Patch NewsPS4

Ok I'm slightly confused. Why did the News section last Tuesday state that the Japanese pack was ready along with patch 1.03 when in fact you couldn't select it???

Just think of at as your mum pointing to your Xmas present under the tree. You know it's there and you just can't have it just yet. Oh and add to that it is wrapped in clear plastic so you can see it and you have also paid for it as well just to really rub it in a bit more ;-)

...

I will still draw everyone's attention to the official site http://www.console.assettocorsa.net/ under console see Key Features where it says " Fully customizable single player and multiplayer modes include quick races, race weekends including free practice sessions, qualifying session, drift challenges and more!"

I only want what has been promised and advertised for my PS4. I care little what the "Beta" game has on PC.

...

I am actually surprised they have not edited that page yet with all the flack they got for it on the official forums. At least a note saying 'we apologize this feature did not make it into the release build", or "was not worded correctly."

Some people stated they got refunds based on that alone.. not that I would do that just sayin.

Even with how limited it is the $40 spent was well worth it IMO.

Absolutely agree 100%. It has been worth every cent and the Season Pass too. I do not regret it, I would just like what I paid for and how I expect a premium release title to work.

I just hope they do not use Polyphony Digital's example(s) of how to release games and trickle promised content out out over years or in some cases not at all ;-)

BTW you US$40 is way short of my A$85 (US$63) :-( So should I feel an extra 50% more aggrieved? :-))

Now that the framerate and tearing is solved after the first patch there's only missing features to complain about, so the port wasn't done too bad overall with regards to quality.

Please don't say that. I think AC version 1.03 on PS4 on may have the most bugs I've ever experienced in a patchable console game. I didn't play PCARS.

What sort of bugs ? Do these exist before 1.03 patch ?

Strange that people who don't have the console version keep saying to give Kunos some slack, comparing to other devs like PD or SMS, so it's okay for Kunos because of small team, budget or 1st time in console port, or giving excuses of whatever issue console players are having like no private lobbies or lack of current online lobby options. People can defend these kind of practices, but the way I see it, when a company makes a product, most consumer don't care about how small the team, the budget or whether it's their first outing in console business, they just want satisfaction out of their purchase. I'm still waiting to see if region lock will go away or not, for online play, as @TT92 said, in Australia region, it's barren, imagine South East Asia region ( Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand etc ) .... :(

Any console players that also have AC on PC, what tire model version are used on console as of 1.03 patch ? Do they varied from car to car like in PC ( v7, v10 etc ) or used same version ? Anyone made detailed testing or looked into the tire model behavior ? I'm hoping with more patches, all cars will have same tire model, preferably the best version as I've read that PC version still have variation in tire model version. Imagine this variation of tire model version in other games like Pcars or Forza or GT, people would raise hell over it  Consistency bro :P

It is $49.99 in the USA. I have best buy GCU so 20% off that. I don't know why it costs so much over there.

Don't feel aggrieved, have a beer.

It costs a lot more in Aussie since ages :( When I lived there back in PS2 days, man, games were about A $90-100+ new  Prices varied throughout the world, so it's not a simple thing to say a game is cheap because it's priced below full title by the publisher. I have to pay US $60+ if I want to order AC PS4 or Xbox One now from my usual game shop, more than other full title priced PS4 games in stock as it's on per-order import basis. Uncharted 4 PS4 can be had for US $ 47

It cost me $89 Australian dollars this game it not worth that, I say about $50 for the game, what if I want the Season Pass I have to have another $44 and that is $133 dollars in total I spent on the game so this game is way over priced.

What's strange is you lurking around GTP cherry picking posts that can fuel your silly personal vendetta's. So no private lobbies count as bugs now? I'd gladly believe AC on consoles is a buggy mess like PCARS was when it launched, but I haven't read a lot about it here on GTP so far hence I'm assuming it isn't.

What bugs are you suffering from, as I've not had a single issue since the update ( on PS4)?

Digital Foundry feedback on the patch:

I'm a bit angry with kunos.... They have said multiple times that part of staff like Luca Sodano are against the V-sync filter because it causes some input lag...

And They "fixed" the screentearing on console with a V-sync filter and don't even improve the framerate like they said...
They don't even includes the V-sync filter on PC version... So why they do it on console?? That's no respectful towards their users.

Funny thing is that in my post on the official forum days before seen this video from digital Foundry i reported problems in the framerate and that I've seen some input lag that wasn't in the game in the previous update...

Hopefully they put an option to activate/deactivate the 🤬 V-sync filter in video settings, cause i prefer some screentearing instead of some input lag.

👎 for kunos on this one

I'm happy with no screen tearing and 45-50fps to be honest. The game is smoother now than before, although probably not by much. Do you use a pad? Is that where the input lag comes from? I can't say I've noticed any difference with the wheel, perhaps it's always been laggy, but it hasn't affected my driving. There's no place for whole-screen tearing these days, I, for one, am way happier with the game as it is now. Hopefully Kunos can eke some more FPS out of the game at some point.

And BTW, I agreed with most of your list of improvements on the official forum. Be good to see what they're working on next, patch-wise.

Hi bleeder!

I use most of my time my wheel (Thrustmaster T150RS) and like i said in my post on the official forum i noticed the bit more input lag playing with my wheel, and was wondering if it could be due the new option of the visual wheel degrees option (that i put in "no").

Some time i play (obligated :() with the controller if my little son is running around the living room or i don't have enough time to mount my wheel.

Sincerely i respect your opinion about screentearing, but its a issue that could be automatically fixed or improved with a stable framerate.

