Ruf are both a manufacturor and a tuner, this topic has been covered pretty well in the past.

It would be awesome if Ruf in GT4 were allowed to tune the original Beetle and Karman Ghia! What fun it would be to have a CTR-engined (or something similar) VW Beetle slamming 'round the Ring! The way the press release sounds, this tuning concept may become an option for a few select cars? Who knows, I can't wait to see!

Yeah that would be great. Still ... in game RUF has only highly tuned porsches so it fits under tuners. Anyway ... that to side ...

I woul love more to see them tune something like a Mk1 Golf :D.

How wrong you are, they will tuine people Porsches, but the cars Ruf build are Ruf's, not modified Porsches. As for Ruf being in the tuner village, thats not a bad thing, but maybe they should have the tune shop in the village and the dealership in the german cars section to avoid confusion with people thinking theyre just modified Porsches all over again. I would love o stick Ruf parts onto an old Beetle and let rip round the ring as others would in the thread.

maybe the PAL version has Porsche in it, and then RUF is its tuner in the tuner village!!   hahaha, higly unlikely

No, the Ruf's in GT are not tuned Porsches, they look like Porsches but thay are full blooded Ruf's, not tuned Porsches so the cars themselves don't fit under the tuners category.

Anyone ever think of the possiblity that there will be three different versions of the game? This just came to me while reading this thread so sorry if its way off topic, but what if the Japanesee version has more Japanesse cars, while the UK version has less Japan cars and more of the UK heritage. The USA version being the same but with a stronger American heritage. It doesn't sound very likely but it is also slightly possible KY has this in mind.

Ummm.... Go RUF's!

Sounds fine with me! I want a C6 vette, and maybe a Trans Am, old or new. 👍

It is very unlikely but I hope that there is a Cologne Capri in GT4.
On the subject of different GT4s for different areas I really hope they don't do that because if you wanted all the cars you would be left wanting unless you bought every version.

I'm sure that if the PAL version of GT4 has more cars than the Japanese version mr. Polyphony Digital will get lynched in the streets of Tokyo.

Ruf isn't a tuner, they are a manufacturer, period...end of story. They belong where they have always been in the German dealerships.

Yes it was. So, I have remove the pics and info. Didn't check it all. Blimey. Early happiness.

:guilty:

We would really expect any unique cars for the European version to be ... European, now wouldn't we? :sly:

Technically Mazda could be classified as American... they're owned by Ford!!

but it's origin is from JAPAN, so that makes it a japanese car..........it doesn't matter who's the owner, but where it's actually made!

I hope they just add some cars instead of deleting some asian cars to have place.

What about STi and Prodrive in tuner village? Is there anough tuning possibilty for a Subaru fan???

Sorry Kensei, but Ruf are both a manufacturer of cars (which they describe as refined Porsche models) and supplier of tuning parts. The Ruf website (which you have a link to on your sig) actually details the Ruf components you can buy, additionally Ruf will of course fit these parts; making them a tuner as well as a manufacturer.

Its the duel nature of Ruf (as manufacturer and tuner) that has helped to cause so much confusion.

i don't find it that confusing..... a little bit research should help some of you guys to get a clear view of RUF. RUF is a tuner as well as a manufacturer. You can buy RUF models ( almost completely revised porsches) and you can also buy lose engine and bodyparts.

Ford control Mazda, they don't own it. They have a 33.3% stake, making them the majority shareholder.

Nissan (Sunderland) and Honda (Swindon) are just two of the Japanese manufacturers who have major production facilities in the United Kingdom. So, is a Honda Civic a British car now?

Controller <-> Majority Share holder <-> Owner...

Very subtle differences...

But that's why I said technically...

I was merely being pedantic!!

PS They say that Swindon is the home of the Mini-Roundabout and the Civic!! (I say it's Pig-Town)

I know all this. Sure they have a duel nature but I know Alois Ruf considers his company a manufacturer over a tuner. I've read that a few times in interviews, PR and stories about him and RUF.

RUF makes parts for Porsches. There are no Porsches in GT4, so what is there to "tune" in GT4 via RUF parts? Nothing.

Thats true kensei. In GT4 is Ruf a manufacturer and not a Porsche tuner. Because there is no Porsche in the game. Its a pitty that Ruf still doesn't have made there own cayenne-like car. It would be nice to have that in GT4.

Actually RUF provide a range of parts; engine specs, Suspension specs, gearbox specs, so you can in fact "upgrade" or "tune" a RUF with further RUF parts.

Just because a car has a RUF VIN doesn't mean it is the fastest or best possible incarnation of a particular RUF model. Also older cars can be upgraded to later specifications too.

I know this too.

But we have that in GT4. You can add parts and "tune" your Ruf all you want already. They even come from the "Ruf parts shop in the Ruf dealership". In fact you can do that to almost any car you like, it doesn't have to be a Ruf. You have been able to since GT1, it is nothing new.

Sweet new Audi added... Good work Amar... You've got some major sources hidden up your sleeves!!

So glad that PAL is gonna get some more cars... we deserve it after our massive wait for the game!!

holy cr*p!!! Having the Auto Union Type C Streamliner alone makes over a year of delays worthwhile  ooh if only they had the Mercedes-Benz W125 and W154 Rekord :dopey: this would be the greatest game (not just confined to racing sims) ever created!
Haha yeah I'm a huge fan of the old 1937/38 GP cars. These were really the golden years of Grand Prix. Well atleast up until 1937 anyway when they restricted engine size :guilty:

amar212: I almost fainted when I saw that. I am audi freak and I love those old Auto Unions (have a lot of framed posters on my walls from audi museum (have been there few times), and I love them) ...

and to get that Typ C in GT4 and with streamline ... awesome!!!!

So we get two Grand Prix cars in GT4 - a great addition, i hope that the 'handful' of others are just as good - rather than the Fiestas and Renault Megans that we will probably get.

Awesome news about the Auto Union C Type! If you notice, I had one listed in the GT5 Wish List. I hope the NTSC NA version of GT4 gets this car.
