Looking for fun, slightly nostalgic racing? Right this way please, because, here it is, the NTCC (Nineties Touring Car Championship) to provide you with a regular fix of wheel to wheel racing.
This series aims to be very much like the BTCC and WTCC, except of course any entry by a team must be a car from 1990 to 1999. Cars of the series will end up performing in the general area of 450 Performance Points, but will be measured by horsepower and weight.
A full championship consists of 12 races, with three races each week 20 minutes in length and a 7 minute qualifier for each in the alone format with a ten minute break between races and the next qualifier which will be timed by the game. So a typical race night would go something like this (ET):
18:30ish: Room opens for practice on the first track
18:55: Room resets to be ready for racing conditions and all drivers are expected to be in the room by this time
19:00: First Qualifier starts and the race follows
19:30: (Time approximate to final lap length) First Race ends and track is switched for the second race
19:40: Second Qualifier starts and the race follows
20:10: Second Race ends and track is switched for the third race
20:20: Third Qualifier starts and the race follows
20:50: Third Race ends
The room will be set mostly for realism so it will look like this:
Grid Start
Fastest First
No Boost
Light Damage
Visual Damage
Real Slipstream
1 minute 10 Second finish timer
Real Grip Reduction at edge
1 Mandatory Pit Stop
No Tire type Change
Normal Fuel and Tire Consumption
All Aids off EXCEPT ABS which is optional
No Nitrous
Tires will be unlimited - This is a RACING Series, therefore RACING tires will be used.
Cars, however, are to be street cars seeing as GT hasn't given us a whole lot to play with in the area we're looking at. Cars will not sport any aero parts of any kind, so no spoilers, flat floors, or body kits of any kind will be allowed on any car. The rule on downforce is that there is none to keep the playing field a little more level.
There will be preseason testing before the first season to get performance of the cars more equally balanced. Over the course of the season some cars stats may change if it is clear they have an advantage on the rest of the field, or if they are clearly at a disadvantage.
There will be two championships in each season, one for drivers, and one for "constructors". Drivers points will be awarded as follows:
1st Place: 20 points
2nd Place: 18 points
3rd Place: 16 points
4th Place 14 points
5th Place 12 points
6th Place 11 points
7th Place 10 points
8th Place 9 points
9th Place 8 points
10th Place 7 points
11th Place 6 points
12th Place 5 points
13th Place 4 points
14th Place 3 points
15th Place 2 points
16th Place 1 point
Bonus Points
1 Point for Pole Position
1 Point for leading a lap
1 Point for leading the most laps
Constructors Points will be awarded in order of entire teams finishing the race. (Example: Team A finishes 1st and 4th, Team B finishes 2nd and 3rd. Team B places first for having both drivers finish the race before both of Team A's Drivers.) So Constructors Points will be awarded as follows:
1st Place: 10 points
2nd Place: 8 points
3rd Place: 6 points
4th Place: 5 points
5th Place: 4 points
6th Place: 3 points
7th Place: 2 points
8th Place: 1 point
In the event of a Driver's championship tie, the tying drivers will have a race off at a track as voted by all the other drivers that are not participating. The race will be 3 laps, no qualifying, winner takes all.
In the event of a Constructor's chamionship tie, the tying teams will have a race off at a track as voted by all the other drivers that are not participating. The race will be 3 laps, no qualifying, winning team takes all.
The schedule is open to changes after a season has finished. If a change is to be made with no particular track replacing another 75% or more of the drivers must vote for the change to happen. If a change is to be made to the schedule with a specific track replacing another on the schedule, 50% or more of the drivers must vote for the change. The current schedule can always be found here in this post and runs as follows:
Week 1:
Race 1 High Speed Ring
Race 2 Brands Hatch GP 80's
Race 3 Circuito de Madrid
Week 2:
Race 4 Daytona Road Course
Race 5 Tsukuba Circuit
Race 6 Apricot Hill
Week 3:
Race 7 Laguna Seca
Race 8 Trial Mountain
Race 9 Autumn Ring
Week 4:
Race 10 Twin Ring Motegi Road Course
Race 11 Special Stage Route 5
Race 12 Spa Francorchamps
Teams consist of either one driver or a pair of drivers, if there are two drivers on a team they must use the same car. There can only be a maximum of 8 teams which means if the championship is full, all drivers have a teammate. Teams are expected to have colour matching cars. Rims must be the same style but will differ in colour in order to help identify which driver is which. Numbers must also be run on the cars, please check with the Admin which numbers are available before putting it on your car. Only 2 teams can use the same car to keep variety in the field, however this means if there is a team with an open spot another driver can move to said team and use that car. Silly Season as it were can only occur between seasons and must go through the Admin to keep records accurate.
Driving Rules:
Keep 2 wheels on track at all times. Track cutting is strictly prohibited, if however, a cut is made accidentally you are to give positions made up back to all drivers passed. If no positions are made up, you are to slow down so that your lap time of the cut lap is equal to or slower than your previous lap. If a cut is made and there is no effort made to give back the time you will receive a last place finish.
Dive bombing is not allowed in any way, if a dive bomb results in significant time, or positions lost for the bombed driver, the bomber will complete a drive through pit penalty that very lap or receive a last place finish.
Corner Rules are slightly revised here, a passing car has the right to a corner once past the rear wheel of the car ahead, this allows for more passing. Please try to use common courtesy when passing and let the driver you're "there" by either telling them over your microphone or a quick beep of the horn if you do not use a microphone.
If you have an issue with another driver during a race and would like to report them please contact the Admin once the race night is over to do so. Penalties will be assessed on a case by case basis and will increase in severity for repeating offenders. The same is true for reporting other drivers too often, if you are found reporting other drivers constantly you will receive a penalty for being a P.I.T.A.
