Then there is the mentioned increadibly artificial sounding supercharger whine of the Atom 300, the S/C whine of the Lotus engines in AC is much more realistic and again more natural sounding. (Yes, I know the Atom has a Honda engine). Of course, there are some cars that sound better in pCARS than in AC, the 1M is a prime example.
I have spent a lot of time in the Ariel Atom S/C actually, and I thought the Supercharger sounded a bit strange. Then I went to YT and found that, to me at least, the game car sounds very much like the real car. Skip to 1:10 and listen for a few seconds:

I wonder if tire wear affects the AI as much as it does to you? Yesterday i tried the Mclaren F1 invitational event again (second night in a row of trying to do a one hour race), the first 10 minutes are fine and i was leading the race most of the time, but then the tires started to go and i was all over the place whilst the AI didn't seem affected at all and close the gap to me in no time.

Anyone else has this impression?

So after 20 or so restarts, and having done the hour that way i just retired when i lost it over the slope for the umpteenth time. Of to the next Kart event then i thought and it was at Glencairn, so after driving the heavy Mclaren for hours on end i wasn't used to the Karts nor the Kart tracks anymore and it was the worst possible layout of Glencairn (left, right, left right, hairpin, up the hill left right...and bloody high kerbs!), so i sucked at that race also

A frustrating evening indeed.

I was wondering how much adapting to the karting driving style would screw me up... Sounds like a challenge

Yeah takes a while to adjust to them as they turn in a lot faster (but luckily there's still a sense of weight). Some of the tracks don't help neither as mentioned above; not a moment of rest with all the corners following eachother. Some of the tracks are good though as you actually have the time to change gears :D

Does anyone know if it is possible to decline invitational events in career? or is it just a case of simulating it if you don't want to race personally.

it's quite a challenge to even control the wheel in the karts. really mental fun

After a couple of days of playing I still think it's incredible what a small developer with a (relatively) limited budget has managed to achieve for console racing.

For a game which is in its first instalment, to be described as a genuine competitor to Forza and Gran Turismo is absolutely fantastic - and it's something which can only be good for the future of racing games. For too long neither of those games have had any genuine competition on their respective consoles, but now they know need to step up their game after fairly underwhelming latest releases.

The game is still quite buggy at the moment, but once those issues have been sorted this game really will be the benchmark of next gen racing games.

Having had a few days to get accustomed to this I still love it. Still prefer the Physics and Graphics( Natural Graphics Mod) in Assetto Corsa but both have their strong points so it's a win,win situation! Overall, very happy. Huge potential.

I like how you sometimes don't have to steer after clipping the apex, you can feel the rear want to go around.

Straight away it felt so fun to me. I'm just using a controller at the moment but this makes me want to get a wheel again.
The actual physics of the car which is the main thing feel so good and I love all the different camera views.

I can just play around on my own without racing it's just so fun to drive. This is just the game I've been waiting for not having any racing sims on PS4 has been boring now finally got one and it's as good as I hoped.

I had to switch to auto for the karts, My brain could not process all the info on screen quick enough and my hands could not move fast enough!

Project Cars where it is no easy win unless you want it to be.

Project Cars in other previous big name games you usually can not wait for the race to be over.
With project cars you are not focused on the race being over you are focused on each lap and as you settle in, you do not even notice the number of laps. Each lap becomes a race in it self.

First Impressions....................holy ****ing **** . My deal breaker in any game has always been driving in the rain , in this game I actually giggle my head off like a schoolchild when the car goes sideways an I somehow save it .

The Circuit choice is amazing , adore their version of Le Mans 24r , if you look in the replays the marshals on the main straights actually turn the bodies an heads to follow the cars going past .

Thankfully I have a quite good PC so a full field of cars in every race with all the graphics at their highest settings brings on the eye candy .

Worth the wait oh yes .

p:s only played with a xbox 360 controller on my pc as i only got out of the hospital yesterday after many hours of being force fed anti-biotics due to sepsis pneumonia , so still too weak at the moment to use me dfgt wheel .

Can't wait for that too happen though .

Doctor Dog recommends an hour long endurance race to rebuild the lost muscle mass in arms and shoulders.
Get well soon ;)

Can anyone comment on how smooth the frame rate is on ps4? Does it stay at 60fps most of the time?
Most of the time yes. Where it struggles is in the rain, and at the start. Not much you can do with the power of the console being what it is, but most of the time it should be a solid 60fps

Do it. Get the wheel. If you think it's good with a controller, with a wheel it's even better. Some of the cars you can just feel your way around the track as the physics translate the proper wheel angle to your hands. I've never been much good with oversteering cars myself, but I find it so intuitive in Project Cars I don't even have to think about it most of the time, my hands just know what to do. Cars like the BAC Mono, Ariel Atom S/C are just an insane amount of fun, combining the control, sound and FFB that makes driving just pure joy. With a shifter it's just bananas rowing through the gears, heel and toeing downshifts like Jackie Stewart:D:crazy:

Throttle control is a really important factor in this game. I feel more forces at play when driving as well.

This is due to the Volumetric Throttle System with a Volumetric Turbo-/Supercharger System hooking into it. So the whole throttle feels very analog and simply correct.

I complained early on about the throttle feeling like it's directly connected to the flywheel (RPM), than the devs implemented these systems. These systems for me subconsciously immersed me into the game, since my brain no longer had to compensate for the throttle response, because I now could control the throttle more subconsciously I had freed up a bit of brain power that with which I could not control more on race craft. It's a little thing, but it goes a long way in my opinion.

One word... heavenly. :)

Despite helping my Mrs get to her Hen night, book a Wedding Cake, visit our Wedding venue, go shopping and do the food shop for the week, I've been playing Project Cars for around 10 hours over this weekend!

I'm convinced this is the best racing game ever made. It's all encompassing and complete, nothing else comes close. Better than both Gran Truismo 6 and Forza Motorsport 4 / 5.

A video of me in the wet, driving around Silverstone in the Ariel Atom V8 on a controller with all assists off. The few people who said you can't play with a controller (Some on GT Planet were insisting it's unplayable) don't know their arse hole from their elbow. :)

And if you want to have an ear orgasm, listen to this video of me driving the Project A Formula 1 car around Catalunya in the exterior view.

Played the retail version of the game for the first time today. Only driven the Formula A car so far, first time with KERS and DRS and seems quite easy to push. Need to work a lot on the setup though and maybe a bit on FFB feeling but it is quite good as it is.

I've played the game for 20+ hours on the PS4 and the only time I actually noticed some significant framedrops was during storm conditions and with a lot of cars on the track. Competing against 40+ cars on de la Sarthe only had a slight frame drop at the start, which really surprised me since I expected far worse. I'm overall very impressed with the performance of the game.
