Oookay, who is up for another tuner challenge?

Yeah I realised that flaw in my argument after I made that comment. If it's tuned as well it will be on for a good mark.

Tuning has nothing to do with these comps since we lost CLS, it's all about the car you use.

No, no it isn't.

My RWD entry is very handicapped yet seems to be doing decently.

Extreme light weight + 70s tire width + 70s suspension design + 300hp = a hell of a handful.

Whereas your 'vette has everything going for it... Capable suspension design, decently fat tires, enough weight to hold power but not ridiculously lardy, decently wide track, longish wheelbase helping high speed stability...

💡

Off to fool with a GS now.

Forgive my ignorance but what is CLS.

CraftyLandShark, one of the greatest guys ever to have gotten involved in the GT4 Tuning subforum.., 👍👍

still no word from my RX-8?? well, I understand, the RWD category has more than 10 entries..,

Yep, as I said, everything to do with car choice. Obviously when I built the Grand Sport ages ago, I had speed in mind, and the awesomeness of a supercharger in mind. Yes this overpowered the tyres, but what road car out there today doesn't do that to itself? My car choice was not "just the GS", it was a 500+hp supercharged Grand Sport. It wouldn't matter if the setup was good or not, my car choice doomed me from the start.
Not that I really care.:P If I still played GT4 I could easily have entered a near standard power Grand Sport with a wing or something crazy.

And you would've gotten bombed for the excessive power levels under CLS as well. ;)

And you would've gotten bombed for the excessive power levels under CLS as well. ;)

Not as badly.:P:P:P There would have been an improvement over stock score which involves the judgement of the actual tuning. Of course, my car might not suit Parnelli's driving style, didn't someone else judge my Corvette as well and rated it more or less with everyone else before deciding he needed to re-do everything?

Bro, CLS would've chopped your car to bits. You know it, I know it. ;) He has a chair comfortably warm at GME if he ever comes back to GTP. He was the one who was going to start a garage with me last year when he disappeared. Between him, I-Runner and myself, I think we could've made the ultimate team for all facets of GT4. :mischievous:

Actually I know he wouldn't have.:P CLS and I were closer than you think, and in case you had forgotten he was already a member for Aussie Tuners. If he ever comes back with a copy of GT5:P in his hands, there is no warm chair for him at TLD, that would imply we've let somebody else sit in his chair, no there is a chair reserved for him at TLD.:P

I didn't realise you could read my PM's with CLS about our little garage plans. ;) Seriously, CLS was 'poached' but you would've been the last to know this anyway once the garage launched. You may have put him in as part of AT but he wasn't affiliated with any one garage, that's why his tunes are still labelled in there with KC Motorsport. ;)

But that stuff with CLS is all in the past and the present is this:

PAULIE'S VETTE = 41!!

Bahahahahahahaha!! I thought you knew how to tune a RWD car. :P

For some odd reason my Rx-8 has been glossed over in favour of testing another car, too each his own I suppose. I can see you lurking down there PF, how's the judging going. Are you still torn about who's going to win it?

Well there you go, I never knew that about CLS.:)

I know how to tune RWD cars, but I also get a little crazy when I think "supercharger" and "V8" in the same sentence.:lol:

Sorry mate, when at work I can read a couple of threads and occasionally post. Obv can't test while working and have to fight w/ a 10yo for the PS2. You can imagine who wins.

RX-8 Blue has caused some friction here. I think we criticise the power but I'd have to check my notes for that. Maybe it's too fat? Can't remember. Most of the reviews are done but not written out.

Are you still torn about who's going to win it?

Mr Lawrence and I are arguing like nothing else. I'd estimate at least 8 of the 13 could be top- 5. We each made up alist of top 5 and only two cars in common. Yes this did cause some heated debate. Think I'm just gonna have to judge it myself and bash the **** out of him if he disagrees.

Sorry sorry sorry everyone for the holdup. Believe me it is not something I can fix, my last few GT4 sessions have started around 11pm so it's a bit tough. However, we have most of the scores and notes down, 'tis now a matter of finishing a few cars and putting down the notes. Almost had a blue over that bloody Supra '97.

