I'm in the champ lounge, destroying the gearbox on the CLK.

Might get interrupted though. Someone can't sleep!

I'll throw my hat in the ring, as a reserve if there is such a thing. Work is kicking me in the 🤬 daily and I know I'm on call at least for the first race but I'll do my best to make both. If you fill up fast I'll step aside for anyone who is committed to making it.

Just watched a BBC documentary about Sir Sterling Moss, by Sir Patrick Stewart. If you have access to BBC iPlayer, I thoroughly recommend it.

Apologies for the off-topic post.

Good to see you Johnny. Hopefully all that working means fatter pockets!!!

I don't think the BBC iPlayer works for people on this side of the pond. At least not on eye-devices. :( Maybe it can be found ok their website or youtube, I'd love to see it.

EDIT: I should be getting a MacBook Pro in the next couple days, perhaps the iPlayer will work on it. :sly:

DOUBLE EDIT: And here it is! But unfortunately the BBC ayePlayer doesn't work for people outside of the UK. :( I think I found it on youtube though. On the "similar videos" tab it shows one on Jackie Stewart as well.

Anyone wishing for a car with tons of grip and probably substantially better tire wear, the Merc is the way to go, although you have to give up quite a bit of HP to get the enhanced grip. It was able to run the same lap times on GP/D as the other BMW, Opel and RX7 give or take a few tenths, not sure about the full track. It's far and away the grippiest of the bunch (stock downforce is much higher) and the easiest to drive as a result. Probably much more stable late in the run due to lower overall tire wear (more downforce = less tire wear all else the same) and probably less rear wheel spin due to the lower HP.

I've also noticed since the 2.09 update, a significant improvement in grip around the 5-7 lap distance. Not unusual to knock nearly a second off once you get to there, so keep that in mind when you see laptimes posted here.

For normal people like me we're seeing 2:05-2:06. The Rocketmen are down in the 2:03's.[/QUOTE]

sweet as mate, this 575PP mark is right on the money, I may wait until race day to see what the rest of the field brings and go with something not so common,

Most cars I find average in the low 2'03s, with all but maybe one or two capable of 2'02s. One car I was .544 ahead of a 2'03.063 lap time at the final checkpoint, but tossed it away in the chicane. That was not the RX-7. There is a 2'01 hero run possible in at least two of the cars, but I would not expect to see that in a qualifying setting.

Any times I post are always made during a stint of no more than 5 laps unless noted otherwise. All of the times I have posted in this thread have occurred during the 1st or 2nd timed lap(2nd or 3rd including outlap).

Make sure you're doing your testing with tire/fuel wear set to "fast". The wear rate is pretty quick on this setting so one pitstop will be necessary and if you're not careful you could be at a real loss of grip at the end of a run. 10-12 laps is probably going to be the maximum on a set of tires for most cars. Should make things quite interesting! 👍

ok cool, now I don't feel like such a giant anus running around in the mid 2.03s, I honestly felt the car could go much faster but could never put the lap together,

I'm going to be around for a practice session this evening, and I'll have 6 tall boys keeping me company. Look for the lounge to be open around 8 or 8:30pm EST. If we can get at least 5 or 6 people we can do a mock-run of the race format, maybe a 3-4 lap heat race followed by a 10 lap reverse grid race.

oh geez, you guy's had me worried, I thought the races were today, I will only be able to attend the saturday one for now,

No, the official races are this Tuesday and the following Saturday. Seeing as you're half way around the world I didn't figure on seeing you for the Tuesday race (I think that would be around 4 or 5am for you!). I will have another practice session tomorrow around 3pm EST so you're welcome to join us for that one. 👍

I can't, I will have overlap with another series I'm running, but please post some results,

Looks like I should have the lounge open around 8:30pm EST, hope to see some of you there!

Keep the standard of drunk driving high! My liver will be there in spirit...

Is it too late to join this series?

Not at all, the races are this coming week and we have a couple slots open on each night. We're having a practice session tonight, send a friend request to "ORCA_Champ" and you're welcome to join. 👍

We miss your liver!

It'll be there on Tuesday, assuming its usual position at the back of the field... lol

Oops, forgot to make the post, but the lounge is open for practice. There are 5 of us in right now, come play!
