I think you will find that your friend list is saved online as well as on your own ps3. When I reset my ps3 back to default it took hours to upload the new updates, but when I got back online all my friends list was un touched even though I had to start gran turismo from scratch.

Mick C gifted me a car and I raced seasonals. First race I went from 0 to level 19 in one hit LOL :)

Lucky for onis online backup data :)
wicked its snowing here first time in my area in 80 years.

Great racing tonight everybody! I had a blast, surprisingly, as I hate Cape Ring, although I do think that the South Circuit is the best of the layouts! :)

Now, onto other matters, please everybody I don't want to start an arguement with this although there is no arguement to be had...

This is for anyone who questioned how clean my racing is (taital & others), never tell me I'm a dirty or unfair racer, you should all know that is not true by now! Here is some proof to back up my side of the arguement where I said, "I outbraked Waynz on fresher rubber, I was alongside on turn-in and made both apexes of the turn..." Thus, it is not a dive, it is an outbraking manouver!

CapeRingSouthv2.jpg

Wow! And what do we have here, I am alongside Waynz under brakes... I think that makes my overtaking move legitimate... If I am not mistaken...

CapeRingSouthv1.jpg

And look! I even made the apex of the corner, so thus, not a dive! Moreover, I was in enough control that I was able to ride the curb hard to do my very best to avoid having contact with Waynz!

I don't expect you to apologise or care taital (and anyone else) but don't accuse me of something I have not done and say "check the replay". I have, and I was right, you were wrong... Here's a tip for you, perhaps you should have checked the replay before calling for me to be DQ'd... 💡

Cheers, Xerx :)

I may have overlooked this somehow, but how do I view the series standings?
Spinner emailed it to me a while ago, but I think I deleted it thinking I'd bookmarked the page :dunce:

I think Xerx has won on points (well done mate :)) but I'd just be interested to see how it's going.

Let me clear a few things up, i didn't call for a DQ i mentioned a penalty. What your camera view doesn't show is where you came from to get to that position.

If you look at the 2 photo's. Look how close you are to the apex of the corner when you pull out along side him. Also notice the wheel angels, Wayn was turning in because the corner starts there, and your wheels are still facing forward because if you turn whilst under heavy braking you will just understeer wide.

It was a good late braking manouver but seeing as he had no option to turn in on you which forced him to get a time penalty, to me it makes the move a bit suspicious and that's why i said what i said in game.

If i had of pulled off this move i would have got flamed, i think the problem with GT5 online racing is that people base the moves you make on the person you are even though it's still the same move.

Now i am running late to work as i decided to eat Fruit Loops before work but here is a quick few photo's! (all starring me of course)

Unfortunately Evan and myself had speed but there was a bit of contact at times, sadly leading to damage. All's good tho !

Moments before my race ended it looks great on film !

Big sorry on the couple of contacts we had taital. You turn in later than me so I though you were leaving me some space so I tried to slip up the inside and then you shut the door, every time I hit the brakes and bang tapped you. Sorry I didn't get damage and I thought you mustn't as well. Every time I backed off to let you back in front and then try to pass you again.

But man that was good fun. Well done Xerxs, I looked at the replay of your last corner pass and I think your good. You were well up the inside.

Good racing everyone and let's hope we have some races with 15 cars again.

The photos look great guys.

Evan

Hey spinner do you want to combine teams for the last two races??
We are both team mate free. I don't mind changing to isotope green.👍

Evan

I'm pretty happy with my result last night, although I was in lower mid-pack that's better than I would have thought.

Due mainly to my very poor lap times around Cape Ring south. I was glad to not be in last place.

I really was the slowest paced dude out there. I turned a load of laps in practice for the race but never felt happy with my lines or speed.

So for the first race I tried to do it with a pit-stop half way mainly due to a fear of low grip on worn tyres making me prone to crashing ( which had been the case in practice races ). Ended up following Oni for the last several laps, it looked like he was struggling with damage, I was a little faster in some parts of the track, but choose to hold off passing him until Xerxes came up behind us, when Oni went see-through I knew it would be able to make a fully clean pass and then drove away.

