Your not doing anything wrong Selah_Racer you just keep trying, I am having a problem with that one too, but I've tried it like 5 times and each time I get closer, last night I was within a quarter of a sec (cant remember exact time) but just keep at it.

I havent yet.... but i have never used anything to play this game since GT on psone so im gonna have to pass it with my ps controler.

Has anyone beat the final mission with a contorller, is this even possible with a controller??!?!?! DAAAAANG they made GT-4 hard

~scott

lol, you HAVE to find the AI at the right places, so annoying. 2 minutes is so long :yuck:

*king_of_drift*
so you have beat it with a controller? I just need some modivation.

~scott

Nope, still trying with the wheel.

If I wallride Karussel then I win....time to question my morals :D

Having a lot of trouble with mission #14, the one with the superbird. That car sucks so bad  Making time up on the buick seems really hard for me. I've shaved it down to 5.00 seconds at the finish, but that's only 1.5s faster than when you start. Anyone have any laptimes (per lap, not per mission .. I know it should be <6.02) or recommendations for it?

Well after 2 days of trying (and wasting roughly 2 hours of my life waiting) I can gladly say that the last mission is possible with the ds2. All the other missions are a cakewalk compared to that one. keep trying i know its tough but its the only true challenge in the game.

oh yeah and this is my first post :)

here's a tip for the laguna seca mission (mission 12 w/ford gt lm).

you can cut the corner leading left onto the hill which brings you to the corkscrew. make sure u downshift to 3rd and keep the RPMs +/- 6,000. This will allow you to stay in the powerband essential for that hill. then you want to cut across the left so your GT is positioned straight over the left rumble strip (blue/white). you'll have the straightest possible line leading to the outer right edge of the corkscrew entry point.
also i've found never to underestimate the breaking point just before the corkscrew itself.

oh yea, and guys.. POST TIPS !!! this thread can become a valuable resource for those intermediate folks who just cant figure out wtf they are doing wrong :dopey:

Why would you want to cut the corner? That's cheating.

Why would you want to cut the corner? That's cheating.

and its slower... i tried doing that at first ... then i realized you can maintain more speed actually taking the turn bc the car grips so well... that test is relatively easy

Maybe I should define "Cut".

You can brush the dirt a bit over the rumble strip, allowing you to stay off the far right as you exit.

ok this one was the hardest of done so far (ive done through slipstream)

basically, yes the car sucks REALLY :grumpy: bad. If you havent noticed, it sucks really bad at braking and at turning. And i have solutions on what to work on so you can win:

1) for braking: if you have to brake really hard (ie after straight) hold the brake full on just for a little bit, then tap it really fast... kinda like braking a car without anti-lock brakes. It prevents the car from slidding as much, and slows it down more effectively. This is also true for some of the other turns mid course, just experiment as you go.

2) for turning: whatever you do, NEVER NEVER NEVER brake while turning. It is the ultimate downfall of this challenge. All this will do is make your car turn less, and you wont slow down, youll just slide out wide and lose lots of time. Solution: finish braking before you get to the turn, then accelerate through the corner. This tip will bring you lots of success in many of the challenges.

Also, the middle of the course, ie after you go up the hill, is key. Go all the way to the left as you go up the hill, brake enough so that you can drive through the inside of the corner (while accelerating) and carry that speed down the straight. Exact same strategy for the next hard corner. Doing this section well is critical.
Also, for the final zig-zag at the pit entrance, you want to carry as much speed as you can through that... you may hit the outside wall coming out of it, but you usually dont get a penalty.

You should be able to pass the first 2 cars before you get to the straightaway in the middle of the course on the first lap. If not, your not going fast enough. Basically, you should be able to catch the leader by the middle to end of the 2nd lap. Once you get there, keep youll cool, hit your marks, and try to pass him when you see a good window of oppurtunity. His car is pretty powerful, so a light block pass in one of the final corners may be your best bet... just make sure its not too hard and that youll have the better racing line coming out of the pass.

Hope that helps. Just keep working at it and youll get it.

yeah, thats the best way to do it. Just brake a little before the turn and you can power right through it 👍 :)

Being able to get 1st place midway through the 2nd lap sounds nuts, but I surprised myself on another one of the 11-16 ones by doing the same thing, so I'll give it a go. Thanks for the tips & the advice on how far I should get during the first lap. I had skipped this one and proceeded to the next "troublesome" one, which is Le Sarthe.

Although, part of the reason I'm sucking on it is a) I'm used to Le Mans and all the extra turns are pwning me and b) I haven't been able to get close to anyone on the straightaway for a slipstream. I'll be giving #14 some more work with your help before I try this one again. Thanks for the tips!

Edit: Got it in <5 tries with that bit of information. 2nd try he was still 6s ahead of me on the finish. 4th try I passed him midway through 3rd lap. Seemed so easy

played 1:30 hours on missions 30-34, let me say....it took a long time to do the cien (learned not to shift down to first gear on the first corner, stay in second, you get an unbleiveible run on the gto ((if ur lucky u can overtake the spiecal)) )
the ford gt race took one try (lol) and the subaru (beat by .050 :sly: ) same with the lotus race :dunce: but the nurburgring.......i quit that 👎

im not sure if this is a stupid question, but how the heck are you supposed to beat the slipstream mission with the honda odyssey??

ive beaten the cube and s2000 ones, and am within 0.3 sec of the skyline one (slipstream battles) so i know what general strategies are for drafting...

but for the odyssey, since its only one lap, im just leapfrogging one car to the next and staying in the line/draft of the car in front of me. im still off by around 1.5 seconds though. what am i doing wrong? do i need to cut in on the last turn or something? or stay up high?

hopefully im just doin something stupid, so please help!! thanks...

If I remember correctly, you should cut in on the first turn, until you are within drafting distance of the 1st odyssey - it makes it easy.

I did cube, s2000 & odessey all on first tries, so I might not be able to offer anything *too* helpful. Skyline one took me 2 hours tonight, which was really frustrating since I did it on my 2nd try on the chinese version :guilty:

Leapfrogging from one to the next as smoothly as possible is the way to do it. Once you're ahead, I cut to the inside so that I wouldn't get a computer slipstreaming me. It took me a while to get the first slipstream off the computer, but once you get the first one, each following one should be consecutive. ie, You start losing speed from your first slipstream, stabilize, and then start gaining speed from the guy in front. If that isn't happening, your not driving properly (but since you passed the others, I don't see that being the case :P) Cutting in on the first turn to increase the speed at which you start drafting the guy in front, as suggested above, might also help.

As I've found with my problems w/Skyline & Mission #14 in this thread, the best thing to do is repeat! Play it till your fingers fall off :dopey: You'll get it eventually. On that note, got every mission done today except #34 and Le Sarthe.

Is there anyway to turn off the ASM and TCS in the mission halls? they're really owning me :(
Yes - ASM and TCS sucks - and NO - No way to turn the off.. You'll need to adapt ;)

I'm not sure how "advanced" you are :P, but the draft can be tricky to find in the corners. When your far from the car ahead of you the draft is usually a car length above the cars actual line.

Just FYI, making sure your not missing something simple :P

Ok, thanks guys. I'll try it again tonight. That skyline slipstream battle is SOO frustrating; im so close yet so far!! props to everyone who's finished it already!

I think Mission Hall requires a steering wheel badly... YES the Mission Hall is very Interesing and FUN! A LOT OF FUN! I use my Formula Force GP and it was a great Experience. Gamepad just doesn't work here..
The really hard one is the Nissan Skyline 3 laps and one lap magic with corvets on infineon, I'm stuck there but it's very challenging. GT4 RULES! 👍