Nah It's alright, take your time with it and all. And I wasn't complaing about you skipping over the baby blue RX-8, more Mr Bone who said he wanted to test the cars in order but then allows massive exceptions to his own rules. Not that I'm trying to attack Mr Bone, I'm just anxious too see where that little RX-8 came, I though it was pretty alright if you drove it a certain way but that's just me.

lol, good to see some heated argument over at your place.

To quote from ty00123 judging my car...
Here's the part that I couldn't STAND at all: the gearbox. Topped out at 120 mph. It literally drove me nuts, and it hurt the other scores in that I couldn't test it in any corners that I KNOW it could do faster than that in. Please, for the love of everything holy, fix it.

The gearbox is set low, but not THAT low. You just have to use the tranny trick some of us are familiar with... I remember it topping out around 240km/h last time. I'm only mentioning it because you marked me down for it, and I don't want others screwing up the same way 👍.

Macca mate, seems you've blown the gearing.

Gearing:

Note: set final to 5.500, then the auto to 1. Then set the rest.

1st: 2.476
2nd: 1.805
3rd: 1.391
4th: 1.118
5th: 0.950
6th: 0.823
Not a fast or slow gearbox, but it's particularly used on Midfield Raceway.

That's all you wrote down. No final to reset to = it stays at 5.500 = 120mph top out.

Really?? Woops... I guess I can't read my own writing... and i'm getting marked down for it  I forgot to put the separate final ratio in, obviously.

Somebody can put the dunce's cap on me, now. :dunce:

Seems my Supra is holding onto podium pretty well. Just like another black Supra I know of. :D

*looks at Parnelli's results* Thanks for that Parnelli bro, I got more feedback in that one judging post than I could've in 20 from some others. 👍

6th in a pick-up so far, I'll take that very nicely. :) I hope the other judging goes well.

And as usual, I'm bringing up the scoreboard as scored by the judges (Parnelli, ty00123 & PF) so everyone can see progress scores, etc. and I'm doing them as nicknames/shortened. :P

roj's Supra = 84 + 86 + 88 = 258pts.
Leo's MR2 = 96 + 90 + 85 = 271pts.
Macca's 350Z = 63 + 86 + 80 = 229pts.
Nuro's 300ZX = 67 + 57 + 79 = 203pts.
Paulie's Vette = 41 + 78 + 62 = 181pts.
adam's Cobra R = 54 + 71 + 77 = 202pts.
Vinnie's Red Devil = 78 + 93 + 96 = 267pts.
RJ's Purple Devil = 84 + 85 + 96 = 265pts.
d24/7's RX8-S = 91 + 85 + 97 = 273pts.
camry's RX8 Turbo = 58 + 76 + 84 = 218pts.
mafs' Hilux = 72 + 83 + 74 = 229pts.
berga's 300ZX = 34 + 71 + 39 = 144pts.
SHO's GT = 68 + 86 + 88 = 242pts.

All judging done.

My scores seem pretty consistant, just how I like it. 👍

Macca did well but it seems one judge wasnt too happy with the Z. Shame because otherwise we had quite equal scores! :D

wow, 91 points?? yeah baby :sly::sly: hmm, complaints about the LSD.., I had to set it a bit stronger than usual because the supercharger provides an instant boatload of torque, floor the gas mid-corner in sweepers while cranking up the steering to the limit will get you drifts, so I had to contain the extra wheelspin.., more scores please.., :)

@ Parnelli Bone -
And that's the thing about this car. Mistakes can be made. Braking points can be missed. Cornering adjustments blown. The RX-8 is a very forgiving car while stock anyways, but even with additional power (as tuned by D24/7), the car is still very forgiving. I have a feeling he took all this into consideration.

well yeah, at stock the RX-8 has great handling.., since I upped the power a great level, I wanted to maintain that good, comfortable handling while the car's pulling off high speeds.., 👍

It's still a speed bump for my Hilux. ;) I'd love to go you MR2 against Hilux in a lap time shootout on GVS just to prove it is a speed bump/mobile chicane. :P

Nice scores all the way through, you've got the lead.

Now to bribe the other 2 judges to give me both 100, then I win by 1pt.!!
