Now, I like eatin' my turkey, but watching them struggle and die like that makes me sick. What was he doing, strangling it until it suffocated!?! A swift chop of the neck would work better and would be less barbarian.
Because flopping around spurting blood for about a minute makes a much better image on TV.

God forbid that people actually have to kill turkeys before they ship them out to grocery stores for you to buy them.

Palin/Turkey Killer 2012!

It isn't that no one understands you have to kill the turkey, but no one wants to see it and it really is not good for a politician's image to perform an interview with that in the background.

Palin/Turkey Killer 2012!
Instead of Joe the Plumber she can have Tom the Turkey Killer.

Considering that she was there to "pardon" a turkey (a tradition, apparently), the choice of backdrop couldn't have been less appropriate  To be fair, I wouldn't be surprised if this was done on purpose - it certainly couldn't have been staged to make her look any more foolish.

They've been playing it up on the cable networks, talking about how the reporters asked if she was okay having the turkey's slaughtered behind her, and reportedly she told them "No worries."

Mkay. I guess.

I guess she could have said it was okay, but she prefers to hunt for her turkeys out in the wild?

After consulting dictionary.com I would say no, but I am not familiar with turkey hunting.
Really, like as in the actual act of hunting for turkey? Just curious because it is turkey season here in Kentucky.

So Sarah Palin held an interview. Except this time, turkeys are being slaughtered in the background. I think this lady has had a little too much of that McCaine.

/ULTIMATE FACEPALM.

I love this video. Now, I dislike Palin just as much as I dislike McCain and Obama and Biden (well, actually, I really hate Biden more than the other three, but anyway…); however, I have infinitely more respect for her for 1) not being all freaked out by the death of a delicious animal, and 2) for sticking the figurative middle finger up to political correctness and so-called good PR. Here’s a woman who has the strength of character to not give a damn about any of it. That’s someone I can have at least some respect for.

Footnote: Joe Biden has worked very very hard to put innocent drug users in jail for committing victimless crimes, yet nobody has called him out on it. Palin talks while a stupid turkey gets turned into something useful, and everybody freaks out. There is some seriously misplaced compassion.

No doubt. But, come on, that's like the dumbest place to have an interview. Was anybody concentrating on what she was saying?

No there isn't. It's only useful for us as food, but what are we useful for? Humans are basically as useless as turkies. We all do the same thing, live our lives and multiply. At least turkies don't help the earth to hell as we humans are doing ;)

Is this thread done by now?

Electoral college is now out for winter break, and they're busy signing up for new courses.

Interestingly enough I've heard that they vote officially in December.
Good point.

You've gotta give them time to clean out the dorm rooms, sign paperwork with the Resident Assistant, secure rides to go home, and trade in the textbooks.

This is still open? Whats the point now that its served its purpose long ago?

So, this morning my wife had Good Morning America on while I was getting ready for work. George Stephanopolous was talking about Obama's economic team already putting together a stimulus package in hopes of getting passed the day he takes office. High figures were estimating $700 billion.

Then they called it an unprecedented economic plan.

Since when was doing the same thing President Bush did a year ago unprecedented? Or maybe they are just referring to the new all-time high deficit this will create?

Change! CHAAANGGEEE!!!

Everything's different now! Bush would never have thought of giving away $700 Billion of taxpayer productivity... uh... again. It's only now that we've got Obama that we can get real change.

Obama's speech this afternoon was otherwise uneventful. His new economic team seems decent, but I think the key discussion was on his Stimulus Plan. Obama made sure to remind us that solid figures aren't being discussed yet, but more or less that the main goal of the plan would be to create 2.5 Million jobs... Something, it seems, he wishes to do with increased government spending on public works. In my opinion, thats a better option than sending out checks to everyone, making them work for their money.

Of course, we've still got a while until anything would actually happen.

My pick for Secretary of State, Bill Richardson, is going to end up being Commerce Secretary. I think hes a great guy, I just wish he would have been given the better job (of the two).

I'd prefer cutting a one-time check over creating long-term dependence on government spending.
