Hey, a little off topic . . . but I was checking the David Coulthard challenge.

I knew you guys were fast but that proves it.

When looking through the pages of top times, most Aus / NZ flags had a name next to it I recognised. Congrats especially to Toiv who's set a flyer!!! Not sure if he checks this thread often as he pulled out of the series, but anyway, well done.

Also Bonson has a good time right up there. Xerxes too.

Yeah i was pretty excited when this challenge started.. shame its full of cheaters in the top 20ish so i gave up trying to set my best time. Thanks alot cheaters for ruining a good TT.👎
 
Did not know about the cheat(s) possible on the Top Gear track.

maybe I should change my earlier post . . . To say what I really feel!!!:grumpy:

I was wondering how they were going so quick, only got into the top 100 on a 16 flat or something. So I loaded the ghost of the number 1 guy.

I set my best time just following behind him... Cuts Gambon hard out...

I could easily be in the top 10 I reckon, but CBF.
 
Yeah , wtf PD ? So strict about staying within the track boundaries for most of the course , but allowing people to massively cut in other places ?

I have found it to be such a frustrating challenge , lap 1 - go steady , get tyres warm , lap 2 - go for it .... only to make one little error and red time. Back to square 1 ! It's ridiculous that you cant complete your red lap and get back to a white time with a fresh lap , and keep your warm tyres.

I'm sure I can gold the bloody thing but I dont have the patience to keep restarting on colds. I think my best was a 19.5. !

Spot on there Bono.. I loaded the top guys replay to follow and find how they did those times.. soon as i seen the cut i said F this and just quit. No point playing if people are going to cheat imo.
 
I went out and set a 1:17.2, then I thought I'd download the top guys ghost to see where I could gain time. The top guy is on my friends list, and I often race with him, and I already know that I'm faster than him with the SLS, so I thought, I can take him with about an hours practise. As soon as I saw him completely cut chicago though, I just gave up. I also found out later that he was using a steering assist. I sent him a message asking him what he was thinking, and he said it was alright to cut the corner because DC cut corners in real life (I think he put 4 wheels over a line going into chicago).

He's since taken off the steering assist, but set ABS to 5.
I just don't understand these people, it's like the people who use grip mods to set 10 second a lap faster times on F1 2010. Do they think that everyone thinks they're the best because they can cheat? It beats me that's for sure. I'm not taking GT5 seasonals seriously until putting 3 or more wheels over the white line is a DQ, and no AIDS except ABS 1 is allowed.

Thats some good words there Stiggy! I'm with you mate, I have absolutely no respect for people that cheat. There either desperado's or young kids.:indiff:

+1 mate. I 100% agree with you on this. The penalty system should be just as tight as you mentioned. Until the day this happens the seasonal TTs are worthless other than getting the prize and getting out to some proper racing.
 
I will put my hand up, i took the Chicago cut, if i didn't then i wouldn't have a controller or TV to play GT5 on.
 
My best time was the Chicago cut, but basically I loaded the No.1 TT up and followed him. It was the only time I did before I quit.
 
My time was nothing to write home about (1:18.500) but was with no cut.. did turn on tcs though.. (oops)
 
Well, I can happily say that I set my time perfectly legally (1:15.881) and was 15th fastest worldwide when I set it before people started cheating... :mad:

I know I could go faster too because I drifted the exit of Hammerhead trying to get power down so I think if people had not ruined it I would have had a shot of staying in the top 10 or 25 overall... :grumpy:

For those who want to see what a fast, more importantly clean laps looks like I have posted my lap below... Also, this was set using no aids and ABS @ 1 so I could go faster again if I started turning on the aids which some people at the top of the leaderboard have chosen to do...



Like I said, I can go faster but I have all but lost interest since the cheaters came out to play. :(

Likewise Stig, I was very disappointed to see people from my FL whom I thought better of cheating, but each to their own I guess...

I got a 18.2 with no cuts but honestly I was raging hardcore at the bs things that caused my lap to be invalid. Watching bombers lap at hammerhead I had the same entry and exit points but I got stung with a red lap!! FRUSTRATION

I know how you feel about Hammerhead Wagon Wheel, I reckon I would have had about a 20-30% fail rate at that corner for the exact same reason... :ouch:

I think it is literally a matter of millimeters between whether the game calls it legal or not, the other spot I had trouble with was the long left turn two (Wilson) as it is touch and go as to how much of that inside (red and white) painted tarmac you can take without the game calling foul...

I hadn't been online in a while until tonight, but my mate just got a g27, so we just had to give the SLS challenge a whirl :)

Bit dissapointed though, I was looking forward to a live time trial, GT prologue style, where you get your world ranking after each lap.
I ended up getting a 1:16.629 with no aids, abs at 1, and not touching any lines for fear of disqualification hahah

My mate got a 1:17.210, not bad for his first time on GT5!

We just got so annoyed with all the invalid laps and other peoples corner cutting, that we decided to give it a rest.

Nice clean lap by the way Xerx, no way I'm touching that!

By the way super gt at fuji tomorrow, just watched qually and recorded times for the 300's and 500's. For anyone else who is bored and wants to run fuji in the jgtc cars to compare times here they are

GT500 - SC430 -
sector 1 = 20.8xx
Sector 2 = 49.7xx
Sector 3. = 1:34. 411

GT300 - BMW


Sector 3 = 1:43. 416
