It's a 1980s Ford Granada. He could have tires made by Jesus and he still wouldn't be able to back up his claims.

I've been fortunate to see one personally so I can DEFINITELY agree with you on that Jondot. V6 powered P.O.S.

Paulie, think of the Granada like our Cortina, that's where the similarities come in, except for engine choices. 👍 But the Falcon wasn't that much better. :)

Famine - Sorry, but the claim does go back to the poster's delusion. Let's go back to his claim. If his car can beat an M3 around a corner it would make it pretty much the fastest Falcon to go around corners ever, even beating V8 Supercars. If that was the case, why isn't this :censored:er taking his beast to the track and racing Lowndes, Whincup and Tander?? He'd win for sure with just his pure handling performance.:P

Hang on a second, for its time the Falcon wasn't horribly horrible, it was still winning Group C championships and leading at bathurst before crashing, I'd like to see a Granada running with the RX-7s, 635i CSLs, Commodores and what not........
Plus, the current HSV GTS is not too far off of an M3 at all, it'd come down to driver skill, so why would his car have to be better than a V8 Supercar just to beat an M3?:odd: You're making some ludicrous claims of your own there (suggesting an M3 handles better than a V8 SC, because that's how it looks ;)).

Indeed. His claim is foolish. That doesn't give you free reign to call him a fool.
Yeah, that should be left to me.

I had to pay a pretty penny to purchase the rights to do that from the original rights holder.

I might be mistaken here, but Mafia_Boy didn't say anywhere that an M3 is better than a V8 Supercar.

He might not have worded it particularly well, but as far as I can see he was just using a V8 Supercar, like an M3, as another example of something that's bloody quick that the Falcon on the previous page probably isn't quicker than.

I know national pride is at stake whenever anything ever gets compared to the only two Australian cars the rest of the world has heard of, but sometimes I think the defense mechanism is set a little too strong...

Yeah I don't know, it's quite a sizeable performance gap from a road car to a race car to use both as examples compared to this same Falcon. If that's worded incorrectly to how he intended, then I don't know how exactly to take it.:boggled::sly:

Though it's off-topic, you should see the amount of people that pop up in galleries and race reports in the GT4 forum whenever a Holden appears.

EXACTLY. I said if this guy can beat an M3, then he might aswell say that he can take that same Falcon and race Lowndes and the V8 SC boys and beat them senseless around the curves. ;) Both we know is not true. :)

You take it the way I give it to you. :P Umm, that sounded wrong..... :embarrassed:

Famine, I can most definitely call him a fool, for he is just that. Why am I saying that, because of this definition.
1. One who is deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding.
Now I can definitely say he lacks judgment, sense or understanding of the claims he's made, so YES, he IS a fool!!
You are going off this meaning, I can tell.....
8.A mentally deficient person; an idiot.
That bit maybe true too, but it wasn't what I was meaning. :) I was trying to stay with point 1.

:lol::lol::lol: That's cold. :P

But in fairness, he's only doing to the others what Rick Kelly did to him to win the championship a couple of years back. ;)

No, you can't.

No, you can't. Any questions?
I thought the peeps fifty pages ago came to a good conclusion regarding this.
Besides, isn't poking fun at individual users against the rules of this site?
So is distributing false information, so it cancels eachother out quite nicely.
And we would've gooten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling Yorkshirers.

Poking fun at what they say is fine.

Insulting them for it is not fine.

No, you can't.

Any questions?

I was going to have one, but to save my infraction points I'll just keep quiet.

But, to make it definitive, let's just take the F word out and remove it all from that part. But I will maintain at the lack of understanding or sense of the claim being made here. XE Falcon > M3 = Fail.

Alright guys, here's a new one. Now while this thread does pertain to real life boasts, I'm mentioning this because I think that this one from the GT4 forum does achieve a ludicrous claim in it's own merit. From the following thread:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=118166

Post #38 is where it got interesting with the quote from granturismohero:

Escudo's a great car. I could pretty much win any race with that car.

:odd:

I've already called him out in the thread asking for proof that he could achieve this feat in races from Special Conditions (Chamonix, Citta Di Aria & George V Paris....all on Hard) to Super Speedway Enduro to the Nurburgring 24hr race. He says he can't do it because he doesn't have his GT4 disk at the moment but I'll leave it to you guys to discuss it (especially the A-spec masters), so the question is from me.....could this actually be done??? If it can, please do it and supply us with video proof because at the moment I surely don't believe it AT ALL and won't believe it until I see someone actually achieve this for real.

Here's your chance to make me eat humble pie people. I'm sitting at the table and have the knife & fork ready to eat.:D

You would need THE best instinct to get on the throttle at exactly the right time to counter the turbo lag (IIRC).

Oh sure M_B, I'll just go ahead and do the N-ring 24hrs right now to prove it - all while taping of course

On a serious point, I think it was an off the back of the hand comment - but nonetheless, "bluff".👍

Thanks you, but I'm still rather interested to know how lighting and contrast made it impossible to put a cardboard sign with a message written on it in your photo?

Keep in mind all I have said before when you answer.

Scaff

It looked in the photo preview and the sign was just a white square so I just deleted the pic on the camera.

Probably woulda worked after seeing how other pics have came out of it.

So basically you claim it was down to lighting and contrast when in reality you don't actually know how they work in a photographic context at all.

To be honest this is a rather worrying trend you are displaying, posting in a manner in which you try and suggest you know about a subject, but once questioned it all falls apart.

Please keep in mind that the depth of knowledge and range of subjects members know a great deal about here at GT Planet is vast, you will not 'blag' your way around a subject here at all and most likely will get caught out quickly.
