Does anyone have any good tunes for these cars? I already have a great Furai tune but I'm not a good tuner

Check my tuning section for the Furai it will go under 6 min round the Nordshliefe.

It's sad that there are LMP cars at the 24 hours of Nürburgring. In real life, those cars wouldn't last two hours at that track. This endurance should be done with GT cars only, just like the real deal. I hope there will be a fix for this at some point.

I mean, just look at the very first words on Nürburgring 24 hours in Wikipedia:

The 24 Hours Nürburgring is a touring car and GT endurance racing event

Racing LMP cars in that race is like trying to enter NASCAR with an Indy Car...

Fully agree with you on that except DTM cars as well. Group C and LMP car dont really have a right to this event.

Use something with good handling.

Ah, but you see, Giulia TZ2s aren't quite fast enough.

However, I tried the Trial Mountain GT All Stars race in an HKS CT230R (modified up) and actually managed to win ahead of the Bentley Speed 8, so the 24h should be absolutely possible in it. Down Dottinger you will be destroyed, but through the twisties they will be destroyed as well :D And because Spec IIs physics update came into place the CT230R is no longer an understeering bugger with stock settings :D

Of the ones you have selected I'd go for the R390, that drives very well for me. Just the same principle as above applies, there is no high end torque on it at all.

How about the prize car from the 24h Le Mans?
Isn't that an option?

The R8 Oreca isn't really slow enough to make the race a challenge.

The Nurburgring is a track that is more focused on corners than straights.
So a car with softer tires can make up a fair bit of time during the corner sections.

I'm going to run test runs on nordschlief later today or tomorrow I think... I don't have the 24 hour course yet though... Lately, I've been doing the amg academy to get a feel of the 'ring in the wet, though. I'm also doing night practice runs on the time change nordschlief.

I'll post the times for the cars!

Oh and what is the time to beat on nordschlief, so I can get a good comparison!

I would think you need to be just under 6mins on the NS to be competitive (around 8min) in the 24hr

EDIT: Wouldn't 5:30 be too fast for a close race? that could put you around 7.30 for the 24 hr which would blast the competition. Also, what non LMP or formula car can do those times over 160 laps?

Sorry my mistake, I thought he wanted good times for the Nordshliefe. I see now, road car round there need to be around the 6.20 thus adding apr 1.30 for the GP-F section to the exit, should be comfortable.

I agree with you... I am considering cars that can do 7.45ish at a comfortable and repetitive pace, as I am not the best driver and need to leave room for error.

So far I can do this over 5/6 laps with the GT Spec II Test, Zonda R, CLK GTR. Tried the ZR1 but tire wear was not good. Want to try the Panoz and the McLaren GTR next.

At indy, the furai pitted less than half as often as the LMPs. It isn't a good car for le mans because it barely breaks 200 at Mulsanne, and it's only significant advantage is in the first curves and the Porsche Curves.

It's definately competitive enough at Le Mans, I'm getting 210 on the main straight, and I'm lapping at pretty much the same time as the chasing R8s. My advantage in the dry is the longer stints. Also I've got it getting into the mid 220's in a slip-stream on the straight.

I'd say that using a normal LMP might be your best bet unless you are a really, really, really good driver. I know I most likely couldn't win in anything but an LMP.

I've decided to run the cars in the GT All Stars Nurburgring race to directly compare cars to the group c cars for performance and strength/weaknesses for each.
Successes:
Mazda Furai (almost lost at the last second)
McLaren F1 (gained lead at very end)
Pagani Zonda R (whole lap battle, slingshotted on the straight)

Failures:
Corvette ZR-1 RM (still very close)
R390 (not quite fast enough at end)
NSX super GT (not fast enough)

Zonda might rip through tyres to fast, Try altering the geabox on the NSX Im planning my next 24 hrs in a GT500 car I think there a good choice and it will be close. Surprised the R390 not fast enough again try lenghening the gears ratios.

I ran my own test on the Mazda Furai this weekend, using the 24h race, I ran 1 lap past the first pit-stops.

550bhp - needed an oil change, tuning setup was just on trans - same as used for Le Mans with 210 actual achieved top speed unaided on straight, and ride-height. Max Downforce.

Conditions - Dry (0%)

Opposition included R8 Race Car, Speed 8, 787B, R10 TDI, 905, Courage '03

Tyres - Racing Soft

Lap times:
Lap 1 - 8:08; Lap 2 - 7.59; Lap 3 - 8:01; Lap 4 - 8:09; Lap 5 - 8:48 (inc pit stop)

Pitted (tyres) at the end of lap 4, 50 litres of fuel used => ~48 sec time lost in pit stop.

R8 & Speed 8 were closest chasing cars, followed by the 787B. Other LMP were approx 8 sec slower per lap.

R8 was within 2 sec for first 2 laps, dropping to 5 sec by end of 3rd, and 15 sec by entry to the pits. R8, 787B, R10 and Courage all pitted with me, Speed 8 & 905 continued for another lap.

re-joined 33 sec behind Speed 8, which was cooking it's tyres. Regained lead at Karussell.

By end of 5th lap (Speed 8 & 905 pitted), was 35 sec ahead of R8.

I think this may be the car for me when I start this at some point in the next couple of weeks.

I'm still tweaking the cars, I don't want to destroy the acceleration of these cars because these cars gain a small lead before the straight. I'm about to test my third British bullet (I JUST bought this uber-fast front engined beauty, though right now I'm working out the understeer.)

Should I grind for the super GT fairlady Z?

I've started the race in the McLaren! I'm stuck behind the rotary wonder, switching places on the main straight. I'm in the lead when I cross the line. I'm VIGOROUSLY blocking in the GP section (laying spike strips in nfs hot pursuit really help) before I eventually get passed in the high speed corners. Then we are back and forth going from straights to corners. Then "RENOWN" meets the rev limiters on the main straight again as I fly past at 230+. The race is as dirty as they come, both of us having our share of pushing and shoving and rear-ending. The intensity is through the roof!

Woops sorry for double post.

If you can maintain those times in the dark you will have a fantastic race. 👍

Can we assume you've chosen the road version? or are you using the FINA version?

Yes, but if it rains it would really spoil the race at it would become too easy

Road rocket! I also managed to slam the 787b into the pits to buy some time...

UPDATE!!!: (11:00)

It started raining.... (thank goodness for amg academy!) I'm in the grass a lot in the turns (on purpose on many occasions, grass is less slippery!). I'm flying through the straights but turns are tricky.
