I think I sense a new mini game starting.

/\ Hahahaha classic !

2 pics from Monday night.

Gridded up and seconds from the green flag - X in P2 giving Mike in P1 the death stare.

Death stare by spinnerpics1, on Flickr

My first ever backfire pic captured. Bit of a let down actually , I played with shutter speeds but the flames remain soft looking. Tyres are sinking through the white line too dammit.

Great photo spinner.

I tried to capture a backfire as well but found it hard. When I paused the replay there was a 400mm flame shooting out of the back of the Lexus. But when I tried to take a photo it didn't show up, it just looked like I fire around the mufflers.

Needa put your video settings in gt5 on sharpen spinner :)

If I am not mistaken, those video settings only make a difference for people playing the game on an SD TV. If you are playing through the HDMI port (in HD) then they have no impact upon picture quality! 👍

I distinctly remember reading a review on GTP somewhere which was carried out by an organisation (I forget their name) who specialise in testing video games for things such as frame rate, picture quality, picture synchronisation, frame tearing so on and so on... This was published when GT5 was first released and the issue of video settings was obviously covered. They provided pictures (proof) that showed it made no difference when running video through an HDMI cable whereas those settings you speak of helped immensely when running through SD video outputs! ;)

On another note, I have finished taking photos from this weeks sprint races and will be posting them on here this afternoon! :D
With all the on-track action this week I actually hit a new record number of pictures for a single week (64) so it may take me a while to decide what to include in my highlight reel... :nervous:

Cheers, Xerx :)

Hrrm if im not mistaken Bomber, When i have it normal it flickers slightly , when it put it to flicker reduction it stops it, when its on sharpen i notice the edges of the video image are better and i also have the Brass hdmi connector cords not the budget silver coated one - dont know if that helps.

And werid becuase before i swaped to HDMI from SD i found it made no difference...

Interesting... I'm only going off what paid professionals say so I have certainly not tried it myself, perhaps they are wrong and you are right... :sly:

WTF is with the "Bomber" thing mate...? :ill:

Anyway, I have finally narrowed down the 64 pictures to a miniscule 22...
So here they are;

Round 6 (Cape Ring South) Highlight Reel - Photographed by X3rx3s44

Sprint 1

CapeRingSouthv3.jpg

On the grid and set for a start in sprint race 1 at Cape Ring's South Circuit.

CapeRingSouthv6.jpg

Lost made a good jump from 5th up to 2nd off the line whilst I slipped from 2nd to 4th in the run to the first corner...

CapeRingSouthv11.jpg

One sector down and Mike still leads us back up the climb as the rest of the field jostle for position. Taital and Oni both ran wide off the exit and got damage, very unfortunate at such an early stage of the race, especially for Taital given his pace at Cape Ring! 👎

CapeRingSouthv15.jpg

A few laps in and this was the view at the front of the pack, the top 4 covered by almost nothing with Mike still holding station out front...

CapeRingSouthv16.jpg

... The following lap and another 6-way battle group is emerging as everyone settles down into their rhythm and gets on with it!

CapeRingSouthv19.jpg

More laps tick by and we have dropped Lost due to an error on his part exiting the final corner and collecting the pit-wall... :( It is now tighter than ever at the front as Mike's tyres begin to let go, as do Stig's not quite as badly and mine even less as I utilised the tow and avoided pushing too hard through the turns! ;)

CapeRingSouthv20.jpg

This was the first moment that Mike lost the lead all race (Lap 10/11) and I was keen to make sure he did not gain it back again! So I set about pushing for a few laps knowing that my tyres were in better shape than those immediately around me! :sly:

CapeRingSouthv25.jpg

Race 1 had finished at the front but that battle still raged on between Oni and Mick_C as they rounded the final turn side-by-side. They had been running nose to tail for quite a good proportion of the race and I did not see a single touch! Ipressive driving guys! 👍

Sprint 2

CapeRingSouthv29.jpg

Reverse grid for the start of race 2 and an in form Taital grabs pole after a disappointing race 1, the potential was certainly there for him to bag a top result in race 2!

CapeRingSouthv31.jpg

Taital makes a good jump at the start and heads off into the distance with the chasing pack in hot pursuit! As far as I could see everyone decided that the race could not be won on the first turn and no-one had any incidents through the first couple of turns! Well done lads, it is always difficult in a reverse grid situation...

