Passed my test now onto finding a car. help much wanted:)

I've not even got my license and I'm nearly 30! Went back to uni and graduating this summer, and with the job market being so bad looks like i'll have to take whatever i can get wherever i can get it which means learning to drive and commuting if need be. Thought the quotes for a little runabout would be reasonable for someone over 25, boy was i wrong!!! Over £2000 for a 1.0 hatch!

Get a vauxhall corsa, cheap to insure and buy plus they hardly ever go wrong!

Oh and after a years driving which your coming up to your insurance will go down drastically!

So a bit of an update in the end of september the abs rings exploded and had to be replaced for a fee of 50 pounds even though it was under warranty got it back put new tyres on it and crashed within a mile of kwix fit, pretty bad crash got car fixed for £1000, then had to buy new brakes all round, then it needed all new suspension ball joints for its mot, another 500 pound and it broke down again when a sensor broke. So coming up to my 1st year of motoring it's been fun but expensive hopefully I will be able to drive next year depending on my insurance rate :/

The link doesn't work, what did you end up buying?

Buy my car, 200 bucks takes it home.

Something goes wrong on the sucker just go to pick a part and fix it yourself.

Another update was able to fford insurance again it dropped from 2798 to 1506 despite my crash fitted some renaultsport clio seats to it going to start doing it up a tiny bit with little subtle touches. also fitted a dab radio but means i cannot use the steering wheel steroe controls no more:(.

Reading this thread was great fun :P. I went the Famine route and bought an old mini. Turned out to be expensive but lots of fun. started out at about £750 a year due to it being a 1275, but its around £250 now that I'm 23, and living in Norway.

The insurance system over here seems pretty good, you insure the car not the driver, as far as I can tell just now!

When I was looking at normal insurance policy I priced type R replicas for around £1500 and I said it was my mum's car but I was the main driver and it was £110 a month, no I just drive a impreza on traders policy lo

So I though id have a update
so I got this in 2010 september

after a clean with the little one awaiting a new buyer

with my dads camper

the final one of them both before the little one went :(

another shot after cleaning

need to get a new rear licence plate light holder ad the one has broken clips and needs replacing but makes it look a bit boy racer still cool though

and a final shot tucked away

my next plans are to get my own plate (c5 PBP) cliosport Paris Brook Peach
and I would really like to get some recaro sportsters fitted come september and student loan time but i need to convice my self over the pricetag and hassle of the subframes etc.

I'm not even going to ask how someone your age can insure that. And then can afford the insurance from the two or three companies willing to quote.

But I will say that you should look into your private plate plans carefully. It's clearly already got one and the DVLA used to be a bit prickly about a car having more than one non-age registration in its life.

You'd be surprised, one of my friends who was the same age at the time insured a Clio Sport 182 for less than £600.

Nice car though 👍
I have thought about getting one, but it's not the biggest of cars. I can't even sit up straight in the back seats, and I'd be karting my friends around a lot too and they are just as big as me.

I'd be pretty 🤬 surprised to see a £600 (or less) quote for insurance for any under 20 on a Clio Sport that didn't involve severe fronting.

]Holy thread update incoming so ive been a bit anti-social in the clio scene as I had been saving for a holiday to Mexico but we have been back now for a while now so I can get back to some bits
The car is now on 150k miles and its starting to show several door dents/stone chips still pulls strong just use a little bit of oil if you press hard for a while, (few weeks)

But I have been to a few shows we went to French Car Show with some friends my other half brother in law and his brother in their c2 v6s which was good.

Been returning to shows I went to as a kid, old school American stuff as that is what I was raised around, and so was my girlfriend here is a photo of her dads 40' ford coupe we went to santa pod whilst at the supernationals only got one run in as it was poorly organised.

my favorite car of the show at the supernationals

Went up lakeside with some clio friends red one has a 1,9 diesel laguna engine and the orange one is a turbo 2.0

I purchased some recaros and a strut brace not for handling purposes as they are useless for that but since stripping my rear I found it difficult to secure things down and was adamant that I wasn't putting my rear seats back in I can use this to split it up.

Its passed its Mot had the exhaust welded again this rear as I caught it on a speedbump.
And replaced the rear shocks as they where shot. And replaced my wing mirror as someone didn't like my parking.

I have also started getting some detailing gear mainly autofinesse stuff so the shed is now all sealed and ready for winter

but yeah my interoir is moving along now

alex changing my seats

and they are in

my current plans are its has a bit of paint bubbling on the drivers rear quarter so going to look have that looked into as we think its early signs of rust so going to get that hopefully repaired, when that gets done I am going to look into having the front end and rear bumper sprayed(someone hit it, again) and hopefully have my wheels refurbed, but we shall see car is now due its Aux belt again.

And most recently someone has Keyed the side of it which is nice,
I purchased the car on 79k so its been fun to own so far in the 3 years, I have owned it.
