My proposed version of the rule would allow one to wash out and keep control of the car without officials having to be able to see the car misbehaving. You know how sometimes you go through a corner and the car just feels weird, so you wash it out on exit just a little more so as to make sure you don't lose it? It would help with situations like that, giving you a little more leeway to ensure you don't go around. It would also reduce the amount of penalties.

That is fair until it becomes consistent. If a driver constantly has to wash out due to the car having a wierd snap or something like that, it just means they are pushing through that corner too hard and should adjust that.

But does Consistent mean every lap? every 5 laps? every 10?
 
okay i will wash out wide on the 3rd chicane at monza going over half a car over the line every 4 laps, will i get a penalty?
 
As long as you keep 2 tyres inside track limits you will be fine, not the curb, I really mean the road.

Depends on if you end up with more than two wheels off the painted strip. That wouldn't be "cutting" the chicane technically, so I see no problem. It's quite hard to keep the car from doing it naturally anyway.

Yes. Just as long as you had all fours back on the track before they end, you wouldn't incur a penalty.

I'd like to see it where there is less interpretation of the ruling where it comes to track limits like:
  • 4 tyres on the track at all times.
  • Curbs also count as track.
  • White line outlines the limit of the track where there is no curbing.
  • 2 instances count as a penalty the 3rd 15 second penalty, + 15 seconds for any more occurrences where the driver doesn't release the gas for a second or more.

This varies depending on the club/series you race in too.

For example I am more used to the white lines being the track limit everywhere (including sections with kerbing), and 2 wheels is the max allowed off-track.