So using the easiest option to "kill" the screentearing with the V-sync filter and add some little input lag is not what i realy liked.
(for what i now, the PC version don't have the V-sync filter, cause part of the staff are against it)

I prefer personally play with some screentearing instead a bit more input lag what you really already got thanks to the TV refreshing rates (even in PC or game mode)

So,i suggested now in my post on the official forum an V-sync activation/deactivation slider in the visual settings of the game.

And framerate need some improvements, mostly with AI cars on track, cause in slow corners or chicannes being between some AI cars there's some annoying stuttering and framerate drops.

I also hope that the kunos guys can improve more the framerate performance and reach more the promised 60fps.

Yeah I still get the odd judders here and there. They're really annoying. If they did allow for v-sync options I'm all for it, depends if it makes the tearing even worse than before, as the game wasn't even running at 60fps and still had bad tearing. Some games like Rainbow 6 Siege give us that option, but honestly I found it unplayable at 60 because of the wobbling everywhere. But as you say, they could let the player decide I guess.

I recently set my wheel to 900 and did the same in the options screen and it has worked. Before the 1:1 would be way out unless I had my wheel at 1080, but it appears like they've sorted it. I'd suggest trying to match them, if your wheel allows.

Yup, making the decision up to the players with settings or options would be the best.. So everyone is happy.

Yes,the T150 allows manually rotation changes like the big brothers (T300 and T500) up to 1080 degrees...
So i will try your suggestion of change manually to 900 degrees my wheel an in the game put the visual wheel graduation also at 900 degrees instead the "no" option and see if there's an improvement.

Thanks:cheers:

And for the rest.. Well we have to wait and see how they improve the console versions and framerate in the following updates.

I think I read recently that Assetto adjustes rotations of your actual wheel depending on car you currently drive, to match it 1:1 - not in regard of animation of wheel in cockpit (that depends on you visual settings for wheel animation) but in regard of actualy turning the car?

Yup, i read the same thing somewhere.. The case is that in the 1.01 version it was very accurate to 1:1 but in version 1.03 i seen the little input lag.
And really, in a driving game, how more precise your inputs are and how less input lag you see/got how better.
So,like we commented with bleeder, the best solution is an V-sync filter active/deactivate option and everybody can choose on his liking.

I also opened a new tread on the official forum asking about the drag mode and drag strips that where on the pre alpha of the game in the press events...

AkoNTMp.jpg

Really don't know why they took it away and it isn't in the final realese... Problems? Will it be in the game implemented with a future update??

I didn't play AC prior to 1.03.

What bugs are you suffering from, as I've not had a single issue since the update ( on PS4)?

Here's some problems I've noticed since getting the game for PS4 last week.

- Menu sounds only play in one audio channel after returning from track.
- Sometimes the engine sound of the player's car begins to stutter.
- The sound of other cars nearby sometimes causes click-like cuts in the sound.
- These cuts in sound may also happen as tires make contact with different surfaces (tarmac, curbs, grass, sand, etc.).

The shared trait for the audio issues is that they are random and usually creep in depending on how long the game is running without a reboot, which only works as a short-lived fix.

- Wheels sometimes spin around when accessing the pits through the menus, causing a constant screeching sound.
- Damage HUD causes severe slow downs when it appears on screen.
- Camera angles are sometimes skipped when cycling through them.
- L2 (minimum value) and R2 (maximum value) commands rarely work in the various menus.
- RUF CTR Yellowbird will sometimes not switch to the 100% boost setting, thereby it simply jumps from 90% to 10%.
- The Pagani Huayra has a transmission issue that pretty much makes it unplayable.

I was rather hoping that space would be reserved for 'Custom Championship'. Don't see the point of drag racing personally.

In one of the last streamings from Stefano he commented that the custom championships are still in WIP for PC version, so once it's finished they will implement it in the game.

And you maybe don't see the point of drag racing, but it is in the PC version and it was in the pre alpha of the console version..
It's an option like the Drift mode..some people will like it, and other maybe don't see the point of...

That's what makes people amazing! The difference between one and others :cheers:

I thought that was solved by turning auto clutch off?

drag racing, but it is in the PC version

It is, but I can't recall any PC players discussing it so I don't think it's used very much. But I know in GT5/6 it was quite popular for people to do make-shift drag racing online so I figured it would be more used on consoles. I've never used it though so I'm not sure how well it works or if it works online.

They'll need to add the false starts system before putting it in I guess.

All of the above existed before the 1.03 patch, none have been caused by it.

Personally I've not had any of the above happen apart from the last one, which can be fixed by switching off Autoclutch, which you don't need unless you have a a clutch pedal you don't want to use.

Now don't get me wrong ideally none of these should have to be suffered, but in comparison to the issues and bugs that Driveclub and PCars had at launch (or the patch that broke Thrustmaster wheels for a month in DiRT) these are minor in my opinion.

I'm not following you here.

I didn't say that version 1.03 caused any of the bugs I listed. These bugs exist in 1.03 and that's why I mention them.

I thought that was solved by turning auto clutch off?

Ok, I'll try that. Am I correct in assuming that the auto clutch setting doesn't play a role for cars without cutch pedals? I'm on the DS4 controller for now.

You can argue those are minor issues, but they are very noticeable for me. I've been used to more subtle bugs in the console games I've played over the years, so I hope Kunos will address them moving forward. I'm sure other recent games have been worse in this regard, but this doesn't influence my reasonable expectations of AC. I've read that the PC version is very stable, so there's no reason why the console versions shouldn't be over time.

Ok, I'll try that. Am I correct in assuming that the auto clutch setting doesn't play a role for cars without cutch pedals?

Right. Basically, any car that has flappy paddles will usually have auto-clutch and auto-blip built into them, just like the real cars do, so you shouldn't need to activate those functions with those cars.
