Didn't Yamauchi say that they were working on day / night cycles?

Or did he say that they were working on display tracks during different times of the day, meaning that you have select a predefined time before starting the race?

PD has said variable weather is "on their roadmap"

In Flight Simulator it actually downloads the whether for your location. If you were to take off at your local airport and it was raining in real life, it would be raining in real life... thats pretty awesome but I dont see that being part of GT.

I dont think that'd be useful. Say you want to race on an Aussie track at night in the rain. In real life you'd probably have to wait until winter, then to race at night, if you happened to live in the US, that'd mean for you, you'd have to race early in the morning to early afternoon to have night here in Australia. :P

It could be an option I suppose, race on the track either during your own preselected conditionsm or race on it with whatever conditions are there in real life... but I'd rather PD not waste time doing that :P Maybe for a few special online events they could do something like that.

Lets just put it this way if GT5 has the same physics or better, 16+ cars on the track at once, better force feedback, 1080p, 60fps, 7.1ch surround sound, day night cycles, variable weather and damage then I think I may just take a month long vacation. Honestly no game has ever had all that in one package.

It was a joke (see the smiley face). The turn 10 guy said that Forza3 is the definitive racer of this generation. Thus there can't be any features in GT5 that would make it the definitive racer.

edit: "OK, one thing first, how in the bleep do you know this? I think that you're just some nobody who has beef with PD/SCE and wants to stop this discussion of day night cycle. Another thing, why do people act like they know everything. You should know what happened to the last person who did that. (2pac) "

same reply for this post. stop taking things so seriously.

Sorry, evedentialy i missed that.

2pac didnt know everything, he just knew too much about too many people with too much to lose. he was silenced.
Biggie was just a casualty and a publicity stunt for pdiddy's bad boy empire(the first of many victims)
respect to both

BUT REALLY IF U THINK GT5 WILL HAVE FULL HD CKPIT VIEWS, DAMAGE, 16 CAR GRID, DAY AND NIGHT CYCLES, BUT NOT THINK THERE WILL BE HEADLIGHT EFFECTS U ARE NUKN FUTS A
AND EVEN IF THERE ISNT, IM SURE IT WILL NOT STOP ANYONE FROM PLAYING IT NON STOP FOR THE FIRST 48 HOURS

that is clearly missing the point. Obviously we will play GT5...isn't it odd not to when a feature is not implemented? The point is that having day to night transitions will have a great effect on the immersion when doing a 24 hour race such as Le Mans. Not only that, but as a driver/gamer you have to adjust to night-time driving which can also play a factor; let's not even get inbto the track temprature, the effect on tire-wear, the amount of wind and so on and so forth. Oh, and no-one is 'nuts' for expecting it; they have had a great amount of time working on GT5, optimizing the game and implementing features; it is simply a realistic consideration and to be frank it would be a real shame if they did not have it working correctly.

Plus it would be awesome :)

Seeing as how PD said they are working on it perhaps after all this time they will finally be able to incorperate it in the final game.

O.o

Imagine if everyone here was playing Prologue right now instead of whining in pointless threads.
But then there'd be nobody to complain about the fact that's nobody's racing online anymore. ;)

I will have whatever you're on!

Sorry If i have missed this.

I personally use the Menu Screen as a indicator. It has a map of the world with temp, time/date for race tracks around the world.

This would tell me that day/time/weather will be present depending on real world conditions for that specific track you are racing, online or offline.

Except for the 7.1 surround, you basically just described GTR2 :P

Or there may just be selectable "time of day" options like dawn, midday, sunset, duck etc.

Feathers everywhere!!

Im sorry my first though was a few LMPs going through a flock of ducks on the mulsainne straight at Lemans

im not terribly worried about the transitions, but i would like the option to select weather/time of day and the like.

If they only implement transitions in enduro's ill be happy

Ok and GT5p or better level graphics. GTR2 is an amazing game though. Its still going strong and has a huge community. I just wish the physics were better. I just play it for the mods.