CapeRingSouthv32.jpg

Taital, Stubz and Evan skip away whilst Wanyz leads the main chasing pack through turns 3, 4 and 5...

CapeRingSouthv37.jpg

A few laps in and now it is down to business, unfortunately here, Stubz has been caught by the chasing pack and loses the back end on the dirt under brakes, this caused quite a bit of chaos going through the first hairpin leaving himself, Oni and Stig all with damage...

CapeRingSouthv39.jpg

The laps continue to tick by and now the final haripin is all that seperates the top 8 cars! Amazingly close racing! :D

CapeRingSouthv44.jpg

The laps continue to tumble and now the lead 3 cars exit the final hairpin 3-wide! Meanwhile, Stig, Rota (transparent) and I continue our pursuit of the lead group...

CapeRingSouthv47.jpg

... Finally I manage to bridge the gap to Taital and Waynz, by this stage Evan has dropped off due to an error and damage (I believe) whilst Stig is still hot on my heels!... Here, Taital and Waynz had slight contact on the run through turn 2 and into 3, forcing them both wide and allowing me to have a good run on the inside line at 3 and around the outside at 4!...

CapeRingSouthv50.jpg

... Taital and Waynz both ended up off the circuit with damage as a result of their contact, this allowed me to, as mentioned above, swing around the outside and turn 4 and take over the lead! It was looking like I could make it 2 from 2 at Cape Ring... :D

CapeRingSouthv52.jpg

... Then, as I pushed on to try and build the gap back to Stig this happened...

CapeRingSouthv53.jpg

... Leaving me in the wall and requiring a pitstop for damage :dunce:, and Stig free to push on unchallenged and build his gap!

CapeRingSouthv54.jpg

This is a random moment I captured from the battle between Rusty, Mike and Rota as Rusty tries out a drift line into the final hairpin!... It did not work out to be faster than normal strangly enough... :sly:

CapeRingSouthv58.jpg

On the final lap as we rounded the first of the hairpins, this was the view of 2nd through 4th... Nothing in it as we made our way around Cape Ring South for the last time...

CapeRingSouthv60.jpg

... Into the final turn and we can see 1st through 5th pictured here which is exceptionally close after 18 laps of hard fought racing! 👍 Stig has had a horror final lap as his tyres are gone and he is left vulnerable on the run to the line...

CapeRingSouthv64.jpg

Again, the battle is over at the front and we can see here the two most evenly matched team-mates fighting it out all the way down the the finish line! They rounded the final turn side-by-side and crossed the line almost side-by-side, good driving Mike & Rusty! 👍

That concludes my photos for this week... Finally!
I have no idea how long I spent taking photos and then trying to pick which ones I liked to post here, either way I watched each replay 3 times and then took a total of 64 photos! :D
As always, hope you enjoy them. Catch you all through the week and at Grand Valley!

Cheers, Xerx :)

Nice pictures mate and commentary . was hoping to get afew of mine and rotas battle :)

ahh i dont know maybe it could have been fixed through one of the many updates

ahh i dont know maybe it could have been fixed through one of the many updates

True! 👍
That is most likely what happened considering what I read was published when GT5 was first released. We have had a lot of updates since then! I will have to go and have a play with it and see what I think now, you have got me thinking about it! ;)

Cheers, Xerx :)

Thanks for your efforts on the pics X. Thats a lot of work , more than I can ever be bothered with ! (I always start with intentions of documenting the highlights of the race but after a few shots , get slack and just watch the replay .... haha)

In other news , I spoke to Oni about myself and Evan forming a team , he's okay with it. We will combine our individual points only and discard those from each of our previous team members. Is everyone else cool with it ?

LOL!👍 Great capture mate! Really looks like I got some big angle and extension into to the corner on this one.

I didn't drift because I wanted to go faster; I think this was race 1's last corner. At that point I was a little dissapointed about being given damage early in the race...finishing in the position I was in.:indiff: I had leftover rubber and I was like; whatever...I have to have some fun in this race!!!:sly: Besides it was a nice little display for the crowds...I didn't hear them complaining hahahaaa!!:D:tup:
Cheer's for the photo's Xerxes,
Rusty

Yeah its awsome getting mad angle and just pulling it off from hitting wall and as soon as you striaghten you get that crowed cheering noise sickness.

