Oh crap >: |

For me, GT5 has really been exposed as a joke after this competition. Even if you do lap in a "legal" manner, this game is still far from a sim, or anwhere near iRacing's level of realism when it comes to how a car reacts to the tracks different surfaces, among many other areas when it comes to replicating the entire experience of driving a real car on a real race track.

I can't wait to take the FW32 out on Spa. When this is all over we have to try and round everyone up and do some real sim racing :sly:

this is pretty much my saddest realization of the game... but i guess i'll have to hope i'll get some money back when i list it on ebay... only thing is i've already used the extra cars code and downloaded it

I think PD's only solution will be a 3rd reset of the courses with a 1 day round. :scared: Seriously though I think they will have to do it, AGAIN.

Why not at this point lol. Give people 24 hour notice starting tomorrow and end the competition on Monday. Go from 12-12 on the 7th, which is I believe when it's scheduled to end, so no time is left to explore the exploits. I mean they've robbed people of 36 hours of driving time already what's another 24 hours.

R1600, I wouldn't be so sure that a 2:44.1 will make the cut. I'm nervous as hell with where I stand now. I have this sickening feeling that the bouncing will get even crazier and the times will start falling.

How about a 2:43.974? :sly:

:-( I work EVERY day this month and it kills me to get a surprise every day when I get home to check my ranking. What??? no ranking? start over? no extensions?

I usually run against myself for a while before loading a ghost... but when I do... there are many WTF moments :-(

I just got home and checked the forum before turning on gt5... I am afraid... very afraid. I work all day tomorrow (last day) and then have the superbowl after work.

Maybe this post should be in the "excuses" thread why you won't pass round 2.

This seems imminent to me (if they don't do something about it there will likely be a huge uproar from a lot of folks) - I just wonder if they will spend anytime evaluating the tracks before jumping the gun and picking another combo next time around. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...but for now we're just along for the ride on a nauseating roller coaster

Just watched some more of the top replays from Madrid.

FixbyWire's lap is awesome to watch. Although I don't know why he has his windscreen wipers on.

I cant get over just how poor and inconsistent the penalty system is. You can smash the wall on Madrid at a critical part of the track and not get penalized, but yet on the last corner of Rome where the wall is way the hell out there, you just tap it and it invalidates your next lap. Or, also on Rome, coming down the straight after the kink and you graze the right side wall going into the slow left your lap turns red. Ridiculous.

Dude no kidding I just got off after spending 15 minutes running rome because that EXACT same thing happened to me. I was .4 behind DR too.

They really should'nt have to evaluate all the tracks. PD should of had red numbers show anytime you touch a wall or go all four off track anywhere in the game. This would of made it so much easier for oganizers to host these events. I feel bad for Sony/Nissan for having to deal with this issue.

To distract people as they try to "watch & learn" 💡

Yea, it's ridiculous and completely laughable. I couldn't believe how sensitive the wall is @ Rome under braking into the hairpin after the kink. Makes you wonder how they come up with and calculate the paramaters for the penalty system. I mean seriously, are they drunk when they do the coding or what?

Then again, nearly the ENTIRE damn game is like that. Whether it be the vast disparity in quality between standard and premium cars, different tire modelling on & offline, different tire modelling in private lobbies vs public lobbies, the horrible online mode which doesn't even offer proper qualifying or the ability to turn off the draft (which will likely ruin/skew the results when the semi-finals come around). I could on and on, but I won't waste our time...

What a shame. A shame that PD couldn't implement a proper penalty system. If they had we'd all be hotlapping like crazy to gain that extra tenth. Instead we are left to debate whether to bounce the wall to gain that extra time or not. I think its great that guys like AJ (Hunk/Legend), 3wide, Conman, Choate, Fix, blindside, Cheef, KRIS are all fast enough to get in without resorting to any of those shenanigans. Those guys are probably top 8 and going to Orlando anyways. However, what about the guys who just wanted to legitimately measure up and say they made it to round 3? Some of them will be screwed over no doubt. As there will certainly be folks ahead of them who achieved their times with some bounces. I say shame on PD for not addressing this prior to even releasing the game.

I don't see why they even need this round if they are just gonna choose the top 8 in Round 3. They should just throw Round 2 in the garbage and allow every1 that made it to Round 2 to compete in the 3rd round. Just take the top 8 from Round 3 and hope they choose car/track combos that don't allow cheating.

I'd actually be happy with that lol.

Thats a great idea Conman, but how would they award the prizes? I suppose they could just advance all 512 to round 3 and just not give out the GT5 LE copies to the top 64.

That sounds great wish It could happen I would stop playing and write my papers that are due next week lol and I have work tomorrow.

Top time at madrid in SE is "cheating" : ( slamming off the last turn at a high speed.

WHY!!!!!!!!! I'm starting to hate gt academy, should we do it also or are they gonna do something about it.

How hard is it to DQ all the track cutters and wall riders and let the clean drivers go to next round?
A track change does not help here.

Forza's penalty system would never let these things happen. Have you even played it? It might have its flaws, like every game does, but wall bouncing, corner cutting, and 4 wheels off will get your lap invalidated every time.

Oh yeah, forza is a solid game. But it's fan base often takes every opportunity to rabidly attack gt5.

OH NO NOT AGAIN!!! Um, I just tried to enter the events and they seem to be closed and all of the times are erased. I think they are shutting these down. :(

EDIT- sorry my bad, nevermind, it's OK.

Oh please let it just be my account. I'm sorry if this is the case, I don't mean to raise alarm.

EDIT- sorry my account just went blank for a bit. It's working fine now. I'm pretty stressed/exhausted, I should sleep...

I can't believe I put any effort into this. Well, at least my time is an accurate measure of my talent or rather lack of it (by comparison).

Just a note to you clean, fast guys out there: I've watched your ghosts and am in awe of your talent. Best of luck in the next round.

went through the top 10 in the NE while eating breakfast.
only one cheat wall-bouncer deathbringer197 (obviously) sitting 10th @ 1'38.830
