Haven't seen any of today's action yet. Were Sunderland value for their win?

It was a game that could have went either way, although I think Sunderland only had 1 shot on target.

Manchester United go top after beating West Brom and Man City lost to Swansea. Of all the run in games, I didn't think City would lose to Swansea. They still have Arsenal and Chelsea to come, whereas United don't have to play a top 8 team until they meet City at the end of April. Not a good day for City.

Statto;

Man City dropped just two points from their opening 12 games.
Man City have dropped 16 points from their last 16 games.

Ouch, Mancini's men picked a bad time to slip up, and that form isn't too promising either. It may be slightly cliche, but United have a team full of winners of the league, and much of City's team lacks that experience. Scholes coming back for United in January has made a difference to the midfield, as much as City missing Yaya Toure and Kompany for periods recently has made a detrimental impact to their season.

I wouldn't say City don't have winners, it's more that United have character while City lack team chemistry.

That's my take on it anyway.

A result of the team being expensively assembled and just thrown together then? I can see your point, United always have people who will work hard for the points in the face of adversity like Rooney, which was somewhat epitomised in the 3-0 to 3-3 comeback against Chelsea. City seem to lack that sometimes

Precisely, City have a mish mash of admittedly talented players. But you can't keep chopping and changing year on year and keep the momentum going. Like I said, lacking in team chemistry.

Yes, what they really need is a consistent core which is used to playing with each other, as there is that lack of chemistry as you pointed out. Maybe if City lose to Lisbon next week, they might focus on the league better. Certainly it's going to be tricky chasing United.

Liverpool lost. Chelsea won. Man City lost. Man Utd won and went top.

As a Liverpool fan this is the worst sporting weekend of all time.

After a run of poor performances, United played well yesterday, not spectacular but very efficient. I'll take 10 more of them as long as we retain the trophy! The Bilbao game on Thursday might have been a real wake up call and could sort our season out for the better.

Premiership > Europa League

City didn't care about the Europa League. ...Until that was all they had.
Liverpool didn't care about the League Cup. ...Until that was all they had.

You know what I mean. Is the LC really a priority for most teams? None of the big ones. Or, it shouldn't be.

The same first team (pretty much) struggled to overcome Cardiff.

League must be the priority, and Liverpool have gone off the boil recently. And Newcastle. 6th/7th is going to be tight. 10ish games left, and Liverpool are 5 points behind the Toon with a game in hand.

Good grind-out win by Arsenal. CL football next year is a more likely scenario now than a month ago! Even better is Spur's traditional end of season slump :D

Spurs' slump this year coinciding with speculation about Redknapp and the England job.

No doubt "'Arry" is wondering if he should go Cayman Islands or Liechtenstein this time, with his FA slush fund.

That was quite an exciting finish for Arsenal, but let's be honest, they should've scored more goals. As for Newcastle's goal, I'm surprised Szczęsny didn't save that shot. Nonetheless, well-deserved 3 points.

I know! I was jumping up and down on the sofa! Great feeling!

Does anyone know what the beef was between Krul and RVP?

"Nee, jij bent de ezel! Ik ben beter als van der Vaart!"

Or words to that effect.

Geared up for the big game tonight; Wrexham vs. Ebbsfleet It's the Merseyside Derby!

Again it all reiterates back to the point about an inexperienced back four. Puts a lot of pressure on the lack luster second string midfielders to deliver.

There is a lot of fantastic talent in our young back four, but they're all under 21 bar Evans. Young and learning and all that. I also find it a pity that Rafael is being lambasted big time for his mistake, when he's being superbly for the most part of 2 years. He's for me, going to be the best right back of his generation and it's extremely exciting to watch him develop as a player.

Also I do enjoy Dalglish's comments. They get more comical every week.

Handbags... according to this, Tim Krul threatened to kick the ball at Van Persie's head if he didn't stop getting in his way, and Van Persie said "Go ahead then, do it".

Interesting statistic about Wolves, the last three premier league games televised they have featured in they have conceded 5 goals in each of them, the most recent being Man United beating them 5-0 today. Not looking good for them. Also, Torres has scores twice for Chelsea in the FA Cup, maybe he might start playing properly again now he has some confidence. First goals in 25 hours.

Highly, highly doubt it. The same was said at the start of the season when he scored 2 or 3.

I like how the commentators criticized Sturridge for being greedy and not assured but were full of praise for Torres for the entire game. If it had been Bendtner or Heskey playing their 27th consecutive game without a goal the commentators would be up in arms with rage.