Then for race 2 I figured I may as well go full distance on the one set of rubber. I was at the head of the pack at the start of race 2 and allowed myself to slip back in the field. I'd like to give a genuine thumbs up 👍 to the field of racers for cleanly passing me.

Then I turned clean consistent laps, was following Spinner for a little while, think he was doing the same as me (zero stops) but he soon pulled away from me.

As other drivers had to pit for their various reasons, I was holding 4th for quite a long period. Then the pack started to catch me again. Was feeling the effect of worn tyres so just let them by as they caught me and ended up with a quite good mid-pack finish.

Hey X I know you posted that very early in the morning but...EASY KILLA lol.:scared:
It's as you said mate there was no argument to be had. Your words where pretty sharp and I would say could cause more problems.:nervous:

I know its not nice to be in the position of feeling falsely acused; but just let the evidence do all the talking.;)

Now everyone else; I think it would be a good idea to give everyone the 'benefit of the doubt' on race night, then follow these procedures to make your complaint known:

1st: DON'T SLING aligations on race night; SAVE THE REPLAY! We are all good drivers and theres NO NEED to be arguing in the Chat box!:dunce:
Always remember that in the heat of a battle its easy to give someone a nudge without realizing it caused them damage.

2nd: At a point where your NERVES ARN'T SHOT TO PIECES; watch the race and see what happened.

3rd: IF you still feel strongly that there was a wrong move put on YOU; then take A MAXIMUM OF 2 PHOTO's as proof of your point. Put it in this thread and let the evidence do the talking.:)👍 If it doesn't involve YOU PERSONALLY, and whoever got 'dealt injustice' doesn't care...then STFU...I mean don't worry about it.:D

I posted the above to try and prevent 1st; arguing in the chat box (not cool). 2nd; to prevent people being offended (feeling falsly accused). And 3rd; let justice prevail!💡

I had 2 crap races; got given damage early in both races not to my own fault. But theres simply no point me going on about it. (And dont ask, I'm over it). Sometimes you just gotta take it on the chin as much as that sux.:indiff:
Thanks for the races guys, to the boys who joined the after party...that was fun.:D:tup: The after party is sooo crucial to get everyone to just chill lol. The highlight of my night hahaaa!
Peace,
Rusty

Always a party in the "coffee lounge" ...

Good words Rusty

The post race bickering is something we should drop. There's nothing good ever comes from it.

Remember: It's just a game.

Right this has been bugging for for awhile now so thought i would investigate

Every little bit of rear damage i get the car is so unstable ( undriveable ) and couldnt work out how Xerx was driving it so good now i think i have as we both had the same DAMAGE ON CAPE RING and look at the difference....And i hit the wall at much lower speed and he came flying into the wall at speed so its not a impact / speed thing, Anyone care to explain this to me as i am not understanding this concept.

Now Xerx With the exact same damage.

Yeah your probably right, sorry taital, I was a bit 'frustrated' that I had been told what I did was unfair, when I am certain it was not. Probably did not approach dealing with the situation correctly, as Rusty pointed out... :(

So sorry mate for getting fired up, but I hate nothing more than being accused of something I didn't do... :grumpy:

As Rusty said, in future I will follow the 'correct' procedure for making my case about the legitimacy of my move. As it was, no-one involved felt cheated which is the main reason why I got so 'frustrated' because I felt like someone who was unaffected just wanted to label me as dirty for something which was not.

Again, sorry to everyone if I have caused tensions. That was not my intent, when I posted I was tired and felt like I was being vilified and reacted... poorly... my bad! 👎

As for the 'after party' I think they are some of the best races we all have as a group! Look forward to that after racing every week! 👍 Thanks again guys for making them worth waiting all week for! ;)

Cheers, Xerx :)

Yeah its all good X, I'm just glad your not about ready to tear my head off lol!

