we have D1 Grand Prix and the Super GT which are more for core fans of motorsports and cars. There's no real setting of a ratio between the two, we just want to balance it out so that everyone has something to enjoy.

IGN: I'm an especially huge Ferrari fan, and I noticed that you're going to have a behind-the-scenes look at the production of Ferraris. Do you have a segment in there where you actually show off their test track?

Kazunori Yamauchi: We went into the Ferrari factory with high-definition cameras, which is the first time that's ever been done. And that's also true for the Fiorano Circuit, Ferrari's test course. It's the first time in history that anyone has ever brought a high-definition camera to take footage of the track.

IGN: Are there any plans to have this content transferrable to the PSP so that you can watch it on the go?

Kazunori Yamauchi: We definitely want to do that in the future.

IGN: Earlier this year, you mentioned that Polyphony was working on a patch for GT5 Prologue that would add damage modeling to the game later this year. Is that still happening?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Our plans haven't changed, and we're working on it. But this is Gran Turismo, so it might be a little bit late. [laughs all around]

IGN: Lastly, what's the status on the full Gran Turismo 5? Where are you at in production?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Of course after this next update, we're going to have another update later on in the year. There's no plans in the works for GT5 yet - that might be 2009, or it might be 2010... But we're totally focused on getting the updates through for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, and that's all we're focused on.

IGN: Thank you!

I don't feel so bad about GT5P, that's for sure.. hehe.

With that much production time, GT5 will probably be so far beyond Prologue that it'll be like a different product altogether.. and the separation of a couple of years makes that forty bucks well spent. Doesn't mean I don't want to see some improvement and DLC for Prologue. :)

2010 just seems so far away at the moment, although the updates for prologue will definitely help me pass the time, the ONLY things i want are private rooms and the Ring:)
anything else will just be a bonus:tup:

Kazunori Yamauchi: Our plans haven't changed, and we're working on it. But this is Gran Turismo, so it might be a little bit late. [laughs all around]

At least he doesn't fool himself about their development schedule.

If they had just skipped the Prologue **** it would be out much sooner I think.. And people would be more "wow!!!" if it was released without Prologue before it! I regret really bad at this moment that I bought GT5P..... :indiff:

EDIT: Since it has been 6 years between every Playstation console and GT5 is probably gonna be out 2011 in EU it will be pretty pointless to even get the game, because if they stick to the 6 year gap between consoles Playstation 3 is gonna feel pretty old and Playstation 4 will be on its way wich means PD has to start on GT6 and so on... they have to get rid of the Prologue thing in the future!!!

EDIT 2: And they should keep GT6 secret until it's almost done and then "Surprise!"

I'm still confused as to why Polyphony is treating Prologue as a completely seperate game when it was originally meant to be a heavily watered-down, simplified version of the full GT5. Anything they have in Prologue will most likely make it to the full game (with fixes, etc.) so why not just focus on making the full GT5 and only bring certain content into Prologue through updates? Wouldn't this make development quicker and simpler?