Yeah boy thats how the pink machine rolls for 6 laps. Must be those rims everyone checking them out off the line
Looks like rustys peeled of the whiteline and replaced it with his rubber

Just looking at the photo's of that 2nd race make me angry at myself. On lap 17 I was suffering from fairly bad understeer, but I could deal with it, I just bakced off and could afford to drop a second a lap to the pack behind me, especially after Wilco I think it was ran straight into the fence and ruined it for himself. But I don't know what it was, on lap 18, it was like I instantly fell off the cliff, the car was squirming under braking, threatening to spin me at any time, but I thought nothing of it. At the next corner though, I couldn't ignore it, because before I knew it I was facing the wrong way and sliding towards an ever growing wall.

I came to the next sector and the gap was something like 12 seconds, I thought "yes, I can do this" and my Step Dad walks into my room, starts talking about something random and almost forces me to look at him, then he left and the gap had dropped again. I was force to take the long right hander at about 200 kph because I started to drift if I went any faster. Coming into the last turn I looked back, saw Xerx dive down the inside and as I exited the corner I thought I had him covered, but I couldn't get my car far over enough and he got me up the inside, I just about felt like putting him into the wall on that straight, I was just so angry with myself.

Anyway, it's like all the other races where I've done something stupid or something has happened, there is literally nothing I can do about it, nothing at all, so there is no point beating myself up over it. Just concentrate on the next race, which funnily enough, I haven't been :P. I've taken almost the whole week off from the ISF, but I've got no school tomorrow, so if anyone else has no life or anything to do tomorrow around mid day, add me and we'll do some testing :)

Cheers mate!

I actually quite enjoy playing with the photo mode, I'm not much of a photographer in real life but on GT5 I can take shots that look like they were taken by a professional so I like that aspect!

As for the team switch, I don't see it being a problem at all, I will re-adjust the points table and put Toivonen and Dilluzion on the other team together! 👍

So, what colour are you guys running for the remainder of the season...? Isotope Green I assume...? ;)

Cheers, Xerx :)

You betcha ! Ev is ready to roll with a paint chip I believe.

Thanks mate. 👍

I'll probably be online sometime tomorrow Mike.;)
I presume it will be one race for Grand Valley? 'How many laps are we looking at for this one Oni?💡
Peace,

No problems! :)

Drivers & Teams Standings have been updated to reflect the team re-shuffle! 👍

Yeah mate, 1 race at Grand Valley! 👍
The sprints were rounds 3 & 6, so they are both done now!

As for laps, I expect a fast time to be in the 1:40-1:42 range (not sure yet...) so we should run somewhere around the 32-35 lap mark I expect mate! ;)

Cheers, Xerx :)

P.S. I will most likely be online sometime around midday tomorrow also, so if anyone else is interested in testing feel free to jump in my lounge if I'm about! :sly:

Cool Rusty,
I've got quite a bit of work I took home with me but after I'm done with that I plan on getting online and having a few laps.
I'm a bit off the pace at Grand Valley (did a few laps with Lost and then others joined and we all got bored of the IS-F's :))
so it would be good for me to have a play with the setup and my lines and see what I can do 👍
Mike

Edit: Oh yeah, and awesome pics as always X :)

As with what bomber said, i'm by no means a professional photographer but god it's fun to play with the camera in GT5. I was in a GT300 race on Wednesday night at Nurb GP/F and got some amazing photo's.

NrburgringGP_F_18.jpg

Lap 1 turn 1 at Nurb has the potentional to always end up like this !

NrburgringGP_F_14.jpg

Lost (lexus) and myself (subaru) using the curb to help get a smooth clean exit out of the complex turn 3 and 4. As you can see with a bit of filters the weather looks horrible which makes the photo so much better !

NrburgringGP_F_16.jpg

Barbie (celica) does a "i made the apex" move on myself in the subaru

NrburgringGP_F_23.jpg

Got bored so i thought i'd wave at the camera..

NrburgringGP_F_26.jpg

The quickest way out of the esses at the end of the back straight !

Now in reply to spinners exhaust flame photo's i have a serious contender for ****ing great photo !!!

NrburgringGP_F_29.jpg

This photo just is amazing..