Thanks to the boys who read my post, its pretty big but has good ways to prevent problems from escalating.

Oni if you like the idea back it up, so everyone recognizes it as how to deal with race incidents...for all the series to come even.

Lost, great photo's mate! I never realized that the damage model would actually show the wheel so far off alignment!:scared:

So I see you didn't think much of my track Taital lol.
You sure didn't mind letting me know how good a track maker I am haha.:D You need to give that crazy track of mine a few laps to get use to it, it rocks when you know it well!!!:dopey:👍

Yeah nice damage shots lost! 👍

I think what you will find is that there are varying degrees/types of damage for each indicator...
What I have found is that you can have the minor damage indicator showing up but sometimes it is fine to drive, other times it is near-enough to impossible!
I believe what you have photographed is the perfect example of this! ;)

What I have found (through my racing accidents... :dunce:) is that it is not determined as much by the speed of the impact as significantly as the angle of impact!

This makes logical sense in terms of physics too! Every material used has differing tensile, torsion, compressive and shear strengths and can be seen to withstand huge loads (impacts) from a certain direction but fails (breaks/deforms) under much smaller loads from a different vector (direction).

So what I would say is that it is not about how hard you hit the wall but from what direction you hit it! Also, in GT5 you can have a second impact and the indicator does not change but the handling physics of the car change dramatically, hence, why I believe there are varying levels of damage for the same indicator shown on the car...

A perfect example of my 'physics lecture' is Carbon Firbe body parts of Formula 1 cars. Carbon Firbe has amazing rigidity and strength but as a result is known to be very brittle if forces are applied from an un-intended direction. What I'm saying is that, the way an F1 car is built the Carbon Fibre is bonded in such a way as to provide amazing strength and rigidity when used as intended (circuit racing) but if you have an accident, forces are applied from directions that the Carbon Fibre was not intended/designed to have forces applied from and is very susceptible to breaking and deformation.

I think this is what GT5 captures by putting a greater weighting on the direction of impact than the speed of impact when determining the level of damage sustained.

Hope that answers your question lost... :sly:

Cheers, Xerx :)

Yeah cheers Xerx it does explain the concept of it to me i get the idea..
i just find that every time its rear damage either way which i hit the wall any angle it has the same effect.
It was funny to watch because the wheel was striaght then floopy around from side to side like the pit crew hadnt put the nut on properly..

Anywho good shots if only my front wheels were that much inlined for the corner,

on another note i would like to see light damage for next series as rusty brought up in conversation.

@Oni_Chan, sorry about my remarks about how you ruined my race. As you would know, when you lose an 18 second lead on the last lap due to tyre wear, you instantly go straight to the reason why it happened, the damage I had was wearing the right front and left rear way to fast. I got damage while avoiding my own team mate and running down the inside of your car, when the race finished I thought that you had turned in on me but it turns out it was my own fault. Sorry.

As for wayne and taital, I know you guys have been getting a little heated over the last 2 weeks, but seriously Taital, you saying that what happened on lap 9 was Waynes fault is just low. I have no idea at all what you were doing, be you pulled hard left on a right hand corner straight into Waynes car giving him damage on both wheels on the right side. I'd expect that you'd say that it was your fault or something like that, but no, you drove into him and say it's his fault

Yeah sorry xerx I think there was a miscommunication in what I said, I didn't intend for you to read it as me calling you dirty, I just felt that due to the move he got a penalty when it wasn't his doing that's all. Partly due to my ship night I may have typed it in a more forceful tone , but as I said this morning it was a good late braking maneuver just didn't end how it was intended, also Wayn pitted so he had pretty good tyres!

Rusty: wasn't an intentional insult on your track haha

Spin: you tanked last night, you may exit corners in 7th but you stayed out of the crap! Good drive man!

Will: man hard luck in race 2 but great drive last night!

