Agreed. The only reason I play the game now is for the WRS TT's. Other than that, its game over for me. Even tho it is possible to cheat there, it is the honesty of the members and the hard work of the staff that help keep that series clean.

I wouldn't worry about much more cheating in the time/drift trials,
There are only a few thousand consoles left that can possibly do this.
(Judging by the number of downloads of required tools)

98% of those guys don't really know what they are doing, they just happen to have their console in the right state & follow tutorials or use tools.

On top of that, those guys are not interested in modding GT5, they are interested in modding COD games.
Further, going online with these consoles seems to equal an inevitable console ban.

PD should know that a competition like GT Academy is not 100% cheat proof at the moment though

I was talking about the drift/time trials.
There are no tools available to do that and console modification is required.

They could plant a dummy ssl certificate on the console & read/write packets or patch live memory. It's not possible through save editing.

Which makes me wonder, is it just now that this kind of hacking/cheating appears in Gran Turismo 5? It is not like jailbreaked PS3s and the general PS3 hacking community has just started, it probably existed way before GT5 was even released.

Looking at the whole thing from that point of view, it leaves a dirty taste of doubt for all previous competitions, no matter if there was something serious to win or not...

Its an expensive hobby to cheat the time trial though.
Some people get console banned after 10 minutes with a modded console online.
Others get away with it until they start modding games.

You're right, this kind of patching has been possible for some time.
You can see when something is up with a car in a replay though. If it's going a little too fast, acting erratically etc.

PD remove times aswell, I guess they can tell if something is bogus with the car.

Have you used a hybrid "in the online services of Gran Turismo 5"? (That includes more than just the Seasonal events.)

I don't give a 🤬 about Trophies, they're a waste of hardware.

same here, i never understood why people liked this. if these trophy's were skill bound they could have actually meant something (i think kof 13 is the only game i'm close to platinum with, i think i need 40 or 50 online matches to get it). some of the kof trophy's are hard as hell though, you need some real skill and execution to do these. that being said, i might finally get my platinum before the ps4 is released (if i actually went for platinum, i would have had at least 10 to 15 by now,)

I prefer making my own achievements/trophies (Using your head not practically making them) . Without a game telling me which is an achievement/trophy or not.

what i wonder is do people use trophy's as a measure for skill? because in general it has nothing to do with actual skill but more t do with the absolute waste of time of looking through every nook and cranny to find certain items to get the platinum trophy.

some trophy's actually do show your skill like in gt or fighting games, because you are doing skill based objectives and completing these actually teaches you gameplay and execution. but even these have worthless trophy's, like getting a trophy for setting up a name title.

all in all, most trophy's are worthless and a waste of time, in most games.

I drive hybrids and I've had that error message before. It fixed itself after logging off for a hour.
Imo make a alt account to use hybrids on so you don't lose your cars incase you do get banned.

That's ridiculous. Those are glitches and were PD's fault, the hybrids aren't.
