xgarage, how do you take those pictures... whenever I try to take a digital picture of my TV, it turns out very over-exposed.

I did not do much just set my camera to no flash and hold really still. :)...and that was taken from the rear projector LCD. I don't know if that's a reason why I did not get over-exposed.

The "Under 5 min Club" is always impressive, with any car. But your 5m50 time isn't so bad since you had no tuning (I am assuming you were driving a stock car).

With the Minolta, all I did was:

(1) Add a Stage 4 Turbo that gives an extra ~200 HP
(2) Slap on four Super-Soft (R5) tires and it grips like a rocket on rails
(3) Tune the gear ratio a bit to hit over 385 km/hr (240 mph) on straights
(4) Tune down the TCS a bit for better acceleration

With a stock car, I did 5'43
With the above tuning, I did 5'12

The next item for me to tune is the suspension... especially for Nurburgring since the road it is so bumpy. Then there is still ASM, toe and camber... and... and...

Well, I drove it in GT Mode, with my cars from my garage. Didn't have any tuning indeed. Unfortunately I'm not very good at setting up a car... :(

Today with my Minolta Toyota I drove 5m37 or so. No tuning or whatever, Medium Racing Tyres, for the rest, it was the basic car from my garage. Put the ASM at 2 for Oversteer, and 10 for Understeer.

A stock car is a car how it comes from the "dealer"?

How about the Cien? You only have to beat the first special condition course to get it, and it starts as a very fun car to drive.

I suggest either a bone stock config,
or a config with only racing suspession (freely tunable) and R3s.

Here's a couple of times for you:

6:55 in a stock M3 GTR Race Car

11:01 in a stock Volvo 240GLT (oil change only)

8:30 in a fully modded Volvo 240GLT !! I thought it drove quite well, the suspension mods really helped.

The stock volvo is hilarious, you can get sparks coming off the front spoiler as the nose dives into the tarmac under hard braking... 👍

How about this setup, which myself, I find to be a real blast..

Mode: Arcade
Car: Ruf BTR OR Ruf Yellowbird:
Tires: Though many say to use N3 to get 'real-life' lap times, I like to use Soft Sport tires, as I'm more interested in getting the car in question to 'handle' as close to real-life as possible, and with N3 tires, the tires lock up way too easy when even applying even the lightest of braking and because the rear-end kicks out without really trying, both of which are not characteristics I would believe the BTR and/or Yellowbird to have and which do NOT occur when using the sport tires.

Of course, another option is the BMW 320i touring car in stock form, (No upgrades what-so-ever) and with either Hard/Medium Racing Tires.

Thoughts/suggestions welcomed! :)

Thx-

I just did a 8 04 230 with Road Tires :)

With SM i did a 7 49 079 but i made a few mistakes though :indiff:

no picutre but i got 7:46.507 and i ****ed up alot, could inprove 5-10 seconds. Stock sti with SM tires right? Im using a gt4 wheel if that matters.

I'm still proud of my 6min-50sec time in the Ruf Yellowbird!
That car is a BLAST to drive on the Nurburgring...as long as you're aren't afraid of getting the car sideways at high-speeds! LOL...

I got the fully tuned Volvo down to 7.50 or so. My best time so far is a 5.58 and bits with a Minolta in the Real Circuit Tours. R1 tires and about as much time on the grass as on the tarmac.

My suggestion as the competition car is the Amuse S2000 R1.

I second that. I have heard so much about what this car can do on the Nordschleife. Supposedly, it can win a 200-pt 24h. I have personally not done too much testing with it, but I'd like to see what kind of times everyone can come up with.

I've come close to 6'45 in the AMG 190 Touring Car and I think I have gone below that in the M3 GTR, but since I have no proof and don't exactly remember, I won't make any claims just yet. I'll run some laps when I get home later.

Other than that, you can try to beat my 24h fastest lap of 7'03.560 in the Altezza Touring Car, stock, R1/R1...although I don't expect that will be too hard. First person under 7'00, perhaps? :)

Edit: Some times that I just ran:

Merc. AMG 190 Touring Car, stock, R3/R3 - 6'46.794
BMW M3 GTR Race Car, stock, R3/R3 - 6'33.627
Amuse S2000 R1, stock except for R1/R1 - 7'32.952
^^ I haven't had as much track time with this car and it handles very differently from the DTM's I've been driving (more drift-y?). I suspect it can easily post times under 7'30. It would probably be better with R2/R2, but I originally was testing for the Nurb 24h so I put on the endurance tires.

My S2000 is quite heavily tuned with all the "handling upgrades" (suspension, drivetrain, lightening etc.) but it still has the stock engine and S1 tires.

I've driven the stock AMG 190 DTM on R2s to about 6.50 and I will test that Altezza as soon as possible.

- EDIT -

The time for the Amuse was 7.30.xxx, more of a show lap than a fast one

It took some suspension and transmission tweaking (I think changing the setup was allowed) but it is still quite hard. I think 6.55 would be near my maximum as the car's engine doesn't exactly suit my driving style

Nice lap! 👍

Just tried the Bentley Speed 8 today and it was like in a fast-forward film. I wonder what it is like with a F1 car... :ill:

I do believe that the f1 car is more "controllable" than any Group C car, especially on the Ring. Although I did have 3 offs on that lap I mentioned.

The current F1 record on GTPLANET is about 5'12" or less, I think... 'clean' lap. Not sure what thread it's in.

Haven't had the gall to try it for a while... right now I'm doing slow cars on the ring, but every now and then, I take the Escudo out for a spin (literally... ), currently at 6'47", disappointing, but that's with one or two offs... I'm aiming at knocking off the 6'44" time on the leaderboard on the same tires.
