Wow nice. And also nice is that they say ADDED instead of REPLACED
This is one of a handful of cars that will be ADDED to GT4 for the PAL version."

Nice news for the PAL folks.. sadly, I'm not one of them.. hehe. But here's hoping we get similar treatment for the American release. Certainly sounds better than "bug fixes" and the other lame excuses they've been spewing lately.

Looks like a neat car, though.. I have to admit I've never heard of it.. hehe. But it certainly looks a lot more recent than 1938.. that says something for the engineering of the time, that a similar style of design is still used to this day. I mean, a lot of the little parts are different, but the overall shape, especially on the front end, can still be seen on today's LeMans prototypes.

Yeah, that does say something for the engineering of the time. You should research some of the grand prix cars of that era (1937 mainly). For example the Mercedes-Benz W125 could push out as much as 640bhp  and due to engine sizes being restricted to 4.5L for NA and 3L for supercharged units from 1938 onwards, Grand Prix never saw more powerful cars until the Turbo era came about in the late 70's... Now that's saying something

My hopes also goes to GP cars of that era (as driven by Richard Seaman, Caracciola, Tazio Nuvolari, Rosemayer or Von Brausewitz) of Auto Union, MBenz, Alfa and so on. And in the same package, Nurburgring from late thirties:).

And record breaking Mercedes W125, naturally.

And piece of original Berlin AutoBahn:).

Liquid Li0n
We are talking about old race cars but I hope they also put normal european cars in it. Like the Audi S8 or BMW 760Li
Audi S8 and BMW 760Li are not "normal" cars. They are more like"fat monster" road cars ;)

Sweet! This is really good news, almost makes up for the pain of having to wait that bit longer... excellent pics too... another major scoop from Amar212! :)

Wasn't the Auto Union I listed for GT5 but none the less very good stuff, glad to see history being a part of it and not left on the curb so to speak.

Wicked Awesome!

The Silver Arrows in GT4!
Yeah, buddy.
I only wish they would include the old high speed course from Munich (I think).
In the late 30's, those cars were clocking around 275 mph on that course.
May seem unbelievable for 1936, but it's true.

This is great news, but what does this say about the "the game is finished! They can't add or change anything!!" statements made?

I guess this does go to show that they can add cars & make changes after the game is "finished".

I wonder what this news holds for any new cars for the NA version? i'd go out on a limb & say the C6 vette is on the bill.

Me personally, I'd like to see the 05 Acura RL/Legend. Actually, the Mugen LM would be the cats ass. It wouldn't be in the NA game, but still....

Front engine Rear drive,
590bhp @ 9,500rpm 4.0L V8

Nice although I'm not that excited about the AutoUnion car since its already in Sega GT Online (along with many of the new cars in GT4). I hope they stick in some 80's & 90's European cars to fill up the large european hole in the used car dealership. :)

Thanks alot AMAR, you've made my day, the Auto Union is excactly the car I was hoping for when I first heard there would be "classics" in GT4! And it's so nicely done with the driver wearing the proper outfit. Keep them coming!

The game isn't finished though... that's why it's not been released...

Localising the software is something that a programmer would need to import into the game... and before that is finished there will be time and oppurtunity to add extra stuff... Once the localisation is all done and the testing starts then nothing else will be added bar fixes to bugs that are found in QA.

Funny...just yesterday I was thinking I wish the Auto Union streamliner was in Gt4...and it appears. Looks like I'll be buying the PAL version too and trying to figure out how to make the PAL game play on my NTSC PS2 with AR MAX.

Any news if this Auto Union car will be NTSC, North American, version?

Amazing machine for its age or any age.Let's keeping wishing for cars so that they can magiclly appear.

kensei, just chip it. besides, you'll need to run american games on it, there are quite a few chips that support imported DVD9 (not DVD9 copies though)

get one of those and you're all set.

Wow sounds very powerful for 1938!!

I am very pleased to hear this as it makes the wait a little more worthwile.

One more thing about the car is that it looks like it can't have particularly good steering with fender skirts going over the front wheels therefore restricting the angle the can turn up to. :odd: 💡 I guess it must have been a stability thing or something so control was not lost at high speeds

its great that they are still adding cars to the other versions i wonder what else will be put in. I am also pretty shure that the wheel covers moe as the wheel is turned during a corner

As I know, this particular model with covered wheels was a "Streamline" model of "Type C" racing car, one without the covers and with some changes in overall looks.

Covers were there for aerodynamic purposes, because high-powered versions of this car were used for breaking speed-records on roads, which was very big thing in Germany just before WWII breaked loose.

With Auto Union Type C Streamline, Bernd Rosemayer established world record in 1937., by going 406 km/h (252 mp/h) on the open road. He died in horrific accident year later, while trying to make a new record with 1938. Auto Union's Streamline.

The only competitor for this car was Mercedes-Benz's W125 Streamline, the fastest car on the road ever.

"....Rudolf Caracciola's record of 429 km/h (268.7mph) over the flying kilometre on 28th January 1938, remains the fastest ever officially timed speed on a public road. This record breaking run was made on the Autobahn near Frankfurt, where onlookers were rattled by the brutal boom of the side spewing exhaust stacks as the silver car hurtled past..." (I just love this quote:). Hope that we'll hear those exhaust in the same way in the game...).

The specs for those cars were astonishing:

Auto Union:

about 6000 ccm
more then 600 HP
about 1000 kg

Mercedes-Benz:

5577 ccm
736 HP
1185 kg (curb weight)

Also notice that "normal" racing cars of that time had an average power of 550 HP, and that Rosemayer was one of the rare - if not the only one - able to drive racing version of Type C up to 380 km/h on straights of Nordschleife.

I hope the american version gets the lm panoz and hopefully the C6. What other cars does the euro version get we havent seen?

I don't want to waste my time chipping a PS2, never have. If it is that much trouble I'll import a PAL PS2 like I did for a NTSC-J one. I know ARMAX allows one to play PAL games on a NTSC PS2. I've seen it done with PAL prolouge on a NTSC PS2...not sure about DVD9 and ARMAX compatability though.

If this Auto Union streamliner will be in the US/NTSC version then I have a reason to buy it now.

EDIT: I have a feeling the Auto Union Streamliner might be on the NTSC-J disc, as might other cars that might appear in the PAL or NTSC releases. GT3 had hidden cars on it, as did Prolouge. We won't know until someone makes a MKS garage editor for GT4 like we have for GT3.

can it be that PD have all the cars locke d up in their database and can decide which region gets which? that makes me think, imagine when the online version comes out, we may be able to download ferrari's and lamborghini's, cos as u may know, or not,
a)EA held the licences for those cars till Dec2004 when it run out, so now PD can net a deal to feature them, and
b) i saw the PD crew testing some ferrari's in the GT4 Prolugue Bonus DVD, which made me wonder.
may the learned enlighten us...

Holden Torana XU1
