In a desperate bid to justify watching the fairly pointless Japanese GP on Sunday afternoon, I set-up a spreadsheet showing the world championship as if Ferrari had not competed this year - the Excel spreadsheet is attached.

Sadly, this has not provided a reason to watch the race, and the drivers and constructors championships in this version have also been decided.

It was an interesting exercise in any event, as it has shown the big three (Ferrari, Williams and McLaren) continue to dominate the point score.

Great Spreadsheet vat_man , infact could it be argued :argue: that the sport :gcar: would be better (Dare I say it) without :ferrari:?

Well my favourite :bmw: Montoya could have been the champ? :chkflag:

Okay, for the whole 3 people who downloaded this spreadsheet, here it is updated for Japan - and tarted up a bit.

The Non-Ferrari World Championship Results

A strong finish to the season saw Montoya bring it home from his team-mate (no formation finishes here!) while Coulthard's point-scoring at the start and the end of the season saw him comfortably take third ahead of Raikkonen. Button finished well clear in fifth, and Heidfeld's 2 points at Japan saw him jump into equal sixth position with Fishichella, with Irvine and Trulli finishing one point (and one position behind). All drivers except de la Rosa scored points.

The teams was more clear cut, with Williams taking a decisive victory over McLaren, who was well clear over third placed Renault, with Sauber fourth and the two Honda teams, Jordan and BAR, taking fifth and sixth respectively.
