It sounds like PSN might be down for maintenance and effect online game play. Anyone tried to get in yet today?

I had read yesterday that it was from this morning to tomorrow morning (PST). A quick google search confirmed it was today 2/2/12. Hopefully it doesn't effect us tonight.

FYI there is maintenance going on for PSN but the web site says online play is not effected.

Racers, please be in my lounge prior to 9:30pm eastern so I can get a head count for the public lobby.

Also, quailifying; once qualifying starts please keep track of your best lap, after I qualify (I go out last to make sure no riff raff try to join) I'll pull off track and ask everyone for their time. I'll then give the grid order, then start the race. Please line up on the pace lap. Thanks all, see you tonight!

as for passing here at the Indy Road Course

Turn 1, out brake your opponent here and gain position heading into turn 2.
be careful not to bump entering turn 1 or one of you will end up into the wall at the end of the long front straight.

Turn 4, it is possible you got a better drive out of turn 3 than your opponent and will arrive beside each other heading into 4. try not to bump/push your opponent into the sand on the way past into tight fast turn 5.

Turn 6, you can out brake your opponent here, take the inside of the corner and hope you can make it stick through turn 7.

Turn 8, tight left hander on back straight that tightens quickly upon exit, take the left side out brake your opponent and watch you line on exit careful not to send him spinning out on the grass before the 'S'

Turn 12 and 13, it is possible to draft past your opponent using the slingshot from both of these corners to beat your opponent to the finish line. try not to hit the wall or the grass in turn 13 to make this happen successfully

Dammit, sorry guys. Can't make this one. Priorities are taking more time than I thought. I'll be in for the last race next week though. I love La Sarthe.

so how did the race go?

It was a fun race, some people loved the car/track others not so much. I personally had a great time racing with the guys. The issue is still there with the grid order but I had the guys read off their best lap times then gave everyone the grid order, we lined up on the pace lap and were good to go.

Next weeks race, I'm going to need a lot of practice and work on my car as I was 10 seconds of pace.

I enjoyed driving the Challenger but I'm much more competitive in smaller cars. Got to mix it up some with Scorpion and Envy after being in limbo between the 2 groups for the first stint. The R35 TC is truly a beast-extremely fast with loads of grip. More than I know what to do with.

It just blows my mind that the grid doesn't work right now. Incredible.

Next update is on Tuesday the 7th. I'm not counting on any fixes for the online problems. Oh but there will be a fix for the drift trial replay bug??? WTF David Blaine?

I ran a bunch of laps at Le Sarth, That 3:40 JT ran was super fast, I cant do it, anyone gonna be on today?

I don't know how JT ran that fast either, all I can manage is a couple of 1:55's and the rest are above the 2 min mark

I will be on most of today since I am at home nursing my concussion :ouch:
after all I now have 4 different races to practice for and a wide selection of cars to choose from!!! thanks JT,RR and DA!:scared:

I turned the 3:40 using a really nutty tune. A tune that can't be used for racing, really high camber, it was up in the 3's, extremely negative front toe, around -25, zero rear toe, short transmission, and super low aero settings. Not reliable for a race. The times should be 3:44's with 3:43's being hot I suspect.

anyone else having trouble setting up this damn R-35?!?:indiff:

now I can't even get close to the 3:55's I was running with the stock set up!!:ill:

what are you guys hitting down the Mulsanne straight?
I am getting around 320KM/h or 199 mph
p.s. least favourite corner Tertre Rouge, and man does that make or break your lap!

I hit 198 I think. It's all about the corner in.

Passing area's for la Sarthe

1)the Dunlop curve: clear your opponent just before the Dunlop Chicane

2)the Mulsanne straight: pass your opponent before the first & second set of chicane's
or if you are real brave try to make your pass before the 'kink' in the road before the Mulsanne corner.

3)Arnage corner: out brake your opponent heading into this corner and make it stick through the Porsche Curves

average tire wear on softs is around 3 laps! with the average times around 3:55's, for me it will be a 4 stopper for sure!

I just ran 3:45's in stock trim with aero maxed and top speed at 228. Softs are a joke, lasting only 3 laps.

Im getting a new mic/blutooth, you guys have any to suggest? My old one was just a cell phone blutooth that was super old. I was thinking the new sony one looked good.

I have the Plantronics behind the ear model. Works really good

Mike I am using a cheap Hip Street behind the ear model, nice and clear no mute button and the battery life is a little on the low side.

as for the gd fast lap times, quit it already! I still cannot break the 3:52 barrier!! Although I can squeeze out 4 laps out of my soft tires:crazy:

Sorry... another league that I run in is running there Tuesday so I've been putting in some extra time. Don't over think the setup. I found if I don't carry a lot of speed into the corner and let it roll until apex then get on the throttle it works well. Just don't over drive the front tires.

I've got the old style Sony PS3 now, it works great, but overpriced. I got mine by trading an extra controller I had for it or I'd have bought something else (cheaper).

I have seen a few of the PS3 ones for sale on some of the computer forums for $15-20.
