I've done a little bit of online racing against GTP_ENEGRIYA. I'm waaaayyyy of the pace. I don't play Ferrari Challenge very often because of all the competitions I do on GT5P.

I hope you'll join us more often mad - seems to be possible to co-ordinate times with OZ & eastern N.A. Nothing against GT5P, but don't you feel you've "bin there, done that"? The racing in GT5P has reached crazy levels of perfection, because of the endless repetition of the same few tracks. I think FC offers a much more varied & unpredictable online racing experience.

Yeah I'll be on with GT Niehder along with waynejones and posibley Little Jobbie, look for a lobby names Herreward or send us a friends request.

That is very true, happened for me. However the online is somewhat weird at times. Seems that when 2 cars are close the lag is bothersome and the sound gets a little funky. Is this just an isolated thing or fairly normal?

Its what we've had to get used to with FC unfortunately. Not too bad sometimes.

I'm racing for sure tonight, if anyone sees this i dont have a mic and dont want to ruin anyones game, but i REALLY would like to race the 360GT tonight. Only of course if everyone involved has it. If not i'm not fussed. i'll be there.

As a side note - has anyone ever complete a TT and then the time not show up?! I am very annoyed. Last night i did a great time with the 365GT/b at Mugello with all aids off and no line and it didnt show. Worse still, i went back into TT and had another ago and improved slightly again and this time was ignored aswell :( Whats that about? In case your interested the time was 2.19.70. I was quite happy with that from the car. BTW anyone who hasn't already should drive this car, it's slow and sloppy but the engine noise is gorgeous and the drifting is brill.

And so speeketh jjaisli as he utter the 2 words that crushed the very soul of danjama, a silent scream was heard accross europe............Our condolences go out to the family and friends.

Mostly, my times have been recorded, sometimes quite quickly. But there have definitely been some occasions where they haven't been. :indiff:

Ok i have looked finally and it seems that it has recorded my second fastest time but not the fastest, it's only 6 tenths difference but just very weird....

Please add me to you PSN list as well
PSN: aracefan

Now, I'm a race fan - doesn't necessarily mean that I am a great driver. I picked up Ferrari Challenge back when it came out and didn't play much (a buddy of mine also got it and we did maybe 5 online races with it), but put it in last night and had a very enjoyable time. Some of the tracks I know - some not so much. :)

I opened up 5 or 6 cars last night and earned some trophy's, don't remember exactly for what, but started to really like the game. I even turned all assists off and felt like the cars were a bit easier to drive w/out them. I did however leave the race line on as I don't know some of the tracks "well enough" to hit my braking points. Anyway, add me to your list if your so inclined and if you see me on - shoot me an invite.

I've bought this game yesterday, just 29€ so I though it could be a great alternative while waiting for GRAN TURISMO 5.

The game is good, the physics are..... so different from the GRAN TURISMO 5 ones. I reminds me a bit from GTR2 but no exactly that too. I tried to select all assists off from the 2nd race I did, and since that I've been always driving without them, but the only one that I still need is the brake/throtle line since I don't know many of these circuits yet.

It's a so... quiet game. I mean... on GT5P I can't control the car with the DUAL SHOCK 3 on every turn if the TCS is 0 and the ABS is 0. Here, with all those Off the F430 is easy (if you don't brake late, of course). I should try it with my G25, I didn't have it on the table. One thing I don't like about it, is that the AI seems to be bad... all the cars tries to be on the line even if there's a car there already, so they commit accidents without reasons.

The game is strange... I see cards... no boxes but a limited config. for the mechanics of the cars... and the most strange is the online. Few minutes ago I tried to join any online match and there's no one created. I tried with different filters configurations, and without any specific thing... and always a message of zero matches is shown. No one play this game online?

Hi Aero-R! A few notes about your post:

1 - FC is very controller-friendly, much more than GT5P. However, controller users have a serious setback. When the car understeers, the front wheels have an auto-correct implemented that takes over whatever you are doing. What happens in that situation is that, even if you are steering as much as you can, the front wheels will straighten (sp?) what the game feels is "right" for them to regain grip. This makes precisely timed braking very important and therefore I think controller users are seriously handicapped if the "racing line - braking zones" isn't used, at least until they know the tracks and the braking distances for all cars (they vary a lot from car to car).

2 - Try the game with the G25. It's a completely different experience, FC has the best FFB implementation I know, it really gives you physical feedback of what's happening with the car. There's a deadzone in the center, but set FFB to "High" and it will be minimum. You'll have to get used to it anyway, but a 1000+ kgs car with slicks isn't supposed to have a "light" effortless steering when driven to its limit.

