Of course Jim Sterling has to jump on it now...

And rightfully so. GT7's economy is some of the most disgusting bull I've ever had the dispelasure of being a part of. This is a Sony first-party title, base-priced at 70 €/$ at that. This is not acceptable.

If you think this doesn't need exposing, I don't know what to tell you.

Couldn't watch these identikit channels complaining about games for hours on end personally but they do carry some clout and hold companies feet to the fire to a certain extent.

A car that cost £2.50 in GTS (Porsche 919) is over £25 in Gt7, those microtransaction prices need to be talked about whether we want to admit it or not.

You know, I would've never seen that video if you hadn't linked it here.

They're not wrong, and showing these practices to as many people as possible is what (hopefully) prevents it from happening again in the future.

Not sure why you're upset by the video.

I guess he's looking for that hate click revenues now.
LOL, someone just woke up to the purpose of youtube "influencers"

Jim doesn't give a F about GT7. He's just doing it for the views.

Most doesn't care about a single thing they harp about. They aren't making their videos for actual people who play the game, but internet normies who just want a rage boner.

The problem as I see it is it should have been done last week. If it just gets a bunch of people to do a blind review-bomb when they don't even play the game, especially after PD has already said they are putting out "fixes" very soon, it seems like it could run the risk of making PD not respond to future criticism if they're going to be dragged regardless of the response.

I'm 100% for the video, I just don't like the timing.

I don't give an F about people's 'escalating' an issue that was in the previous Gran Turismo games either, I have never seen a row blow up so much when the transactions were there on 5 and 6, cars were able to be bought on Sport, it's always been in the business praactice and that will not change.

It is down to us ALL NOT to buy a microtransaction, I have never spent one penny on Gran Turismo other than buying the game and any free DLC's that had to be downloaded.

If every one took my stance you would all quite clearly see the transactions disappear from the game, that is all I have to say on the matter as I will not enter the right's/wrongs of this discussion. It is going on for far too long and now you are all scaring people off buying the game because that is all people find on the internet.

I will NOT support microtransactions and that will always be my policy.

Doesn't matter though. Sony/PD deliberately kept the microtransactions from reviewers. They lied. And they did it to intentionally scam their entire fan base. It's absolutely disgusting behaviour and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it, they deserve any and all criticism coming their way.
They could have avoided all this by not being greedy and deceptive.

They've been in the last two (or three?) games and were never a problem there. Yeah it's kind of scummy, but the game economies of those titles were generous enough that it never felt like the game was built around MTX's.

They could pull them out of GT7 and the game would still be a grindy, boring, incomplete mess. I've been extremely hard on this game since release, but it's the economy, lack of content, and UCD/LCD structure that have made the game (thus far) the worst in the series. I'd be glad to see the MTX's go, but that alone won't save this game.

By what? Telling it like it actually is?
Well there is a big difference between those people who actually like and play the game(or like to play the game, but don't because of the current economy system) that are critisicing Sony and PD and those people who just want to bitch around about everything to get views and likes on social media and make a living out of that negativity...I think there is no need for latter, they are just high level trolls to me

Why do you think the economy is like that ? Don't you think it is to push people to use those carefully and meticulously MTX integrated everywhere in the game ?

No, not participating is not enough. The reason things are going to change is because we made a kerfuffle. If we just did nothing and said nothing nothing would've happened. Guess what, I have never purchased any mtx-es either, not just in GT, but in any game whatsoever. Didn't prevent them from becoming the norm.

The MTX situations in the last 2 games were warning signs that were building for years and many people ignored it or tried to shut down others who called it out. GT7 was the straw that broke the camels back.

Like them or not, Sterling makes serious points that we must keep pressuring devs and publishers to walk back on predatory monetisation. The mainstream industry hasn't learned a thing and the only way to get them to learn is to rake them over the coals.

He is correct though.

The game is built around collecting cars, which are expensive, with small credit payouts, and no means of selling cars to manage credits. Credit management has been thrown out the window.

You don't even earn back the money it costs you to compete in the final GT trophy.

The "keeping sums in line with the real world costs" rings hollow when the prize money is so minimal. If we're going to be keeping it real, as it were, then the manufacturers should be paying me a weekly or monthly salary for being a team driver. Championships should pay out sponsor bonuses for podium positions, both online and off line.

They made a mistake and should totally be raked over the coals for it.

Lay it on. PD is just words and no action yet, and no matter what it's going to take months if not years to get the game in the state it should be, just as it was with GTSport.

The damage is done, and it's all on Kaz/PD/Sony. I don't give a crap about the timing of the criticism. They opened themselves up to a class action lawsuit.

If you want this game to end up in the state it should have been at for launch, it's going to take a lot more of these videos and articles. If we as customers let up, Sony will just easy off the gas and bleed us for cash. This is an industry-wide problem and we need to continue to fight it. If I buy a pair of roller blades, I put them on and can use them forever. Imagine buying them, then having to pay a little bit more every time you use them. Who the **** would want that? Same here. You paid for a game, but it's engineered to make you pay more to play to avoid grinding.
