I'm cleaning it mostly with anti rust before painting, that's why it's white sheet metal on few pictures.

Trunk finished from upper side, front left pillar finished, right pillar started.

Old exhaust port for comparison.

A lot of more work on exhaust ports

Bought Schroth Rallye 3 ASM few days ago.

Also bought Sparco Sprint Junior, needs work though.

Chose potential valves for this head, 35.5mm intake and 30.5 exhaust instead of std 32 intake and 26 exhaust, also finished the 2 of exhaust ports in boundaries of my tools and possibilities.

Not a bad polish job on the ports. Are you going to "cc" it ? Have it milled ? Are you going to port match the runners to the intake manifold as well ? The oversize valves are looking good. 👍

Engine is not going to be bored(in any sense ),there is a lot of more to polish, since it's not aluminum head but gray iron.Exhaust is not ported, only polished since it's for NA application and velocity loss in exhaust is unacceptable because of back pressure and loss of CFM in the intake.Intake manifold needs to be custom made since i will be using Weber DMTR 32/32 on this small engine, intake runners will be ported and not polished because liquefaction of the gasoline in the mixture. Also the chambers will be optimized for swirl when i get the valve seats done(gotta pay for that, and don't have any money at the moment). Exhaust manifold is staying stock for the moment, not worth to spend money on this engine since i'm going to put the DOHC when i finish it.
Also valves needs to be shortened and optimized for flow, also lightened a bit.
Valve lifters are also going to be lightened, and probably added double valve springs from fiat sohc.

there's very few guys over here in the states that would take the time your taking to not only put the body back together completely, but do a full recondition on a 4 cylinder engine. (they only do that with V8 muscle cars, here)
there are distinct nicks in the head surface on the third chamber from the left, and dark spots on the second that look like very deep gouges (it's hard to tell from the pic) were you planning on machining the head down, or trying some sort of fill in procedure?
also, your welds on that one section look a lot coarser than usual...is that because of all that rotted-out material?

I'm not doing full recondition, too much money for this engine, maybe on 1.6,will see.
Head will probably be machined when i get the seats and quench zone modified, the head is in good condition actually.

About the welds, dunno what you think of,there is rust everywhere, especially surface rust on the pillars that is impossible to grind down any more than this.

Bought new doorstep panels

Too bad 4th is missing, will serve for rear axle and fun until i get hold on new ones.

15€ for 3 "killed" used tires is good deal!

That size tires (175/50-13) is dificult to find and a little expansive, but are very cool in some europeans old school cars.

👍

Rev:since when do four-bangers sound that cool? must be what the rice-boys do to the few fours that still exist up here. they simply scream instead of sounding proper.

That's why i bought them, new ones are around 70€ a piece, and will wait for a while till i get the money.

Hey man, just thought this might go appreciated here :)

Seen it already, but nice to see it again. 👍

Check out the 2.4 CIH sound on carbs

oh dear.. was that done on purpose, or did the corrosion finally get the upper hand of the tired metal?

On purpose, don't have money to build both cars, and my parents really pushed on me to get rid of the junk :)

well...don't you know a guy with a trailer or something that'll fit the whole thing? or does the scrapyard require that you cut it up beforehand?

Yeah,that's the plan hehe.
But it will wait till i build a polishing machine.

Holy junkyard find batman.
Found Cromodora Abarth CD30 5.5x13 ET7 with Abarth center cap, unfortunately only one.
But it's kinda extreme rare wheel here,so i just had to buy it.
Also one Carmona wheel for my dad spare, since he has one set on his Uno.