3 - Yes, AI drivers are morons, I think this game's devs based their coding on what they experienced in GT5P online. They're a bunch of punters, brake-checkers, and all, but with your GT5P experience you'll deal with them fine ;). A few clues:
a) If you are closely behind before a corner, they'll duck to the inside and brake hard. Just keep the momentum and go around the outside, they won't try to punt you there, as a GT5P cheater would;
b) If you are in front and, before a corner, you see one AI right behind you, give him room, the guys get so blind they'll miss the braking and will just go off in the corner. If you are in their path they'll take you with them.

3 - About the online, I think you'll find several rooms opened mostly at night. Search rooms with all options set to "Any". One problem you can have is that you won't see rooms where people are racing with cars you don't have yet unlocked (and bought). So, invest some time in offline mode, only way to unlock cars and circuits.

Good luck, hope to meet you online soon! 👍

Hey Hun, nice to see you again. Thanks for your tips !

As you said, the reason about zero online matches could be the cars, yeah, because I remember I selected all to "any" except the car, because the only one I've is the F430 that comes for the first races, so yeah I'll have to do a bit of single career before.

Hope to see all of you there on the road with the time. I'm using my main ID for the game, I don't use the GTP one since I want to apply the FC trophies to my main account. See you there !

Had an odd experience last night. Several of us were trying to form up in a lobby and every time we went to start a race, 2-4 out of the 5-7 people in the lobby were being ejected, even before the Sync process was complete. We tried several different hosts and ultimately came to the conclusion that some people are simply 'incompatible' with each other, for lack of a better term.

There others affected but in particular GTP_Hun realized every time WayneJones entered a lobby, they would both be ejected in less than 30 seconds. But I know there were others who were being kicked out as well. There were just too many people coming and going for me to remember specific names. It's the first time I ever experienced this particular problem, at least where it was so obvious.

The odd thing is, the lobby was otherwise stable and I witnessed some of the most stable, stutter and lag free racing I've ever experienced.

Did anybody else ever experience this?

It wasn't the first time I experienced this, but this time it became clear that some "incompatibility between 2 players (between their connections) happens.

I remember perfectly one night, maybe in December, when it became clear that me, Biggles and Energiya couldn't be in a lobby at the same time, no matter who was hosting. Every time the "third" of us entered, the lobby would collapse. Back then, I just thought that the game couldn't handle a lobby where there is one euro, one north american and one australian.

However, this isn't the case every time, I already did many races with Energiya and several other players, north americans included. So, every night is a surprise in FC online's lobby stability, for the worst reasons possible 👎

Well one thing that's odd is when we were running Infineon, WayneJones came into the Lobby on the last lap and shortly after you and he were both ejected from the Lobby. We'll just have to call him your arch nemisis from now on . But at that point, he was only sitting in the lobby and wasn't synced and racing with the rest of us. So I'm a little perplexed at how this could happen. Perhaps it has something to do with the mics and the overall bandwidth but it still doesn't explain why only you were effected at that point.

The more problems that arise the more confusing it becomes. I almost don't even have the energy anymore to mention this on the Eutechnyx boards as it seems there is little to no more active development on FC. We just have to hope that they really have a handle on all these issues with SCC.

I am wondering if it wouldn't be helpful to turn all the mics off during the actual racing - this is something I normally do anyway.

In any case, although I have had some successful 6 & 7 car races, I think that the optimum number is 4. IMO a grid of 4 well-matched racers gives the best chance for having a good, close & problem-free race in FC.

Last night wasn't a question of lobby size, Biggles. At one point, it was only danjama jjasili, wayne and me. If I got to the lobby before wayne, when he arrived I (or we both, not sure) would almost immediately lose connection. If wayne got there first, when I arrived either I was kicked out or we both were.

I had my suspicion about it, and even told about it in the lobby. then wayne didn't show up for a few races and I was alright. Meanwhile, other racers showed up and we had no problems. Then, in a race at Infineon, we were 4 players (jjaisli, danjama, FLASH48 and me), and I see the message that wayne had join the lobby. I still could hear jjaisli (I think it was him) saying "Mario, now we'll see if your theory is right" (at least, that's what I understood. And then ... I start seeing that cascade of meassages (x has retired, x has leftthe lobby, y has retired, y has lkeft the lobby, etc.) and I stay alone on the track. So I quit the race, quit the lobby (no one was there) and when I look in the lobbies list, there it was, with 3 players in it. I was "warped" alone to another Infineon.

Yeah, well we all know the Aussies are trouble-makers! ;)

Nice to see Flash showing up online. Maybe DaddyVDUB will put in an appearance soon...

