Amazing project! Its gonna look great when its done up! Keep Us posted, I love Vauxhall's / Opels and I have a Corsa kitted out in Irmscher bits...

Keep plugging away, man! It will look great. It's nice that you can still order new sheetmetal, be it NOS or repro. When I did my old Pontiac over 25 years ago, all the original cars had been crushed, but the reproduction houses like Year One weren't in business yet. So it has a lot of plastic mud in it, unfortunately.

Good luck and keep up the good work!

IT'S ALIVE,IT'S ALIIIIIVEEEE!!!
The engine is working, and it's working great, unfortunately i don't have any pictures since my camera batteries died, but i'm going to get a video clip in a week or two when i get home again.
Can't wait for the next weekend,i hope it's gonna rain :D

Good stuff mate! 👍

Look forward to the video clip. :)

SUCCESS!!! Well done! Hopefully, the tranny's not stuck, eh?

Nope, all good with the tranny, drove it F>B in the yard.

Anyway, got home today, and started to chat with my father about the car, somehow i mentioned the lights, and than heard him saying: Yeah,i forgot to tell you,one guy told me that he has some parts for Kadett C and that he wanted to give it or trash it,so i got a free pair of front and rear lights.

Also there is one C2 type blinker, that my father insisted to get one more so that we don't need to fill the fenders, but i yelled at him that i don't want C2 blah blah,he gave it up only when i said that the hood can't match :D

Double Score!!

Not only did you get that car torn down and back running yourself, you get free stuff too! You have good karma.

Not DCOE's but pair of DHLA's are waiting in the room for this car already a year or few :D

But they are going to wait for engine swap.

Yeah.. having two carbs on a 1.2 makes very little sense.

A pair of two barrels on a Datsun L18 or L20 might not be too bad. ;)

Actually two carbs are probably going on 1.2 engine, but this is quad carbs, that are waiting for 1.6

Anyway

Did some work today, please don't laugh, this was my first attempt of CO2 welding, and also had some problems with welder.

Cheers.

Contiuned and finished the upper part of the right side welding, did a stamp on stamp to make it stronger and also to fill the holes that i made during the welding :ouch::scared:

Got some new stuff,

Fiat/Lancia Twincam 1.6 8V.

And my cousin bought me this

Also bought Rekord 2.3TD rear diff, but i'm gonna keep my old rear axle probably,it has shorter ratios.

Fantastic to see this project coming along 👍

I'm glad to see that you won't be sticking some modern lump in there, the Fiat twincam is a great classic engine and should at least suit the character of the car, unlike a modern Opel/Vauxhall unit. Also glad to see you won't be "over-egging" it and have just gone for a 1.6 and not a massive engine. Some Weber carbs on it would finish it off nicely once it's in!

Good luck getting the front wings attached, I've heard pattern parts sometimes need a LOT of "persuasion" to fit properly because they're very rarely exactly the same shape as the original panels, so leave you with massive shutlines between the panels and doors, or the bonnet or whatever.

Don't know what you're planning to do looks wise, but I'd love to see it completely original outside with perhaps some period alloys and that's it. Liking the new oil/water/elec gauges 👍

Looking forward to seeing more!

I'm personally fan of high revving engines, and 2000cc has 20mm more stroke :D,plans for this are lightened and balanced components if/when i'm going to have money.Actually,a bit at the time.
Since i don't like opel engines(except C20XE that is too expensive and EFI... :P) i'm going for Fiat DOHC that i most like. It's cheap,it's easy to convert with some Fiat/Lada bits, and even Guy Croft said that this car is tailor made for this conversion.
I already prepared twin Dellorto 40's for this engine, but seems to me i'm gonna put one DMTR Weber so i can drive the frikkin car, since the fuel is too much expensive nowadays.

The looks,hm.
Plans are Rollcage,Bucket seat(s),harness, rear seat out for interior.
For exterior, fix the rust, lowering, widened steelies,175/50-13 tires and so on.

I unfortunately have big plans, that i just now managed to realize one step at the time, since i'm in high school, and now on summer vacation,i was working at my cousin in his Locksmith shop for a month so i can buy some stuff.

I will buy alloys when i get the money for it,since i have to import them from Germany, you can't find good wheels in Croatia for sale unfortunately.

Plans are some 4 spoke 13" like Revo,BWA,Ronal Kleeblatt or simmilar.

Cheers.

I'm sorry, but it's kinda hard for me to understand your post since i'm not familiar with the expression?

Well, searc "over 9000" from youtube, then you'll understand. in this context it means if you're going to make your engine a high-revving screamer.

Well,i didn't exactly chose this counter,but it's kinda ok for a free one :D

The plans are lightweight internals, when and if i had the money.

A 9000 RPM reving Opel Kadett.... that would be one of the coolest things ever... probably followed by one of the biggest explosions ever!

NASCAR 5.8 does 9000. You could probably build up this motor to wind like that, too.

I...might be afraid to try. 7,000's probably pushing it with a motor that old. 9,000, you'd have to put a LOT of money into it.

*grin*
glad to see someone sticking with a rebuild project. I think I've had vehicles in worse shape, here.

are you gonna go for a body respray as well? looks like it needs a quick stripdown to me, but you prob can't afford that kind of thing.

I will do respray when i finish the bodywork,i have all the equipment in my garage, only thing missing is thermo respray chamber.

We had few Yugo's in the family, that were this spec.
Lightened and balanced flywheel,port/polish,DCNF/DMTR/DCOE Webers or DHLA Dell'ortos,machined/lightened crankshaft, higher duration and lift camshafts,hi-comp pistons and so on... that were capable of doing 9000 without any problems. All engines manufactured 1970's-1990's.

Here is example,Dejan Vujasin's yugo from Bosnia.
Lightened and Balanced Flywheel/Crankshaft,Catcams Camshafts 324° duration (can't remember the lift),Sybele EFI on ITB's made of DCNF Webers,PBS 4-1 exhaust manifold and so on,it goes to 11000 RPM.

This SOHC engine is designed and not much changed from 1960's.
You can get even more from the DOHC engine, read Guy Croft's book on Fiat twincams.

Also, here is my weekend fun car

You are right,i shouldn't even install the engine in it,it could explode.
