If I saw a Sagaris, I'd think to myself, "now, why did that guy take an axe to his shiny, new TVR?"

You think that when you see the picture's, but my god it's stiriking when you see one in the fiberglass. When I first saw one actually infront of me, my jaw hit the floor, I'd seen the picture's, since then I've sat in one, had a ride in one and driven one, but no faster than 30mph and with no wheelspinning at all.

And they sound brutal
too right, best of the lot for me has to be the tvr chimaera with the rover V8  the straight 6's sound good but dont compare to that V8 growling and then banging and popping when you lift off

Would everyone rather a Viper, $80,000 would probably get you a Sagaris which would take a Viper for a walk round the park, then kick the hell out of it on the way home. Some people might prefer a Sagaris's performance and exclusivity to the Viper's performance and comparable lack of exclusivity.

I'd easily take a TVR over a Viper. To me the Viper is a waste of money because they are brutally uncomfortable for anyone over 5'11" 190lbs--and people think the Vette has a rubbish interior hasn't see the Dodge Neon Viper interior hybrid. And on top of all that--the car is ugly. A car that's 80% bonnet and 10% cabin and 10% boot is rediculous in my opinion. For $80k I can get a 911 that will lap it around a track and be a very comfortable daily driver. Hell, for less money I could get a ZEE OH SIKS and rock the Viper's ass AND be comfortable. However L4S, the Viper does have excusitivity because not many of them are made and not many of them sell so you rarely see one on the road. Infact I've seen as many DB9's as SRT10 Vipers actually driven on the road (2).

But $80k is quite a bit of money I suspect with that much cash it would be a tough choice--but I know I'd never choose a Viper. The Viper just seems generic to me.

[offtopic--sortof]For ****s and giggles here's the 911 I'd get for less than the Viper:

2006 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (2D Coupe)
Engine: 3.80L, Cyl: 6, Hp: 355, 0-60 time: 4.60, MPG: 18
[/offtopic]

Let's see a Viper get even within 10mpg of 18mpg that the 911 gets. 911 for teh win!

If they could somehow sell the TVR T350C or Segaris in the US for $80,000 I don't think they could get enough here quick enough to meet the demand. Sure, Americans love their Vettes and Vipers (as a matter of fact I almost prefer them), but TVR is third behind the other two unquestionably.

A quick comparison of prices c/o Dream Machines Kent and Sussex UK, currency exchanges by Oanda.com:

2006 TVR Segaris: $96,138.70 USD
2006 TVR Tuscan S: $93,519.90 USD
2006 TVR Tamora: $ 74,873.90 USD
2006 TVR T350t: $ 65,963.20 USD

Those prices aren't horrible to say the least, esp. with the performance/price comparison you are getting. The Segaris is the only TVR that can match the Z06 in terms of performance, and even at $96K USD it is still a fantastic deal when compared to similarly performing Porsches and Ferraris. My knowlege of the Tuscan is pretty much limited to videogames, but I still do not think $93K USD is that bad either. Hell, the T350t at $65K is probably a good deal compared to a Vette Z51 and a Viper SRT-10...

I make the Sagaris to be $89k, they sell for £50k not £55k.

The new Tuscan 2 is almost a fast on a circuit as the Sagaris, what would really spark supercar debates in the US would be if the $151k Typhon went into the US and showed you how to really hit 220mph ;).

YSSMAN
2006 TVR T350t: $ 65,963.20 USD

This is a great deal as long as the costs to export it to the US don't exceed $10k. It will have to be a little choked on the stupid emission standards as well as added weight of the safety equipment requirements. Otherwise ~$65k is a great deal on a TVR.

Well, if it is sent as a "kit car" (seperate rolling chassis and engine) it won't have to deal with any emissions regulations (except maybe in California, I'm not sure how CARB tests their cars). Our slightly dirtier fuel might cause a loss of a few ponies (less than ten), but that would be it...

When they finally do set up a dealer network over there that's probably going to be their onl;y choice, the platform allows you to build rhd cars just as easilly as lhd, so that would be a good thing for the US.

The news is saying the TVR will be leaving their Blackpool factory. One of the reasons given is that teh elase is expiring and the building still belongs to TVRs former owner anyway and he doesn't like the new owners.

Their lease expires in 6 months, this is why Smolenski has been looking for a new plant since last year, he can stay where he is, Peter Wheeler has nothig against TVR now he's left them, they're still a big thing to him. But the facilities are too out of date and the plant is too small and Smolenski would have to make a new long term deal to stay there, he wants updated facilities sooner, rather than later. This isn't all new news, it's just that the plan to move has been brought forward a few months.

Whoever said all cars need ABS in the States is wrong.

ABS is an option on the Chevrolet Malibu (Opel Vectra) here in the US, as well as the Pontiac Solstice sports coupe. IMO, it should be standard across the board at any company, same with side airbags... It only makes sense...