Yeah Taital, was absolutley SPEWIN i crashed it, all by myself, with 5 f##king laps to go, running in 2nd, with good tyres and catchin the leader at a second a lap (was only 4 sec behind when i carashed). Spewwwwwin!
I had Spinner on my tail for most of race 2, you did well mate, congrats.
and Taital, you're the one that had the hard luck last night mate, not me. Was spewin you were so far back, I was looking forward to one of our trademark battles (and / or blocking fest). As usual, I also had a couple of small battles with Rota, arguing over the same bit of road (as usual!) In race 1 it was wierd Rota, I tapped you (was a touch late on the brakes) and I got damage - i imagine you did too - but YOU got penalized for it ...(???) thats when i got off the throttle on the main straight to let you past. The second time we made contact later in the race, was at the same corner (i think) but this time i was well and trully up the inside, and and it looked like you and evan went wide or something, and you got penalized again! sorry champ, we always seem to be occupying the same inch of track in every race..
Also spewin my team mate got taken out.. not good.
Just one thing guys, can we look at possibly turning penalties OFF?? it just seems as though the victim is held responsible for his misfortunes.. and regarding lapped cars? well the lapper shouldnt have a problem as he is faster than the lappee.. and the lappee should be aware of whats coming up behind him.. dunno, just a thought.
Cheers boys, was still some great racing!

Hey guys, sorry I dissapeared all of a sudden last night, hot completely disconnected off the Internet, sure no one even noticed i was gone :P

I dono taital hes pretty dirty....

He need to take his car into GT AUTO and give it a car wash.

Hi guys,
I have updated the drivers and teams standings to reflect last nights results! ;)

Well done to Mike for Pole, also Stig and Willco for setting the fastest laps in race 1 and 2, respectively. 👍

Cheers, Xerx :)

Haha all good Taital just jokes mate, perhaps if I was sitting in an Úber comfy seat like yours I wouldn't have made the track I did lol!

Ohh also not nit-pickin'or anything, but I thought the term 'tanked' means to 'perform below par' or just simply to ' fail and suck bigtime' lol?? I'm gonna feel pretty 'sub-par' myself if I got that wrong hehe.:D
Rusty

So did I!

But I have heard it used as taital intended also, but I did have to read that sentence twice!... :D

Cheers, Xerx :)

Xerx has almost got the championship in the bag now, but if he fails to finish the next to races then he'll have a problem on his hands, but I doubt that will happen considering his great form and consistency.

While I'm here. I remember one of you guys talking about how when they loaded the game it would take up to half an hour to get into the "GT LIFE" menu, does anyone know how this issue is sorted? I have a friend who is having the problem

Evan , I'd be happy to team up with you if thats okay by everyone else. If we combine our individual points for the new team and ignore Toiv and Bonsons points , I think that would be fair enough. But as I said , as long as there are no objections.
We both had average quali laps at Fuji , I'm not sure where that sits with the system used to create the original teams ?

Re: GT5s damage modelling. I hit a wall last night and got no damage , I was very surprised considering it was a decent tap. Might be the angle of impact as X says ?

Waynz: Nice clean pass last lap of race 2 mate , I appreciate your patience there. You waited for the right spot to make the move despite X coming bearing down on you. I was happy to open up the inside line there , also same goes for X at the next left hairpin. I was on 18 lap old tyres and it was becoming a bit of a mission to maintain race pace ! No point in trying to block in that situation. Actually it was nice to get amongst the action for a change.

Mick: You are a true gentleman mate. I was happy to follow you early on. That pace was really good for tyre conservation but I guess you felt you were holding me up. One of the things I miss about having mics on is to be able to shoot short messages to eachother , but considering the dodgy connections last night it's clear we need to keep mics disabled. On that note I didn't see much lag from anyone.

I gave the pit crew a night off taking no stops in both races. It was a gamble but it paid reasonable dividends I reckon. Lap times were far from spectacular but I was still doing 11's at the end. I'm happy with that and a bunch of points to boot !

Taital: Yeah I drove like my grandma last night ! I have no shame !! Exit in 7th all the way !! (actually thats a bit of an exaggeration ..... I was short shifting like a biatch though)