 Yeah that was me. But when I said it I was only kidding--I wasn't really expecting it to happen because I didn't think WayneJones sitting in the lobby while we were in the race would do anything. It's really bizzare. In the beginning (in Danjama's lobby) other people were getting kicked out when WayneJones joined as well. I think New_Soul was there and a few others who I can't remember now. But I didn't put it together until you made the connection.

Either way it was a 'graceful' exit for you. The 512M in the wet at Infineon with no assists. And the guy who said "Screw this--I'm just going to drive around slowly in 2nd gear" ends up finishing in front of both of us. :embarrassed: LOL

Indeed, the god of racing gamers showed his infinite mercy on me and thought: "It's 3 AM where he lives, this guy is tired, sleepy, driving like crap and should go to bed". So, he sent me an angel (wayne), to put me out of my miserable race and to effectively put an end to my racing last night!

You were definetely right Hun. Ferrari Challenge has the best wheel feeling of a racing game. I should say I've a G25 since lot of months but only used it 1 day because I don't have the place to set it and I don't have a cockpit, so the feeling was quite uncorfortable the 1st day I bought it and I was shocked.

I tried it today, as you suggested me, with Ferrari Challenge. I didn't won the race, but I was doing it right. Unfortunately, since I don't have a cockpit and the chair I was using has wheels, I was in a very bad position, but it felts amazing. I'm looking for any Sparco cockpit or do something cheap like the ones on the thread here in GTP, because Playseats are not distributed where I live I think.

And talking about the online, 2 days ago I tried at night, with all the filters in "any", and not results. But I've seen matches other times in other days, so... Ferrari Challenge definetely has a bad online system eh.

lol it was pretty funny. TBH i dont even think its a problem with them microphones using bandwidth because we all had them on during races and were laughing and talking alot of the time....maybe its just random. I bet you and wayne could race together tonight.

Anyway i think we had some pretty good races, Infineon was just ridiculously hard haha and JJ i think you was actually pretty fast at misano in 512 until you made some mistakes near the last lap, and you just lost your rhythm naturally. I love the car though it is soooo fast and brakes so well. How strange it was to go from that from the 550m.

Well you do have a point about the mics and bandwidth. And considering how much 'chatter' was going on amongst us, I was so impressed with how smooth the play was. Unless we were running <0.5 seconds apart it was almost AI like. PitreQC3 and I were running neck and neck for most of the race at Montreal and there was no lag or stuttering at all on my end. I wish it was always like that.

I really do like the 512M and I like the layout of Misano but I just can't seem to get it right. It's a bad combo for me. I think I just have a problem hitting the curbs. I was trying not to but ike a moth to flame, I can't seem to avoid them. :)

Infineon in the wet with that car was pure torture. After the first lap I gave up 'racing' you and was was just trying to set a quick lap. After the 2nd lap I gave up on that too and was just trying to drive without hitting anything. And I don't even remember how I got in front of GTP_Hun!

Well, I can explain that: I started the race in the last position, by the end of the first lap I was in 1st, after I killed danjama hitting him at the end of the back straight (I had hit the pit wall and I smashed his car against it even more :D ). I kept the lead for one or two laps and then it was my turn to hit the pit wall "head on" :dopey: after that, I was so mad at myself (and so clumsy) that I didn't manage to get the car straight for a long time (the wheel bouncing, the car spinning, I couldn't even tell which paddle was for upshift and what was for downshift, and I tell you, remembering it now I even think it was funny to accelerate while in reverse, thinking that I had 1st gear already engaged ).

So ... I was already in last place, on "cruising" mode, when wayne showed up to put a graceful end to that race ;)

You know, at times like these I really wish you could watch and save the replays from on-line races. Although watching this particular episode would be embarrassing beyond belief. On the second lap, I went off after the 'dip' (turn 3 I think). I spun and ALSO put myself head-on, right into the wall. I was using the H pattern shifter and spent about 4-5 full seconds fumbling around trying to get it into reverse. When I finally had it and backed onto the track and put it in 1st, I was so annoyed and anxious at having lost so much time that I gave way too much gas, spun and ended up against the wall in EXACTLY the same position I was before. :ouch::dunce:  In that order. Hun, this race wasn't good for our Ch'i. ;)

I actually remember passing you near the pit wall but I could have sworn you got by me again. (It wasn't the only time I went off). But I guess it must have been Flash48 instead--cruising around in 2nd gear. :)

BTW, I had kind of stupid moment at Mugello in that car too. (DAMN curbs again). I remember spinning at high speed and TWICE saw you coming toward me through the windshield (once slightly closer than the other) but I think you managed to get by me safely.
