...we can just talk him into buying a wheel & then, presto, RS Syndrome! :ill:

I wondered about RS. I was with him a few days ago and knew he was bloody quick. But rather than surging ahead he was dropping behind at an enormous rate on every track. I think in Montreal we almost lapped him. Then suddenly he had that "I can't drive anymore" note pop up next to his on-line avatar. The suggestions from others in the lobby were that he was either tired or drunk. Perhaps both were also true  but it kind of makes sense now.

I've said it before but I'm deeply impressed that people can drive (and quickly) with the controller. But I guess like anything else, it's just a matter of getting used to it.

[latin-american accent]Tony Montana is a low-life nothing POS![/latin-american accent]

Think of me as a mix between Pancho Villa and Juan Pablo Montoya!

jj, FC is very controller-friendly. With two major setbacks: 1) the autosteering feature while cornering that makes accurate braking even more critical; 2) The game loses half the fun and the immersive feeling the FFB implementation gives to it.

Don't get this guy angry!

Subconsciously, every time I race him from now on, I'll be seeing Pancho Villa's face in the car next to me. :) And if we make contact I'll be waiting for the shout on the com that I broke his head. :P

EDIT: Hey, do you think if I emailed that photo to Bruno72 he could make Hun a vinyl for his side window that looks like that face?

Well, first of all as hun said it is a pleasure racing with all of you 👍

That first chicane at Monza - What a mess! :dopey: Didn't think it could get worse until Redwood came along!!! :scared: I also remember the view at the hairpin haha amazing, about 5 550's in a scatter in front of me, how do i get out of this! is what i thought!! Brilliant times, makes me love the game even more. The lobby was as full as ive seen. I find it hardly comforting that i did well in this car, although was pleased that i achieved a couple of best lap times! :sly: But i dont think it's anything to be proud of that i do well in it, i would much rather be competitive in the 360GT or 250GTO....

I'm using a controller (sixaxis) and have to say it's one of the best games i have played with it, the steering and throttle is at the perfect sensitivity, i can actually apply incriments of throttle and steering. I cant even do this in GT5p with the controller.

As for energyia he is very fast, and he uses automatic so i have no idea whether this would help him or make it harder, but I really think he should learn manual though as it adds 90% more fun and depth to the races. Might also give us a chance while he learns :) Hun, ill just say that i did not approve of you pulling over at mont tremblant i think and letting everyone pass, thats not the spirit of the game mate even if you think you will hold everyone up a bit. I dont think any of us would mind that even if we did believe it :odd:

Now for a bit of key info on the 550, that may or may not give us an insight into why it is the way it is:

It has a steel frame with a 2 door Aluminium body meaning the car weighs in at 3,726LBS. What does this translate to in KG as i'm in the UK...it sounds heavy though. The engine is a 5.5l V12 of Alu construction including the block and produces 485bhp, breathing controlled by 4 OHC's.

Apparently the tyres were specially developed for the car....The brakes are vented discs all round. Suspension consists of double wishbones/springs and telescopic shocks on each corner meaning it should not be sloppy. The way the car drives in FC suggests that the chassic technology is not up to speed with the power/torque of the engine. However there is nothing to suggest this from the facts above. It also has a normal manual gearbox so there is nothing to explain the lurch forward when shifting down or the sluggishness when shifting up. Maybe they have modelled the clutch engage/disengage times with the slowest/worst driver they could find.

The only untoward thing about this car is it's weight, which isn't even that bad. Source: Five-view series, Ultimate Performance Cars, Craig Cheetham. I'm not sure of the cource credibility but it seems pretty bang on with other cars in the book.

Edit: Just found that the weight converts to just over 1700Kg which does not seem at all excessive. In fact the power to weight ratio is quite good.

When do you usually play online?

I bought the game more or less 10 days ago and I haven't had much time to play it because of my university tests, but the time I had, has been focused on the single player mode in order to obtain cars & circuits. I don't have all the cars, but most of the circuits yes. Any of you is creating always an online match or something in order to meet you?

I always play with all assist off except the race line because of the little amount of time I have had with the game (I simply don't have yet in my memory the line into all the courses). I hope to see you online there just to enjoy a few races, even if I'm not at a competitive level for you.

I'm just glad (after reading all this) that I gave that ENERGIYA bloke a hard time at infineon in the 512... AND got the fastest lap! :)

I'll jump on tonight if anyone feels like a race... I'm going to the pub for happy hour though so I might be a little "wayward".

@ peter_vod69 & Aero-R

Please feel free to join the FC "ladder" if you're interested. The good thing about FC online is it is quite a "social event" because of the chat option, & even if you are slower than everyone else, you will still have the opportunity to practice the tracks & build your experience. It's a good idea to make "friends request" so that you will be able to see who else is online with you & meet up with them for racing.

I'm just thinking the time difference between Canada and here might be a problem, but I'll give it a shot, I've already added dan's pyjamas or whatever his name is. :)

Days ago I gave it a try but it found the rules a bit hard to understand with my level of english, and I was afraid of commit an error. I even don't know what "ladder" means on english, but I'll try to give it a few reads more then and see if I get the point. And yes, I've the official headset, so you could hear a guy from the Canary Islands talking on "some kind" of english :dopey:

EDIT: Okey, after a few tries I've understood a bit more, it's a nice idea in fact that thing about the ladder/positions ! =], but I'm afraid I won't be able to look the thread once in a week to take care of that possibility to be obliged to accept to be challenged by one person one in a week. I'm also confused too about how it's done: is it a online race with only those 2 guys (the challenger and the challenged) or is it just a time attack for each one of them and they later put their times on the thread for each one of the 7 circuits?

Hi Aero-R, "ladder" means "escada" (I think it's the same word in both our languages). Biggles has a tentative translation of the rules to spanish, made by me, probably with lots of mistakes. I erased the PM so I can't send it to you but he can (if he didn't erase it also).
Don't worry about your own availability this thing works in a very easy way, just do a few laps at Mugello with the F430 and all assists off. Then your time will put you somewhere on the "ladder". Challenges are online races (7 races back to back) between 2 people. Challenger (el desafiador) picks 4 tracks. Challenged (el desafiado) picks 3. Winner is the one that gets more victories (logical, isn't it? :D ).

I have removed the "times" from the ladder. Anyone joining now will have to start at the bottom & work their way up. However, I don't think anyone should worry to much about not being able always to respond to a challenge. The worst that can happen is that you will move down the ladder as other people jump ahead of you.

Other rule that you should mention Hun, is that the challenger proposes 3 possible cars to use - the challenged racer chooses one of these cars to race with.

Online coming alive, yeah right. i just tried to do a online races & no one is playing. i waited for 3 hours & ended up doing only 1 race.

WERE IS EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!!

The field is just clearing way for you and Sarrinen. ;)

I wasn't able to log on at all last night (early morning for you). Just busy at work. But I will try and get on tonight and over the weekend.

At night (E.S.T.) it's just ENERGIYA & me... :indiff:

(Of course, this gives E a huge advantage as he's always racing a day ahead of me! :dopey:)

Yeah, but since you're one day ahead that means that even if you end the race 1 minute behind, you're still 23 hours and 59 minutes ahead :dopey:

I think you just solved the mystery of why the leaderboards are so screwed up. :odd:;)

Thanks for your support mate.

I've finished today my university tests, so I'll give it a try I think.

Although I have had quite a few excellent races in GT5P over the months, there's no question that I have had many, many more exciting, close races in FC than GT5P. This has inspired me to try & provoke more interest among other GTPlanet members who seem to be stuck in a GT5P rut.

However, the sad truth is, in spite of my best efforts, online participation in FC is still pitifully low among GTPlanet members. This is particularly true of N.A. members - a number of new racers seem to have picked up FC recently, but nearly all of them are PAL users. For the most part the lobbies are empty of N.A. racers & the only racer I regularly encounter at night is the Man from Tomorrow - ENERGIYA.
